I am 19 and getting married this month, my fiance is 21. In public it seems people think we're even younger than we are. I'm just wondering how that will affect being married, being an adult, and not relying on our parents for certain things anymore.
A few weeks ago, I went with my mom to her doctor appointment, and in the building it's in, you have to check in as a visitor at the front desk. My mom asked the lady if I needed to check in too, and the lady looked right at me and said, "You're not an adult, are you?" I was like, "Well I'm 19." and she just said, "Oh, then yeah."
Then the other day, my fiance and I were working on stuff in our future home, and a sales guy came to the door. My fiance answered and the guy asked if his parents were home. He said, "No, I own this house." and the guy just said ok and walked away. Which was hilarious!
I said, I guess that's a good thing cause we can just say our parents aren't home and no sales people can bug us, haha!
I guess I worry people won't take me (or my fiance) seriously as adults. Anyone else feel the same way?
