Anyone up? Morning

You're not all on vacation yet? Morning. The ahr we went to was fun. Lol good down home stuff on the farm I tell you. Burlap table cloths, burgers and hot dogs and potato salad and pie. Oh and fireworks. One guy got nailed in the head and then the gifts started on fire

  • Wait for serious?  Did you get pictures?

Morning.  I'm up.  It's supposed to be hot as shiiiit here today.  I'm just glad we have power, unlike the people that got that awful storm.  I work all week except Wednesday, but I very well may be the only one working Thursday and Friday, ha.

  • I'm pumped for a Wednesday off.  I keep telling myself "just two days until a day off, just two days!  And then just two more until the weekend!"

  • Wow AATB, that sounds like...fun. I'd also love to see pictures of the blazing gift pile.

I'm just working today and tomorrow and then we're off to CT. I am so looking forward to a break. The next two days are going to be really hectic though. Luckily we had a very relaxing weekend so I almost feel ready to face my to do list.

More crazy storms rolled through last night and kept us awake. The dog was freaking out and ended up in bed with us. We luckily kept power and the car, which was under a half-dead tree, was fine. A lot of people we know haven't had power since Friday.

  • Us too, AATB.  High of 96 today, heat index of 105.  Blech.  It's sticky too.  It's supposed to be like this all week.  Do me a damn favor, and start sucking some Canadian air down here, eh?  And not the hot crap from right over the border.  Go up towards to the top of the hat.

  • Also, I just realized I'm probably a huge asshole for my first response to someone getting hit in the head with a firework and starting the gifts on fire being "Pictures?????"

Whoops.  Sorry dude that got hit in the head.  Hope you're ok.

Ben had to take a week off so he doesn't work at all this week. I have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off. I can't wait to get to the lake.

I'm up and tired as hell. I didn't sleep worth a damn last night. We had power on and off over the weekend, and our internet, cable, phone have also been out (separate than the power issues) We had power this morning, but still no internet and whatnot. We're supposed to leave for vacation Wed. morning, but that might not happen now since we couldn't get laundry and all the pre-vacation stuff done this weekend. Hopefully we'll get caught up and not get delayed by a day.

Work is going to be hectic today and tomorrow...trying to get everyone taken care of and caught up before I'm out for a week and a half. I think I'm getting put back on a black project, and so help me if they don't still have my fingerprints and all that jazz on file. If I have to run around and try to get that stuff done in the next two days also, I'm gonna lose my mind.

  • Lol no you're not an asshole j. It sounds tacky but it wasn't suppose to be a nice thing, they got married in Jamaica a few months ago and just wanted a farm party with friends. Lots of people stayed the night in tents in the backyard lol.

  • Morning. I feel like crap. My stomach issues (doc says gastritis, but who knows) are acting up and I feel so nauseous. I know it will pass in a few hours, as this happens frequently, but god it's hell for those few hours. I hate feeling like I need to vomit and looking at the computer makes it worse.

Weekend was good. Friday Mehg and I hung out with our Hs until like 1:30 am. They are totally awesome. What's funny is that my H was all grumpy because he had to call off work early to go out to dinner, and by the end he was all, "We should invite them to come over and hang out. Let's build a fire." The rest of the weekend was just cleaning.

Ugh. I think I'm gonna ask about working from home today.
  • Morning!

J, we're used to that from you. ;)

I did a ton of shiiit yesterday, which should have tired me out, but instead, inexplicably, made me more wound up. I probably didn't get to sleep until about 4 and then I kept waking up. When my alarm rang at 8, I jumped out of bed. I hate myself today.  At least it's an early start on my errands today.

    AATB that sounds awesome.

We had the weekend from hell. I was annoyed enough with having to go to NY for that wedding, but we sucked it up and were actually enjoying ourselves. Then we get news of all that crazy ass weather in our city. Lots of trees down--we had a little damage but not bad. We were stressed but were going to stay the whole weekend in NY. I mean we were 500 miles from home, not much we could do.

So Saturday, my parents were on their way to our house to clean up the huge branch that fell in yard and get our food out of the freezer. And what happens? They were t-boned by some dillhole that ran that a stop. So my brother calls me at 2 on Saturday afternoon and he's freaking out. Dad had to go to the hospital to get checked out because the EMTs thought he might have a fractured back, Mom is hysterical because she's worried about Dad. I thought my head was going to explode.

So after I got off the phone with my brother, I just broke down and was sobbing. I told H that I just wanted to go home and he packed up all our stuff and said "I'll drive home, you just relax and breathe." We ended up missing the actual wedding, but we did get to see all the family at the rehearsal dinner. My parents are ok, Dad is bruised and sore but nothing broken. Their car is totaled though.

Weekend recap: Spent 16 hours in the car to be in NY for about 15 hours.

ETA: Sorry this is a novel. Also, we don't have power and may not get it back until Friday now. I will die.
  • Ok that is so scary Mara!! I'm glad they are okay but so sorry it was such a rough go of it for everyone!

  • Holy shiiit, Mara. I'm glad your parents are okay, but damn for the car.

I'm seeing all over my FB that people in South Jersey got hit with some bad storms, too, and won't have their power on until the 4-6th. I hope it gets resolved for everyone quickly because this is not the weather to go without power, for people and pets.
  • Duds, no power. Parts of the city have it and parts don't. We are in a neighborhood that had lots of damage, so we'll probably be the last to get power because clean up is taking a while.

Sorry to hear about your H's shoulder. Dislocation is no fun.
  • Morning!
I'm glad your dad is ok, Mara!

what a freaking scary weekend of storms and stuff. everywhere is either too hot, or too dry, or too lightning-y or too hurricane-y. Eeek.

    Cute pic, Jcb!

Nothing much from me, I went to bed at 9 on Friday, Saturday AND Sunday. And I'm still tired. I did have a great baby shower for my BFF though on Saturday and I spent time with my cousins baby-cutest ever.

  • Morning!

I've been MIA because of work.  But, I'm back.  We lost power Friday night and they aren't expecting to get it back on until tomorrow or Wednesday at the earliest.  We've holed up in BF's parents' house to escape the heat.  We've essentially been under heat advisory all weekend, and I don't think that's going to change.  Blah.

AATB - that sounds like it would have been both terrible and hysterical to watch.

Duds - hope your H feels better!

Mara - I'm glad your dad is okay!

  • Good morning.  I'm tired, but I hope to get to bed at a reasonable time tonight.  We had a fun weekend.  On Saturday, we rode on a bar bike with a bunch of friends for our friend's 40th birthday.  This is what it looked like (generic photo, not our actual bike):

We rode from bar to bar. We pissed off a ton of drivers and one of the guys on our bus mooned a car behind us that was filming. I'm sure it's on Youtube by now. The only problem is that the seats aren't adjustable and so neither the birthday girl nor I could reach the pedals on the downstroke. Ow.

Sunday was a day of indulgence.  Went out to breakfast with H, then to see Magic Mike with my girlfriends.  Then, we girls did lunch together, and finally, one of my girlfriends and I went to the Container Store.  Talk about a crack store.  If I had money, I'd do some serious damage in there!!!

Sorry to hear about your folks Mara, glad they're pretty much ok, I'm sure they'll be sore for a few days.

My cousin's wedding is this upcoming weekend so J&K, try to dial down the heat in the MSP area. Kthanx.
  • Morning ladies!

Sounds like some of you had a sucky weekend.

Mara- so sorry about your parents and your power. Hope things are ok soon!

    Duds- Sorry about your husband,

    Mr JCB Good Luck!

Sesh- hope you feel better soon.

My mom and MIL were both without power for quite awhile Saturday, things came back up by the end of the day for both. But they are both old farm women, they handle these things like champs.
Work is short this week, I work today and tomorrow only till 2pm. Then I'm off the rest of the week to go get my mom and bring her up for a visit. I'll have to drive 2 hours down and 2 back, her friend is bringing her as far as Columbus for me. I have my haircut appt Thursday, so I got her a pedicure. Saturday I take her back and spend the night, to visit my son, sister and my BFF's.

Jealous of your Les sighting JCB!

  • Morning.

I had a pretty good weekend. Most of it was spent by the pool.  Yesterday we went and picked up my parents old entertainment center and some other things so now our living room looks much nicer and I'm happy with that.

I think Sadie might be coming down with something.  She got sick in our bed at 2am last night and then got me up at 3am to go outside.  She had a hard time sleeping after that and was pretty warm.  I don't know if that is something vet worthy or not so I'm going to watch her close tonight when I get home.

I have been having trouble sleeping the last few nights.  I keep having the most bizarre wedding nightmares and I'm not enjoying it at all.

  • Morning everyone. I've been out of town on work travel, and while I am not happy to be back at work I am happy to be home.

Peekaboo, I landed at Dulles as the storm hit Friday night.  That was fun. The plane was rocking back and forth, I got trapped in one of the terminals (no shuttle train or shuttle buses) and then waited over 2 hours for my luggage.  I got home to a sick, skinny kitty and no power.  I'm sorry you haven't gotten yours back yet, but at least you have a place to go and dont have to hang out at a shelter.  We were lucky enough to get our power back on Saturday afternoon.

After a week in 112 degree desert weather and a weekend in 100+ humid DC weather, I am looking forward to winter.

  • Good luck Mr. JCB :)

I only had one weird wedding nightmare. I was running late and the BMs (who were all random girls from my HS) didn't care and kept pushing me out of the way when i was trying to get ready. Then my hair, which normally takes forever to dry, was only half dry and half dripping wet, so I had to run to the church through traffic. It made no sense.

Actually, no, now I remember I had another one. I forget what all happened, but I know H's family was drinking in the church and the priest left the mass in the middle and I walked up to the pulpit and told everyone they should be ashamed of themselves. I was wearing a black dress that was too long and the aisle was zigzagged.

    WTF dreams.
  • Last nights dream had many components but the ones that stuck out was that FI's entire family thought dread ocks would be cool for pictures, our venue had to be moved inside of a mall, I left my veil inside a store and the owner said I could only have it back if I paid him 1000 so I stole it and he was chasing me through the mall with my dress, I forgot to finish the seating cards so only half of the tables had them and it was pure chaos.  That was quite the run-on sentence.
    imageVacation
  • Nates just reminded me, neither H or I slept well last night (he may have caught a summer cold), but I kept having dreams about the Hatfields & McCoys last night.

Didnt help we watched the marathon before going to bed.

  • Morning, I had a blast this weekend at my MOH's cottage. We kayacked and even DB joined and went for swims with her life jacket. It was hot though, so the dogs stayed in the cottage with the fans when they weren't in the water. I'm dead tired though... Who knew relaxing all weekend could make you exhausted? Or, it could be the aftermath of a benadryl coma from being eaten alive even though I had on bugspray. Worst part is they like to bite my feet, tops and bottoms. Walking is so fun right now.
  • Morning.

Dmil- I love the new sig pic, lol

Tomorrow is Gias birthday and Im trying to decide if I want to get her a bunch of toys/bones or make her a pupcake.

Im spending the rest of the day trying to figure out what my meal plan is for the 4th.  Today is the last day for people to RSVP

  • Mara, sorry that you guys are still dealing with the crap from the storms, too. Here's a tip if it's going to be a little while before you get power back. If you have any of those solar outdoor lights, or can get some from a Lowes or store that has power near you, use those instead of candles. The candles will put a lot more heat into your house. (way more than I expected) I yanked all of our solar lights from our front walk and used those in vases/candle holders for light in the evening and it helps cut down a little on the heat. Just put them back out in the morning and they'll recharge themselves :) Good vibes for a quick recovery for your folks!
