Annoying things my husband does vent thread....

We came home last and DH got all excited there was a bottle of iced tea in the fridge. I told him it was mine for tomorrow. (I do not drink brown sodas or coffee so it's my only form of caffeine). He asked if he could have a 'little sip'. I said yes, but only a little sip.

This morning there was no more iced tea left.

According to him he slept walked, was thirsty and that was the only thing to drink. Mind you there is a 5 gallon water cooler a foot away from the fridge. Oh and he had 'dreams' about the iced tea and just 'had' to have it.

Ugh.......

What annoying things does your DH do?

He doesn't put his clean clothes away. I will admit that my stuff does take up the majority of our large walk-in closet, but I am talking about underwear and socks. There is plenty of space in the dresser drawers for them.

yesterday, i did laundry. well i started. i pointed out the two loads to him. whites and mediums.

he offered to switch the load. he took a big bunch of clean clothes and threw them in the wash. so at bed time when i was going to put the last load in the dryer i realized that it wasn't the whites. it was clean darks (that were only partially folded).

i even pointed out the two loads! like "yay, just a small load of whites! and the colours, and we're good for laundry for the week!"

My H is really forgetful. He'll start doing the dishes, then when the sink is full of water, he'll step away from the sink to "let it drain", and then forget what he was doing in the first place. He does that with a lot of projects -- gets sidetracked concentrating on something else, and forgets what he was doing to begin with. But his doctor thinks he has adult ADD, so I guess I can't really get upset about it.

Putting dirty dishes in/around the sink instead of taking the 2 extra seconds to rinse it off and put it into the dishwasher. DRIVES ME CRAZY.

Lynda, I'd be pissed. My H knows better than to do that.

H uses my towel. For some reason our housekeeper only puts one clean towel in the bathroom, and if H showers first I will go get another towel to use for the week. If I shower first, he just uses mine. Or even if there are two towels - of different colors! - he forgets which is his and uses mine. Drives me insane.

Well, I'm not married yet.. BUT... he takes his clothes off at night next to his side of the bed and leaves the clothes on the floor! ... and he lets them pile up! One time I tried to teach him a lesson and stopped picking the clothes up and washing them... they stayed there for 2 weeks!!!! Seriously!!

I've been trying really hard lately to introduce some new recipes into our usual dinner fixes.

I think in 3 weeks I've done 4 new recipes. Nothing extreme, just different takes, or different preparation for things we typically love. Every single time he has given me an attitude and talked about how he hates trying new things and it totally hurts my feelings. I even got so mad at him one day that I cried b/c I was so frustrated.

Guess how many times he has absolutely loved the new recipe and has requested I make it again? EVERY FLIPPIN TIME.

Every night he has kissed my a$$ apologetically b/c it turns out the things I've made are awesome. Don't you think he'd learn by now to not be an a$$ when I'm cooking something new?

Saturday he said I was going to ruin his Saturday because I was making something new. Dramatic much? I had to make them again for lunch yesterday b/c they were the "best he's ever had from anyone, anywhere".

DH rarely washes the dishes and when he does it's not done very well. (we have to do them by hand)

His mother, myself and the fact he has a dishwashing department to do that at work are all to blame.

When we move we will have a dishwasher so I expect he will step up on that job. He likes cleaning machines like vacuums and dishwashers.

I cook, so he will clean up afterwards (which is great), but then he just lets the pots and pans "soak"...until I get sick of looking at them and take care of it myself.

I'm with y'all on the laundry thing. I do all of the laundry, all of it. The only thing I DON'T want to do if put his things away. He's picky and I don't like to hear him bitch that all of his undies aren't facing the same way. He will have a HUGE stack on the dresser before he finally puts them away. Drives me nuts. Then he says it's my job b/c I do the laundry. Grr.

He also sets our schedule for the morning. My alarm on my phone has been acting up, so we've been using his alarm clock as our joint alarm. If he gets up late, I get to work late because he takes the first shower. If he wakes up really early, I'm up really early. It works well and not so well all at the same time.

Sadly, it's a long list. I'm still working on weaning H off his bad habits from nearly 20 years of bachelorhood.

1. Wet towel left on the bed

2. Dirty clothing pretty much everywhere but the hamper

3. Will not do the dishes

4. Leaves the milk and cereal out on the counter rather than putting it away (even when I'm already at work -- so the milk goes bad)

5. Leaves empty boxes/cartons in the refrigerator/cabinets

6. Forgets to do almost everything I ask him to do

7. Insists on watching movies on laptop in bed to fall asleep then has no idea why he's exhausted the next morning

I must be in a crabby mood this morning because I could probably go on, but I should be nice to H and just stop. So I will. (I swear, the good things about him way outnumber the annoying things, but when I write them out, the annoying list is long.)

Stacks - Good for you for trying new things.

I started cooking one new recipe a week a few months back. It just sucked because I was the only one eating (DH was not at home). Now I've lost interest.

My husband does this, too!

And he is often terrible at unloading the dishwasher. I usually run it in the mornings before I go to work or at night and we try to take turns unloading it. Well, I like to have it unloaded before I start cooking dinner so I can load the dirty dishes. He always tells me he will do it in a minute, so I just do it myself.

This exactly. I cannot stand it! He always says he'll put them away later, but that means days later and I put them in the dishwasher myself by then.

My FI is pretty good about doing his share of the housework, but he always makes a huge deal about it. Like last night he cleaned up the kitchen after dinner (which I cooked) and was all "Look at me! I'm cleaning" and I just want to tell him the only reason it's a big deal is because I do it the vast majority of the time. I'm not going to give him a cookie for doing something that I do almost every night without praise.

And he is really particular about his clothes. He always comes home from work and lays his suit out on the bed then freaks out if the cat lays on it or if I move it so I can lay down. If he would just hang it up it wouldn't be a problem.

Stacks -- my H won't eat a long list of foods, and every time I try a new dish, he tells me that he won't eat it. I've realized that if I just serve it, he'll eat it, but when I describe it, he freaks out.

I swear that I married a 4 year old sometimes.

I do all the laundry, too.

I am definitely over it, but it just drives me crazy to see clean laundry piled up in the laundry basket. They are his clothes, so if he wants to live out of a laundry basket, then so be it.

Mica that's how Jocelyn is. She tries to be picky but I won't let her get up unless she physically takes a bite of the food and then can honestly say she doesn't like it. It frustrates me like WHOA when my food gets judged before its even been tried.

Saturday all I was doing was making a reuben. But instead of using stupid deli meat I made the corn beef in the crock pot. Common sense would say that it was going to taste a million times better with real meat right? He must have asked me 10 times if I knew what I was doing. I wanted to flick his forehead with my finger.

H is in school and has his school books and papers all over the computer desk. I mean there are papers all over the desk, my scrapbooking table, the extra chairs and the cocktail table.

He also leaves the computer on. I hate coming downstairs and hearing it on. He knows that I hate it cause he will turn the monitor off cause he knows that I am going to say something.

My ultimate biggest pet peeve is how much he complains about his weight but refuses to do anything about it!! We just were both in a wedding and he hated every picture that he was in because he said he looked fat so finally I just said well what are you gonna do about it? and he said nothing!! And he continues to eat bad and refuses to work out. When I try to get him to do stuff with me he refuses!

Stackeye, my FI is the same way! I've just stopped asking him what he wants for dinner because we'd have the same 4 things every week.

FI leaves his jackets on the back of the loveseat. He'll leave them there until they pile up and fall on the floor. Seriously, the coat closet is FIVE FEET away from the loveseat.

I am so happy that you are not my mommy. It is so hard for me to try new foods and I really can't put it in my mouth unless I think I am going to like it.

i hate how my husband doesn't soak stuff. like you make something and when you put the empty pot in the sink you should soak it, cause then washing it is effortless. (we don't put our pots in the dishwasher very often)

he puts things away in the fridge without saran, tinfoiling or putting a lid on the container. drives me mental.

but all in all, when he doesn't put his dishes in the dishwasher or dirty clothes in the hamper, i really don't care. it's fine by me. as long as he does things like put the recycling bin and garbage bin on the curb on suzuki day, i really don't care much. oh and the liter. i like him to do the liter. UNLESS i ask him to do something and then he doesn't. i get mad.

I'm with Musicalsunlight with the glasses on the counter, rather than in the sink.

He also loves to just put the recycling on the counter, rather than walking 5ft and putting it in the recycling bin. Um, the bottles don't walk themselves into the bin, Mr. Penny--I have to move them there.

The sock colony growing under our bed. He takes his socks off when getting in bed, but will leave them under the bed for weeks. It's like they're breeding under there.

Leaving empty bottles of shampoo, body wash, etc. in the shower.

Opening boxes of cookies, cereal, etc. from the wrong end!!!

That's how I am Mandy.....I dont rely on him to do anything but when I ask him to he darn well better do it. I've never had a problem in that respect either.
