In Response to Re: HELLLLLOOOOOOOOOO! : No, it's not that bad...I don't think anything in our city is really *that* bad and it isn't in the one area I will definitely steer clear of. The kids would be fine for school, the rough school is still one section over, their school would be a good one. The area does have subsidized housing and the house backs onto a highway (but with greenspace between, so not directly on it, and it isn't a huge highway, 50miles per hour). But it is about two highway exits further West than we want to be. I like the house because it is a split level, with a lot of living space (living, family, den and rec room!) and the kitchen has been redone...

Can your realtor find you something similar in your ideal neighborhood? And what Koda said..

  • No, I don't think I would be carzy for living there. But right now the house is overpriced for the area, I don't think I would pay 400k for it, 390 maybe, 380 ideally (it is in really nice shape based on what I can see online, in person it might be another thing)...the thing is that it is an older area so clearly they have redone the house a bit (hard wood, kitchen) and want their investment to pay off. But I think 400 is reaching for that area of our city.

Here is a picture of the kitchen.

I hate the treatment on the wall by the breakfast bar and the mirrored backspash but those are easy fixes.
  • Nice kitchen. I would go see it then go from there, you may find something you hate about it and can at least get it out of your head.

  • Yeah, I emailed our realtor about it again...We would love to go see others like it but it is a sellers market, right now there is NOTHING out there to buy. Great for us putting our place on the market on the 16th, not awesome for buying. But it will pick up around the 18th when our March break is over.
  • Hey, the kitchen looks promising, number! How's the rest of the house looking? Fairly updated and stuff? I know you mentioned they had put a bit of work in, but sometimes the work that's done doesn't really add value.
  • oh ffs. I wasn't upset nor was I offended/uncomfortable.

I just don't understand why you'd want that one picture to represent you on a public forum. I mean, I get it. I have big boobs and I wear low-cut shirts sometimes. But if I saw that picture of myself on fb, I'd be asking the person to take it down.

  • Koda - I whacked it with a broom. And there was eye protection, a blindfold. :)

Number - That house is beautiful.

  • Oh, it's nice! I agree that I might not pay $400K for it (depending where it is, I guess), but it's certainly a good-looking home.

It's just west of Guelph Line at Dundas. Just a tad too far west and north for our liking. And over priced for that area (and it's been on the market for a few weeks because it is over priced). That being said, 400k wouldn't get us anywhere near that where we live, only two exits east and a bit further south!...
Number, it looks move-in ready and that is a plus. It seems like the houses are super close together from the outside photo. That would be a deal breaker for me.
    Posted by ILoveMilkDuds
Well that's all we have around here! We don't get much further away from each other and honestly, that quite a distance away compared to some areas...let me see if I can find some examples...

  • Ah, I see what you mean. It's certainly ambitiously priced for that area, though it is a nice home. If it was priced better, would it be worth the less-than-ideal location?

MilkDuds - that's pretty much the only way houses come these days. Space between homes is a rarity. :o/

Here's a house close to where I live. Check out how close they are... :)

  • Oh wow, those houses are crazy close!

  • Good evening ladies! Numbers, good luck with the househunt. I'll be doing the same here in a couple months. In fact, H and I are traveling up to VA to do a week of househunting in May. I'm kind of dreading it; it feels like we just moved into this house and I don't want to have to put up with the bullshit of moving again. At least this time, we'll have movers to pack and load all of our stuff, so that's good.

I made a really good dinner tonight. It was whole wheat linguine with mixed seafood (mussels, scallops, shrimp, calamari, and baby octopus), asparagus, tomatoes, a bit of white wine and lemon juice, then I added some asiago cheese to bind it all together. It was so yummy, and I have leftovers for lunch the next two days.

  • Milk Duds...

    Here are some examples...

Here is an overhead view of houses that are in the 1million + price range - still not that far apart...right by the water though...

These houses are just a bit further North - at least 500/600k, not that far apart...

    Again, slightly further north...400k-550k...

This is one of the areas we are looking, 350 - 425k

And this is another area we are looking at, close to us now...these run from 350k - 380k

All very close to each other, not that much difference between the different price points...
  • Hi all! I'm just in the door from work. It was fun and then aggravating. Oh well. I'm trying the gluten free thing, and all I want is crusty bread. And I, for one, am a little sorry that Sara changed her picture. I didn't even notice the dildo, and I just thought she looked really happy in it.

  • Bread is so delicious, I would be sad if I couldn't have it!

  • I'm seriously fantasizing about it. French bread, sourdough bread, ciabatta...

  • .. And as she came through the door, all flustered from her hectic day, the ciabatta just lay there, inviting her, calling to her, as if it understood her true longing... Literotica here I come.

  • I don't miss bread. Garlic bread a little, but that's really it. I miss couscous. And pizza.

I had a long day, but it was a good one. I'm making breaded (corn flakes for me) baked fish and oven fries for dinner. And I'm contemplating major life changes. And looking at Number's pretty house picutres!

  • I haven't had bread or pasta or any of that awesome stuff in about 2 months and I barely miss it anymore. It gets easier.

I would kill for a glass of red wine right now though.
  • AND LICORICE. Goddamn it, I miss licorice. Especially red vines.

  • Omg, I love couscous. I could probably live without bread, which is odd since I do love sandwiches. And grilled cheeses...

Right now I have NO urge to get up off the couch and haul my ass to hot yoga. I may just spend the whole hour laying in corspe pose.
