s/o how to use ardell lashes

Anybody have any advice on this? I wanted to use the individual lashes so they looked more natural and ended up getting them stuck to my eyelid and it stung like holy heck. I'd really like to use them but I'm petrified it's going to happen again.

Re: s/o how to use ardell lashes

  • I only do strips, so I don't have application tips for individual lashes.  I will say that oil based makeup remover will unstick the lashes.  I use Clinique's Take the Day Off.  Not sure what the burning was from.  Are you allergic to the glue?

Not that I am aware of. The back of the package says "Do not let it touch your eyelid" and I did accidentally, so I assumed the burning was because the glue is not intended to touch  skin..

Individual lashes take a really steady hand and a lot of patience. I can do them, but it takes me 30 minutes. I find the strip lashes easier. You do have to just kind of set the individual ones on your lashes as close to the lid as possible. I don't recall any burning by getting them too close.

Would you be open to trying the Ardell 110s? They look like individual lashes stuck to a clear band and are much easier to apply.

Oh and just a safety note: individual and strip lashes use two different kinds of adhesive. Don't mix 'em.

Yes - this is something I'm open to. Where can I get these? Can I get them in my local drugstore/Sephora? This sounds more like what I'm looking for.

Ardell is carried in most drugstores.  Drugstore.com also has them:<div><a href="http://www.drugstore.com:80/ardell-fashion-lashes-strip-lashes-110-black/qxp21720?fromsrch=ardelll" rel='nofollow'>http://www.drugstore.com:80/ardell-fashion-lashes-strip-lashes-110-black/qxp21720?fromsrch=ardelll</a></div>
  • Goldie's right. Most drugstores, plus Target, Walmart, and Sally Beauty all carry Ardell. Actually tracking down the 110s might be a little harder, but if nothing else, you can order them online.
  • Thanks guys, I'm going to find those, they sound much easier than the other ones I was trying!
  • Also try using a different adhesive, use eyelash DUO adhesive, it is a really good brand and highly recommended. It's about $7 but well worth it.

  • I'm going to use the individual ones, because I agree that they'll look more natural. I've never heard of the burning. I'd suggest using a different adhesive, for sure. I like "Lash Grip" you can get it at Target. If you need tips on applying them, I'd say make sure you have a steady hand and some good tweezers. Also, be patient and don't get frustrated if you have to try a couple of times to get them just right.

I use Ardell Lash Grip glue with strip lashes - I've never heard of an eyelash glue that isn't supposed to touch skin. I place my false lashes on my eyelid just above my real lashes. My tip is to apply the line of glue to the strip and let it set up for about 20 seconds before applying. Then it's a little stickier and gummier and stays in place more easily.

  • I use strip lashes daily, have for 8 years. (lost mine after gastric bypass in 2001). I use DUO glue and one small tube lasts me months.

I take the strip, apply the DUO and like PP said, I blow on it gently and let it "set" it adheres much easier. I then place as close to edge as possible then using tweezers, I place exactly where i need them. I take the back of the tweezers, pressing strip down and holding there in place a few seconds. After a few minutes, when it dries, I take a liquid eye liner , and apply. It hides the strip and like I said, I have been wearing these strips every day of my life for 8 years, and when others find out, they are amazed they are fake. The ONLY time people know, is when I switch it up and buy super long or thick ones for a night out or party.

    Good Luck
