are you registering for china?

Re: are you registering for china?

  • I would love to register for china.  I love to cook and I love to entertain.  But, FI thinks it is ridiculous.  I don't think I'm going to be able to convice him to let me add it to our registry.  : (

He says his mom has china.  But, I would like it and us it now.  If we waited until we inherited it from her, I'll be pushing 70!!
  • We aren't registering for it because we live in a small apartment and only invite friends over for casual dinner parties that don't require the use of fine china. We have nice everyday dishes, flatware and glasses that I'm able to "dress up" with the right decor for every occasion. Plus I'm going to inherit my mom's and grandma's china sets so, unless in the future I find something I like better than those, we'll be all set :)
  • Yes!  And I can't wait to use it!

Neither FI nor I will be inheriting (a full set) china because it's my family's tradition to give a place setting to each child after the owner passes.  Everyone ends up with a place setting from each of their ancestors, but no complete sets.  His family doesn't spend money of "frivolous" things, only Harleys and jewelry.... (eye roll  Undecided).

We host dinners often, love to cook and entertain, like to make any occasion special, and already have all of our necessities.
