That's true, Beachy. I would hate to be disappointed by the casting. I questioned a lot of the HG casting though, and I ended up thinking it was perfect.

Me too. I just reread them and I'm still team Katniss dies alone.
Ok, guys...I'm watching this week's House (does anyone still watch House??) and they're giving a fucking doll an exam and MRI. I DON'T GET IT THIS IS WEIRD WTF HAPPENED TO YOU, HOUSE?!
Howdy. I have a killer headache. I'm so glad this week is over. I wish I had a bottle of Pinot Grigio... I would drink the whole thing right now, no glass required, thanks.
J&K, it's nice to hear you say that you thought the HG casting was perfect. I haven't read the books, so I can't say, but I read some strange articles on CNN about how people were freaking out that some charcters were black. One person said on twitter that she thought it was "awkward" when she realized that Rue (I think?) was a black girl instead of "an innocent little blond girl." Glad to hear not everyone was shocked by the casting. Those books are next on my to-read list, I just need to get to the bookstore...
I stopped watching House when he went off his rocker on pills and lied about sleeping with Cuddy - the season that cop was trying to get him arrested or de-licensed or whatever.

That is really weird. I never got into House... I heard it was really good back in the day, but that it got less good as time went on. I've seen a few episodes here and there and I know it's supposed to be amusing that he's such an ass, but I definitely wouldn't want him to ever be my doctor.

Yeah, we stopped watching for a season (it started going downhill when the original team left....the first time) or two, but then started again. I'm glad it's over though.
Snail, it says in the books that Rue and Thresh are "dark skinned" or something like that. I don't understand at all why that suprised people. It was pretty obvious to me.

I think Rue was just the cutest little thing, and she did such an awesome job, and I feel so sad that she had to see that people said that shiit about her.

I knew Rue was dark skinned, but she wasn't how I pictued her. I think the hair kind of threw me off. The movie was pretty well cast in general though.
I totally missed the part about them being dark skinned the first time I read the book, so I was pretty shocked at the casting. I was picturing basically Dakota Fanning in my head for Rue. But then that line was pointed out to me and I felt like a reading failure. I never cared about the casting of her, just was thrown off by it at first.
Ahhh I'm such a sap. I just watched the episode of Big Bang Theory where Sheldon hugs Penny because of her Christmas gift and I cried. Again. I don't know why that gets me EVERY TIME.
I'll admit I sometimes skim over the author's description of how a character looks in a book, or the author won't say the character's hair color or something until I've already decided how it looks, but I don't get all up in arms when they look different than I pictured in the movies, FFS, especially if it's cohesive with the author's description.

It actually drives me nuts when an author doesn't describe a character right in the beginning. I can't picture them without a description, damn it! I end up picturing some vague female or male figure with no real characteristics. I guess I don't have much imagination.
I actually don't really picture characters. I mean, I do, sort of vaguely, and I can see them in my head, but I could never describe them to someone else. I don't even think that makes sense. Sometimes I picture myself as the main character. That's probably really weird.
FWIW, I think I could play Tris fabulously. But I also thought I could totally play Katniss. I miss acting. I wish I had time to get involved with local plays and stuff.
Like blob people, angelstar? I can kinda do that. But I always randomly pick a hair color. Then I find out I'm wrong and try *really, really hard* to make myself change the picture in my head, but it doesn't work.
I would love to, Loops, and I've thought about it fairly seriously. None of the rehearsals fit in with my schedule before, and I haven't seen anything since I got my new job. I really wish I would have done it while I was unemployed back in the day.
Most of the stuff around here that I have seen is all musical theatre though, and while I can sing passably, I can't sing well enough for a role, and chorus is boring for me. I wish there was more non-musical stuff.

Kind of likea silouhette with no detail. I totally agree though if I get a description in my head, I can't change it.
J&K - I hear ya. I did a little bit of theater in junior high, but then swimming took over my life. It was fun though . I can't sing well enogh to be more than chorus either .

Aw, we're like twinsies. I did most of my theatre in middle school, and then high school swim season was always during the musical and winter play, so all I could ever do was the spring student directed one acts, and I always got type cast for those which sucked. Or I'd have a friend directing that wanted me so they just plugged me into the role they wanted and I had no chance at anything else. They were fun though!
I got a performing arts scholarship for college for acting, so I did a fair amount of theater up until about two years ago when I graduated. I really, really miss it, but I could never go to rehearsals because of my work schedule, so I can't really do community stuff. Sucks.
