Colored or White wedding shoes

Re: Colored or White wedding shoes

  • OMG I love your shoes!!! Wear them! I want a short dress just so I can get funky shoues! I also base my outfits on what shoes I want to wear.. I <3 shoes
  • I love those shoes!! Rock em out hun! I am having my shoes dyed Royal Blue and the bow on my shoe is being left white. My shoes are my someting Blue and my only thing blue. Everyone will look at me like i am crazy when they see them but i don't care. It's my feet, our wedding, and my shoes, they aren't wearing them. LOL
  • I think that's a weird angle to judge those shoes from.  I always have to have someone else take a pic of my feet in shoes, facing me and aiming down at my feet, to really get an accurate picture.

Anyways, I love colored shoes!  I'm wearing pale gold sandals with rhinestones, but if I'd found pink or blue ones that I liked better, I'd have worn them.

But really, since with long wedding gowns you hardly see the shoes, it's a fun place to be a little wild, and I totally support that.
  • I will be wearing Purple to match the bridesmaids dresses. I think your shoes are awesome!  Wear them and have fun!
  • I personally think most white shoes are boring or plain ugly. I am wearing colored heals or flip flops- can't decide!

Your shoes are cute! If that is your style, and you like them, wear them! Who cares what anyone thinks- it's your feet not theirs!

  • I bought white shoes, but only because they didn't have my size in silver :) I wanted the silver shoes, but found a great deal at Kohls... they were under $20!!!
  • I LOVE fun colors and patterns for wedding shoes! Mine are a royal purple nubuck, and I adore them. Yay Nordstrom rack!

White or ivory shoes are NMS in almost all situations, weddings included. I think it's fine if it's what you want, but there's no reason to feel like you have to stick to it!

And wear what you want. They're on your feet, not FI's!
  • Hi - I am wearing silver shoes, strappy sandals with a 3 inch heel because I thought I might wear them later in real life. it didn't even occur to me that there even was a "rule" about white shoes until I saw this. No one cares about the shoes, they all want to see the dress.
  • I say they are shoes.  Use that part of your attire to show your personality a little more.  Example: My dress shows my girlie/romantic side, well I found printed black and orange 3 inch heels for my dress, they to me show my artistic and hard edge side.  Like everyone is always saying on here, its your day - its your way.

  • I bought a beautiful pair of navy blue Nine West heels... but now I can't wear them for my wedding tomorrow since I sprained my ankle last weekend :o(  I'm stuck walking down the aisle in New Balance sneakers and an aircast.. yuck!! Hoping no one sees them!

  • I wore golden yellow pumps to match my wedding colors and everyone LOVED them.  It may be a trend, but I didn't care.  I spent good money on those shoes and they are shoes I'll be able to wear again.  (I would probably never again wear white shoes).  It's your wedding day - you should wear what makes you happy!
  • I wore purple shoes. I don't like the tan part of your shoes, to be honest. If they were all pink, I'd be in love.

  • I love your shoes.

I kind of hadn't even thought about what I'd wear, I guess I assumed white, and then when we were dress shopping my family was all super into the idea of wearing coloured shoes (um, what does it say if those who know me best can't imagine me doing traditional?). FI hated my first choice red shoes, I thought his first choice red shoes were totally inappropriate, but I found a pair of pink & black shoes we both loved.

Mine were white to start off and then I got them dyed the same exact color purple of the lace to tie up my corset and I will have the same purple on the "handle" of my bouquet!!

I say do whatever you want because if you listen to other people you will probably end up regretting it. Do what will make you happy!!
  • our colors are black and white with light blue accents and i found the most fabulous light blue shoes ever!! at least, i love them, hehe :) so they fit our color scheme, my style, and are my something blue. as you can see by your poll results, a lot more people are wearing colored shoes than white/ivory, but regardless of the results, you really need to do what you want, it's your wedding!! i say rock the red shoes! GL!
  • You guys are making me wish I could wear heels!  My dress goes straight to the floor without shoes on.  Which I suppose is lucky since I dont have to get it hemmed, but I have to find a pair of cute flats that I really love.  And that's been really hard to do.
  • I am wearing royal blue heals for the ceremony and have flats in the same color for the reception. The inlaws are not cool with it, but it's one thing that I will not take an opinion on.

Yours are too cute! I say go for it!
  • I say wear what you want, it's your wedding!
My shoes are bright fushia pink and I love them. Coloured shoes have becomes a huge trend in weddings as of late, but even if it dates my wedding, I don't care. I chose to wear coloured shoes for two reasons: 1)I'm a pink kind of girl and it wouldn't be me if I wasn't wearing something pink on my wedding day and 2)If I'm spending $300 on shoes they'd better be something I'm going to wear again and I almost never wear white, let alone white shoes. You're shoes are cute, wear them and enjoy, no matter what anyone says about it!
  • From this shoe-a-holic...LOVE the shoes!  Wear them in good health.

I'm planning on silver for mine!

  • My shoes are bright blue (they go with the accents on the BM dresses). Love them! Plus if it's your style then its even better! Anything that says you and brings out your unique flair is great. Go for it.

  • Also as a NC'er  transplanted to VT where it's even further behind, I wanted colored shoes.  I just couldn't find the right color.  So I went with silver flip flop type heels, very cute but not seen.  Being married just 2 days ago I had on silver shoes and turquoise nails ( I got more comments on my toe color than my dress)  and ended up barefoot for the entire reception
  • My colors are black, antique, and eggplant. I'm a tennisshoes kind of girl so I actually ordered my own black/ivory/purple tennishoes at nikeid.com. So girl it's whatever you want! Rock em!
  • My shoes had friggin lasers on them.
  • My shoes are silver, and I love them!

  • I am wearing ivory at the cermony and then teal (or purple) during the reception. It's your day! My mom hates the idea, sucks for her!
  • I'm wearing red shoes. When I first told my mom, she just about had a cow. She was trying to get me to wear white for the wedding then switch to red for the reception. Everything is in the same location though, so we're going from wedding to receiving line to reception.
I have a red flower to wear in my hair. She's now accepted it all after seeing it all together. This has happened with my mom on a few of my ideas that are less traditional.
  •      I, too, think you should wear shoes you love.  My feet are spoiled, so I had to shop for purple Birkenstocks!  I couldn't really find any white ones I loved in my size, so I went with purple.  (Birk's are all I wear--no other shoes are wide enough!)  Shoes that love your feet are important, too! Tongue out
  • Good Christ. I wish the thread would just fucking die already. Do you guys honestly think that this is still a burning issue for the OP?
  • I'm wearing my favorite pair of purple velvet slingbacks with gold detailing. They were a b-day present from my parents and purple is my fav color. At my parents wedding in the 80s my mom wore sparkly clear vinyl pumps that looked like Cinderalla slippers (I loved playing in them when I was little!). We just aren't "white shoe" people.

I think your shoes are adorable and fun! They say a lot about your personality and you should 100% go for it :) No one's going to see your feet anyway (assuming you have a long gown.) And your FIs going to be so mesmerized by how beautiful you are, he isn't going to care what's on your feet.

Plus, you can wear them after the wedding :)
