  • My nails look awful when I paint them. I don't have steady enough hands.

My cousin just graduated the other day. On my mom's side, there are 8 grandkids. Of the 8, 3 of us are girls. We are the only ones to graduate high school besides my brother. My grandparents like to say that the girls are always showing up the boys. it's not hard though, since the most of the guys are, well, not exactly admirable people.
  • I should go post a disclaimer in that post. haha I'm definitely not that talented.

I have gotten pretty good at painting my nails though. I still get stuff all over my skin, but it comes off pretty easily under cold water ;)

  • I haven't painted my nails  since the night before wedding, a kind of blue/silver color.  I was so frustrated trying to get it right, my hands shaking like they always do. Finally H's BM's wife took over and made them pretty.

Shush. I totally do this when I've painted my nails really well and I might want to show off on the internets.

yup, its apparnetly a problem theyre working on.

Atleast when they fix stuff, they dont totally break everything else like TK. They fixed their follower counts last week and it totally works now lol
  • My nails are a mess. I was a biter from childhood until my mid twenties. When I finally broke the biting habit, I started picking at my cuticles. Tim is always telling me to "stop picking", but I just can't help it. I do it without even thinking.

  • me too, Jen.  Does treating yourself to a manicure help?  I never want to screw them up after paying $15, so I'm pretty good for about a week. If I do it a few times, it helps break the habit.
  • I think I'd ruin a manicure in a heartbeat. And definitely a pedicure, since I'm barefoot most of the time.

I have a weird habit of messing with my fingers, wringing my hands together, twisting my rings, etc, and as a result have these kind of calluses on them, both sides. There's no point in painting my nails, with the torture I put them through.

<div>I'm a lifelong biter.  I've tried everything (I even asked for advice on now to stop on TK before and tried everything people suggested) and I just can't stop.  I don't even realize I'm doing it until H yells at me to stop.  It's bad. </div>

  • LP, I don't know if I suggested this when you first posted for advice, but when I was younger I had a nail biting problem. My mom put this stuff on my nails that is used to help kids stop sucking their thumb. It's a really bitter, hot, disgusting liquid that you wipe on and let dry. After getting a few mouthfuls of that, it was pretty easy to leave my nails alone.

I've only had a few manicures, and I was good for about a week as well. Once the nail starts to grow a bit I just start picking away.

<div>I haven't tried anything for thumb sucking specifically, but I have used the bitter tasting nail polish stuff.  It does taste bad, but I still bit anyway.  Maybe I need to look for the thumb sucking version though and try that.  Thanks!</div>

<div>I have had acrylics, and they did keep me biting through, though I still tried.  But my nails are already so thing from years of biting, and the acrylics were making them even more thin/damaged, so I stopped after a few times. Plus they are expensive to keep doing all the time.  But thanks for the suggestion!!</div>

  • What's the goopy stuff that they put over fake nails? If you file the tops of your nails a bit (for a good grip) and then you put that goopy stuff on, it's pretty hard to bite through.

  • Have you guys seen the ads for Rock of Ages movie?

It drives me absoulutely insane.  When I worked at Coyote, if "Pour some sugar on me" came on the jukebox we had to stop what we were doing, get on the bar, and do the dance.  And since the jukebox was paid by the customer and they could jump songs etc, it used to come on effing 50 times a night.  That song haunts my life.

I hate acrylics. I feel like my finger nails are suffocating with it on.
