Re: Evening Thread Goes Here

  • I had blue underwears on for my wedding day too Eagles : )

I just kind of wish we weren't too exhausted for H to appreciate them in a more *cough* physical way.

[QUOTE]Are all your liquor stores state run in PA?

Unfortunately, yes. So unless I want to go to DE at 10 at night (I don't) I have to get it before or be SOL.

  • I had no idea about that Angel. The only state I've been to with state liquor stores was Utah. I can run out and get alcohol all over the place at any hour of the day here in good old Illinois, haha.

Eags, yep, it was my something blue. I had blue underwear but my mom bought a pair that had "Bride" written in rhinestone on the butt as a joke, and I figured I might as well wear those, haha.
  • Eagles, I just moved to the area (we're actually 20 mins outside of the city, so not actually in Philly) with FI 2 months ago. We're living in his hometown and I really like it so far. I'm originally from a small town outside of Baltimore, MD. FI and I have been together for 4 years, engaged for 4 months. We have 2 cats, Raja and Dory, and that's them in my sig. Raja is the one standing, Dory is hissing (the pic immediately followed catnip being sprinkled on the scratching post). I'm a nanny, and I'm also in school for early childhood education, and I feel like I'm rambling pretty horribly here. Sorry about that!
  • Okay, I'm effing done. I'm watching Wife Swap and one family is a bunch of guys that treat their mom/wife like a slave and she has been like brainwashed to think that's okay. It's making me feel stabby. I need to change the channel.
  • Love that bracelet!

And hi, all!  H is at a conference in NOLA and won't be back til late so I'm skipping the gym. I usually pick him up from work and we go straight there but it's hotter than hell right now so I'm staying put. I might do 30 DS once it cools down upstairs.

  • Poke, I love/hate Wife Swap! Did you see Celebrity Wife Swap?
  • No, I didn't. I actually only started watching it with MIL when I was in England for the past two summers. We would sit in the living room with our bowl of cereal, she'd have coffee and I'd have tea, and we'd watch that and sometimes Judge Judy or Supernanny.
  • Judge Judy scares the sh!t out of me.
  • Hi!  I'm done for the day.  Going to sit in my hotel room, drink water, maybe snack on trail mix if I get hungry later, and play with the internets tonight.  My flight back to the land of smoke and flames is early tomorrow morning.  I'm glad the fires aren't currently anywhere near my house, but I know people who are closer and and on the verge of evacuation so I'm nervous for them.

  • Cookie, I live outside the city as well.. probably about 30 minutes or so outside, depending on who's driving, haha. Driving in the city actually terrifies me to my core. I won't do it.

  • Eeek - I don't think I could handle being so close to those flames. I hope your friends are going to be okay!
  • Cookie, I'm a nanny too! I could never be a pre-school teacher though. I'd probably go nuts.
  • I've never been to Philadelphia, so I don't know how driving is there, but I adore driving through Chicago. My cars enormous so I feel powerful. Is that weird?
  • Damn, this long of an evening thread already?!  You ladies work fast!

I'm cooking dinner, we have guests tonight.  I went over to my new place earlier and it's looking pretty good, although it needs to be aired out (it's kind of musty).  Making pasta, garlic bread, and pear cherry crumble right now.  Nothing's from scratch except the garlic bread (I'm still learning to cook).

  • Angel, same! We went to the city on St. Patty's Day, somehow not realizing what day it was, and I was almost crying because I was so freaked out. People were literally running in front of cars like it was nbd.
  • Bay, your place sounds like the place to be for dinner tonight!
  • Y'all should come over.  Just saying...

We have way too much food for only four people.

  • Hey Bay!  You ended up getting a new place?  When do you plan to move?  Pasta is yummy.  Judge Judy tells it like it is.
  • Oh - and I also love Judge Judy. My cousin was her for halloween.
  • Aryn- that's awesome! I'm guessing from your sig that you just graduated? Congrats! Edie- I do like her, I would just probably pass out if I was ever in her courtroom. She's very...stern.
  • I don't know, I feel like anyone with half a brain could easily stand being in her courtroom. Most of the people that she deals with are so dumb.
  • Mmm, maybe I'll have pasta tonight. I haven't quite gotten the hang of cooking for one again though so I have tons of leftovers in my fridge already. Woops
  • Loopy, my mom and I are going to clean out the rest of it on Friday before I go babysitting.  There's still some stuff of my grandpas that needs to be sorted, so it's going into the attic for now.  And then I'm going to start moving some things over on Saturday.  H is helping me on Saturday and my parents are helping me while he's at work on Sunday.  My first night there will be Sunday, as long as I can get an internet hookup (I am lost without my internet, sad but true).

  • The fires make me so sad. My cousin in Utah was evacuated. I can't remember if I said that last night, but oh well.

Aryn, cooking for one sucks. I think I'll steal some food from my lunch meeting today and eat that for dinner.
  • Hi ladies.   Just  playing with the dog and waiting for DH to get off work, wondering if I should take a glass of the already opened wine.

Things I do not miss about Philly   ---- State stores and the Schuykill Expressway.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • My house burned down my senior year of high school. I really feel for the people dealing with those fires.
  • Eags - Baltimore was kinda cool.  Found some good eats.  Good visits with our suppliers.  A worthwhile trip.  Sad I didn't manage to meet up with any Knotties though :(.  The lack of vehicle made it hard, I think.

Bay - that's good.  I hope you can get internet hooked up.  I was without it for about 36 hours when I moved into my apartment here in Denver and it was awful.

    We're Married!! And I couldn't be happier!
  • Lynda, I hate the Schukyll. Luckily, 95 takes me most of the places I need to go in the city.

Ok, I'm going to try take a nap. I'll be back later... hopefully with wine.
