Day of; gift for your future hubby?

Re: Day of; gift for your future hubby?

  • I got him a black and white marble chess board and am going to have our wedding date engraved on the side.  He loves to play chess.  We are having a destination wedding, so we are doing gifts the night before we leave.  Obviously, the chess board will stay home.  Smile

  • A watch as a day-of gift is very classy and traditional; however, there is one small glitch.  There is an old-wives-tale about it being bad luck to where a watch during your wedding, I've heard two versions as to why.  The first is something about having to be somewhere else and keeping track of time.  Blah, blah, blah.  But the other is about love being timeless and the presence of a watch being breaking that meaning.

Anyways...I wish you good luck on your quest for the perfect gift...but then again your future husband already has the "perfect gift", a woman who loves him and wants to spend the rest of her life with him.

  • Book of Poetry.
It's all the poems I've written about him, or us, or our love.
    Yeah... sappy romantic.
  • I bought my FI a watch, not because it is tradition but because he had his eye on it for the longest time and obviously really liked it.  I have no idea what he might get me, but we're going out to dinner, just the two of us, the day before our wedding (our rehearsal & brunch are morning events) and then we'll exchange gifts then.
  • I'm doing a book of boudoir pics only because I think he will never in a million years expect it and then a jersey of his fave team that I plan to take a few pics in.

I doubt he'll be buying me anything as I know where his part-time income is going (the wedding) and I have a little extra income from a bonus so I can swing it and put it into the wedding budget.

I can't think of anything I'd want besides him, the wedding and the honeymoon though :-P
  • we were supposed to be only doing a nice letter to each other. then the other day we were talking and and he ended up saying that he was planning on getting me a gift no matter what i said. I kinda figured that which is why i snuck the topic into conversation. Also, i was inspired recently to get him something and knew he would be really uspset if i got him something and he didnt get me anything. he would feel really bad. anyway, he is reallyyyyy picky and doesnt really wear any jewelry.  On the other hand he has always wanted a rolex (not only picky but expensive taste!) probably not going to afford that so im thinking a Movado (he is also big on names when it comes to things like this). if not a watch then a really big tv. I will have his brother give it to him before the wedding.

  • I'm sending him a cooler with fun beers to share with his groomsmen with a sweet note.  We're spending so much on the wedding, we don't need huge gifts.
  • I'm actually going to get my FH saddlebags for his motorcycle.  He already has leather ones, but really wants the hardbags that lock.  Sooo expensive (about $1000), but I found someone locally selling brand new ones for $600.  We haven't given each other gifts for Christmas or birthdays the past couple of years, and even though we're putting money into the wedding, I know how much he's going to LOVE it when he sees what I got for him.  We do ride a lot - we haven't ever been on a real vacation together (HM will be the first!) - so I know they'll go to good use!

  • I think I may go with some customized cufflinks I found on etsy.com, but I love the budoir photos idea!  He will probably just give me a note, which is all I really want anyway.
  • FI and I haven't really discussed if we're going to exchange gifts.  Though, I started a journal of love letters to my future husband when I was 16.  It's filled with my excitement for when I would finally get to meet him, wishes for our life together and my hope for our future.  It's amazing how you can see how I've changed in the last 11 years.  Anyway, since getting engaged, it's been so nice to actually address him by name and not just "My Husband".  I only have about 6pages left, which is just enough for 1 entry a month until our wedding.  (I've been writing on the 21st of every month)  I've also reserved the first 4 pages of the book for our wedding day.  I've planned on filling those in when I wake up that morning.

As for other stuff...I was going to do the b-pics.......but thought those might be a better 1st anniversary gift...they are "paper" after all.

I have no idea if he'll get me anything.  But that doesn't matter.  :)

  • FI is a HUGE Red Sox fan and I found cuff links made out of Fenway Park Seats from redenvelope.com.  They came in a few weeks ago and look amazing.  I think he's going to flip out.  We're exchanging out presents the night before because I want to personally see his reaction and I want him to wear them at the wedding.
  • I got my fiance a nice set of nice cufflinks that he mentioned he liked.  I am going to give them to him at the rehearsal dinner so he can wear them for the wedding.
  • I'm doing budoir pics as well. Fortunately I have a good photographer friend and sexy photos are his specialty, so he's hooking me up. Besides that I am suprising him with a NY Giants Grooms cake and NY Giants garters I'll be wearing.

    All You Need Is Love....
  • We are paying for our wedding and HM so money is very tight.  While I would love to get him a nice, fancy gift, I don't want to be putting even more on credit!  What I decided to do instead is to make a photobook with pictures and thoughts of our pre-maritial years.  It's coming along very nicely only I think that when all is said and done, it might still end up costing me over 100 dollars.  Still, I think it will be a nice keep sake.
