[QUOTE]Will you have chairs for the few people invited to the lake ceremony? I don't get inviting 255 people to a wedding if budget is super tight.  I know cake/punch/fruit is economical, but still.

<div>yeah....i'm trying to figure that out. the ceremony will only be about 10 minutes long, and then pics.  so i think we are just going to have folding chairs for the church for people after that. and we are bringing big blankets for the kids, and some toys and stuff for during pics</div>

Disappointed: I would love to afford a big, catered weding.

Happy with our choice: I am happy that we are able to do the best we can with limited resources.

Yes,  I know that probably only makes sense to me!

I love my FI more than words can say, and at the end of the day we will be married, and that's all that matters!!

  • Pirate...how long have you been married?  Do you have kids?

    Is anyone else here?

  • We were married Oct '10, no kids, just the pup.
  • I'm here, in between commercial breaks while watching Mad Men.

I have an honest question for you: why don't you just scrap the big wedding, save your money for when your FI moves out of his parent's house and while you're job searching, and just elope instead? You have everyone's address, so sending out marriage announcements wouldn't be that difficult. Just a thought. It sounds like your money situation is a huge stressor for you, and spending it on a wedding where you have to make compromises seems like a waste to me.

    <div>Money is a HUGE stressor for me!!</div><div>
</div><div>Answer: FI doesn't want to elope.  We've talked about it, and almost did it.  But he is divorced, so he wants to make sure he's not rushing in to another bad decision.  And we are doing pre-marital counseling (required by pastor - but we would still want to, I think) and he wants to make sure that is finished first.</div><div>
</div><div>PLUS - I already spent more money on the invitations than I would want to waste.  I just haeve to keep believing it will all work out.  I have a plan, and a budget for us...so I think we can do it.  The last big expense we have before the wedding is to finish paying off the photographer.  FI just finished paying off our rings, so it's all good.</div>
