• Why not... I usually lurk over here but had not in awhile and just read all the drama from last night, awesomeness. But anyway, I'm Erin; I'm getting married in June! FI and I have been together for 3 years; engaged since August. I'm originally from the bay area where I was a teacher for autistic young aduls and I was also a high school cheer & dance coach; and if that was not enough I worked for a cheer company where I traveled all the time on the weekends and in the summer working with teams and directing events all over the place. Was definitely my "first love." After I met FI I did not want to leave as much so I knew he was going to be a keeper. He moved back to his hometown summer 2011 to open an automotive shop, so we were long distance for a few months when I realized that sucked, so I put in my two weeks; packed my bags and moved my life to the Chico area where we run the auto shop together. I love the little town lifestyle and am so happy I took the chance because it led me exactly where I needed to be :)

  • I don't know which drama you speak of, as I don't usually browse this board, but decided to check in today anyway.

I'm Jen. I live in the Greater Moncton Area in Canada. We're getting married in Wolfville, Nova Scotia in June. I went to university in that area for my Bachelor's and absolutely fell in love with the place. Super excited!

I just finished my Master's degree in Applied Human Nutrition, so looking for work in that field. In the meantime, I'm being a domestic goddess at home, and planning the wedding.

I'm more of a dog person, but we have a cat right now. Looking into adopting a puppy sometime after the wedding, as we were already approved by the SPCA :D

Also love Harry Potter and chick flicks. I think that's all.

Married as of June 22, 2013!!!

  • I didn't happen upon the drama last night, oh well. I usually lurk on this board as well as etiquette and my wedding month so I thought I would say hello. M name is Lisa, I just graduated with two asters degrees in history and library and information science. I am currently looking for a job in my field. My fiancé s a computer engineer. We have two cats, Ann and Omy. We are pretty nerdy and enjoy playing video games of all kinds although less FPS than most people I know.
  • Hello! I lurk constantly on all the boards but usually the regs say everything I wanted to say, only more eloquently. As you can tell by my sn, I love LOTR (I saw FOTR when it came out, then read the books). I also love Discworld! I want my own Luggage someday, it would carry all my junk and eat anyone that got in its way.
I'm still trying to figure out how to add pics and tickers, every time I try to add my ticker it doesn't actually go through. I'm getting married soon, May 24, and if the weather's nice we'll have our ceremony on a mountain. I have two bunnies that FI puts up with because they're cute. They're about 7 years old now but we just bonded them this year, which is super adorable! This is a not very good pic of Thorin, the male, a few years ago (they're not very good at photos, even without the flash the noise my camera makes scares them).

So sweet! I am sorry I assumed she was a boy, I was just hoping she was Boomer's long lost brother! To be fair, most people think he is a girl. He is 4.5.

I love mix breeds, I have seen some pretty funny combinations! I love Corgis mixed with anything! http://www.thatcutesite.com/corgi-cross-breeds-are-cute-25-pictures.html

[QUOTE]I'm Retreadbride - "retread" as in, have been married before. I was widowed once and divorced once prior to this marriage. I'm 49, a writer, and work in a museum. No children - the greatest grief of my life, due to infertility. I did raise my stepchildren from a prior marriage. I enjoy historical reenacting, fishing, hiking, genealogy, homecanning, reading, skydiving and figure skating. Several of my activities ended 15 months ago when I was disabled due to spinal injuries. The aforementioned sports may be why the damage occurred. My favorite movie of all time is "Star Wars" - the original, where Han shot first. My favorite tv show is "The Walking Dead" (that's Daryl in my avatar, by the way). I've always loved weddings. I bought bridal magazines in my teens because I loved to look at the dresses, the china and crystal, and read about planning them. I stayed here after mine because I love to talk about them. Happy to meet all of you....hope you don't mind having an elderly biddy around......

Walking dead and Downton Abbey are the two shows I follow religiously! Daryl is one of the best characters on the show. I usually just lurk on M&M, and your advice is always well said.

  • Hey! I'm Kate, I play hockey in my free time, which is very rare these days. FI and I are tying the knot 11/9/13 and I can't believe it's getting so close! We live just outside of Denver, CO and love hiking and camping with our two dogs. Cali is a 3 year old lab/gsp mix and Flint is a 11 month old husky. Our wedding is formal and our colors are Navy, Ivory, and Silver. BM dresses are two birds sapphire and GM will wear dark grey tux's with navy ties and vests. Our food will be local CO dishes and we will have an open bar.

I mostly lurk to take a break from my crazy nursing school schedule and get the occasional piece of advice. :)

Hello, all! I was following the drama yesterday but missed the chance to contribute because of the time difference between y'all "in the Midwest" and here. ;] I'm Cooper. I've been on the Boards since April, and occasionally post in all the boards including SB, but currently my main account is having technical issues and it seems TK's admin doesn't have time to straighten it out. I love cars and all manner of wines [bonus, there are a lot of great wineries within two hours of where I live]. My fiance and I both live in Oregon and work in the automotive industry. I read a lot of modern fantasy, including Patricia Briggs, Mercedes Lackey, and Jim Butcher. And of course I'm a fan of Harry Potter so I'm glad to be in good company. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
  • Hi all! You can call me Jade, because I worked in the Jadeite industry for a while and ended up collecting it. I got married in 2005, but I'm going to renew our vows in 2015, so I'm kind of sitting back and soaking in ideas. I moved to my husband's country, Guatemala, and got married there. I lived there for 4 years, and moved back when I was almost 8 months pregnant because it just became too dangerous for us to want to raise our daughter there.

So I'm back in the usa. I live near Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.

I haven't started planning our vow renewls (It's way too far away right now) but that's not to say my future brides maids haven't tried. Because I was married abroad, only my mom and great aunt made it to my wedding. My vow renewel will be a wedding I can share with my friends and family in this country this time, since I wasn't able to share our vows with them the first time around. And since I've asked my 3 best friends if they will be brides maids, they give excitement a new meaning as more than 2 years to go, they love looking up wedding planning stuff now as a result.

I was an ESL teacher when I lived abroad, and I'm currently a stay at home mom. When my daughter starts school, so will I. I want to get a degree to become a spanish teacher. I'm a bit of a geek, so maybe I don't fit in as well, but I'm what's called an otaku. I am really into Japanese animation, and I'm a particularly big Miyazaki fan. I'm a cat person, but I also have two 5 gallon aquariums as we have 2 bettas, an african dwarf frog, and a ghost shrimp.

I'm talkitive ^^^ obviouslySurprised so I appologize in advance for my wordy responses. One skill I severely lack is getting my point across in fewer words. It's nice to meet everyone here!

Is this thread still alive? My name is Mercedes, really. I am a systems analyst, been programming since I used punch cards back in college. Yes, that old. I'm a mom of two girls and one boy, who is soon to be married. I love weddings, everything about weddings. My kids laugh at my interest in TK, but it keeps me young. How else could I use smh appropriately?

I heart Patricia Briggs, especially her Alpha and Omega and Mercy Thompson series. I like the "modern fantasy" authors that do an oncanon representation of legends [like vampires, werewolves, and fairies] and adapt them to urban environments. Her books are a great blend of whodunit, awesome writing and well fleshed out characters. Nothing better for a weekend! I can't wait to read the latest Dresden Files book when they release it in paperback here.

Hi, Mercedes! I missed all the drama. Who all got hate mail here from the butthurt n00bs that called the Knot Gods down on us?

I love Patricia Briggs and Mercedes Lackey! Thanks for the new author (Jim Butcher) to try! I really think that I would like to live in Valdemar, although I am torn between wanting to be a herald or a hawk brother.

Hello :) My name is Ella and I first joined The Knot about 9 years ago. My fiance at that time was a man named Pedro, who unfortunately passed away 7 years ago. So, even though my name here is "Ella and Pedro," my fiance is a man named Joel. I have asked TK to fix this but it appears I can't, or I could - but I'd have to change my e-mail and so forth.

Anywoo...sad topic, moving on, Joel and I live in Washington D.C. I am a certified visual arts teacher/designer/events planner who is currently unemployed as of my moving down her about a year ago to live with Joel. Joel works for the Dept. of Justice. Prior to moving here, I had worked at a private school in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA. I'm originally from the Greater Detroit area, so I'm now one of those hybrid model Midwestern-NewEngland-MidAtlantical folks. Joel and I met about 3 years ago in a chatroom, and are both introverted, nerdy, artistic types. We've been engaged since September and have booked a Baltimore venue for a March 29, 2014 wedding.

We have a cat (my kitty who I brought with me down here) named Isis. She is a grey-black-white stripped longhaired Domestic cat. Can't have two because of allergies. I'm not really a dog person, but we do often dog sit for my fiance's mom who has two and lives a mile away.

It is my pleasure to be here and because I am new, I do ask questions that have sometimes provided me answers I am grateful for - as I do not want to make any etiquette snafus and have definitely been caught in a few errors. So thanks! And, nice to be here, and glad to meet ya!

  • Hi Knot Ladies!

I'm Jessica. FI and I are both from a small town in South Western Ontario. Our wedding is in June (finally into double digits, so FI is getting excited). I am the Office Manager at a Law Firm, and FI is a mechanic.

I am a voracious reader, and have just started reading Anna Karenina, before I see the movie. We have one fur- baby, Molly, a Walker Hound. She's a spoiled little princess, and FI is terrible for spoiling her more.

I joined The Knot at the suggestion of a friend who was on The Bump, and couldn't be happier. Our families have quite a bit of drama, and my mother would let me do whatever made me happy. You Knotties have no issue telling me what's rude, and I appreciate it. I also appreciate the fact that it seems like everyone is going through the same issues, so I'm not alone - weddings must just make people crazy!
