We just got a call. They have not even started the ceremony yet. It was to start 2 HOURS AGO.

I would have been pissed to have sat for 2 hours (really more, because I'm always 15 minutes early) and still no wedding.

Is this the islander wedding?

I don't know where these people are from, but I do know that in many places in the south pacific, it's common place for everything to run very late and for no one to be in a rush to do anything.

My friend's boyfriend is from PNG. She tells me that time is a non-issue for them, and things like 'getting to the airport on time' don't have any urgency to them as it would in our cultures- thus when they're relying on his family to take them to the airport, they arrive about 15 minutes before the plane is about to take off, and even then, stop on the way to chat to friends etc. Apparently everyone does this, so everything is always running late.

DH's #2 is from the islands, but lived in the states for many years. He says "it's an island thing, you white people just do not understand, I will let you know when it's time to go the reception". He agrees that it is ridiculous, but knows there is no changing island people.
