Wedding Woes

omg mrs.conn - work related

working emails here.

normally we allow 24 hours to respond to an inquiry. it's more of a 2-4 hour turnaround because the volume is minimal, but we allow 24 hours due to any unforseen ciscumstances.

so then why is this person emailing me one hour after they sent their request (a similar request to the other 17 emails that came before it) asking if it is being processed and to inform me it is urgent?

i want to scream so bad. calling and sending follow up emails only delays the process.

  • OMG, I hate the follow-up emails.  Except for the fact that it's free production for me.

We're supposed to have 24 hour turnaround.  Right now I'm downloading from the 16th.

its not that busy for me, so if they expect a reply in an hour it's not unreasonable. but FFS, at least give me a chance to work the request.

from the time i open the email to the time i process it and send the "this has been completed" follow up, it all takes about 20-30 minutes. so she basically gives us enough time to get the email and process it. forgetting that she isnt the only one emailing me out of the 100k other employees.
  • Employees are always worse than customers.  Customers tend to put their email through and come back to it later, where employees are just there waiting and can keep calling and emailing back.

  • How many e-mails do you normally process in a day?

    it's always different.

when we take on new business, we can get anywhere up to 100 wmails a day. at one point i was responding to 100-150 emails in a day just because we had a turnaround time to honor.

today i think i have done maybe 25, which is not so busy and my day isn't over yet. there's no set amount. the process is just to build their profiles in our system.

  • Does everyone in your position take phone calls and process e-mails?  Do you get put on e-mails alone or do you have to do them in between calls?

i back up several desks. today i am working emails because the one who usually does this is out today, and i am the regular back-up for this position. i'm one of maybe 3 or 4 agents who are cross-trained on different desks.
  • I see.  :) Fun times.

    are yours between calls?
  • Nope.  E-mail all the time (usually).  If we have to take calls, we're pulled off email.

I need to apply for that job. I need a break from the phones sometimes. actually, most of the times.
