Happy Spring!

Spring has sprung officially!  We're supposed to get rain last time I checked, but I'm hoping there's a gap in there so that I can take the kids outside to enjoy some sunshine.

I'm just eating breakfast, getting ready to go work out.  Nothing special.

Have a good day everyone!

Re: Happy Spring!

  • Morning!

We're under some kind of fog-mageddon, but it's okay because we only have so much fog because it's warm! YAY! Plus, we're supposed to hit 23*C today (about 73*F for the Amuricans) so I think that means a little trip to DQ today at lunchtime to celebrate the lovely weather. A girl needs a little something to break up the week, even if that week has just started. ;)

Oh, and we booked a trip to Jamaica yesterday and we leave on Saturday. Talk about last-minute. We went to Walmart last night to pick up a bunch of sunscreen and stuff to bring with us and were almost giddy with excitement, throwing things into the cart like we were on a shopping spree. I've been so stressed out lately with the house renos and work that a week at the beach can't come soon enough.

    Have a great day, everyone!
  • Morning!

Jamaica sounds awesome!!! My next beach vacay won't be for another 13 months or so. In trip booking news for myself, we booked our first hotel room for our "honeymoon" in September. Staying at a room overlooking Crater Lake in Oregon-woop!

Weather is gloomy still here but it's going to be around 65 I think? I'm just working and then going to my dress fitting tonight with my sis.

4 days till I get to see Hunger Games too! :)

  • Congrats on booking part of the honeymoon! That's always exciting. When we booked our HM (at the same place we're going to on Saturday, actually) it was kind of special because we'd focused so long on the wedding that it was nice to plan for something after it too.

I forgot about HG this weekend, and I bought a ticket to go with my friend. I guess I'll have to unload it...but that probably won't be too tough to do. Maybe it's just as well that I'll go in a week's time when the theatre's not AS crowded.
  • You know, I didn't even think about trying to buy advance tickets. I just assumed I would try to go to the theatre at like 7 for an 8 show. Hmm. Yeah, the place is going to be a nut house. I NEVER re-read books and now I'm getting this big urge to try to re-read it quick before Sat.

Eh, its been spring for the past month here, the date doesnt really matter. I just found the most awesome thing which gave me a good laugh this morning, http://getoutofherecarl.tumblr.com/ -- hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. I dont really have much more to say than that.
  • Nebb I wasted my entire morning on Modcloth because of your pins. I hope you're happy! That website is actually kind of depressing because I am convinced nothing will fit me, at least not in a flattering manner.

I get to spend about 6 hours today getting trained on a new study. It will be boring as hell but it should at least be useful. I am going to need a lot of coffee this morning.

  • Morning. I don't have much to say besides I'm agitated. I didn't sleep well last night; there was a monster spider somewhere in my bedroom and I kept feeling like it was on me. And my right tricep keeps twitching.

  • Good morning! After my day yesterday, the countdown is on: 8 days until I start my new job!  Get excited (and nervous)!

Sept, definitely jealous of your vacation!  I told H this weekend that I want to plan more beach days this summer.  I mean, we're an hour and a half away from the beach there really is no reason why we can't go a few Saturday's every month!

Annnnd I'm also excited about Hunger Games!  We're going Saturday night!

  • Mehg that sucks. I don't mind spiders outside but it's aa whole different thing when they're in the house. Particularly the bedroom or bathroom. I don't think I would have slept at all in your position.

I am probably going to finally buy into the hype and read Hunger Games next. It's cheap on Amazon so there is no reason not to give it a chance. I put off reading HP for years because I assumed it couldn't be that good and then loved it.

  • Holy Hera, nebb. Your sig gives me a headache. I can't even read your posts because I have to scroll past it so fast.

I refuse to see HG opening weekend. There will be so many annoying people there that it would be impossible to relax and enjoy the movie. We are going next week, mid-afternoon when people are working or in school.

I've been getting ready for an event this weekend and I think I'm finally ready. I had a bitch of a time getting a new phone upgrade but we got it sorted out and now I can take CCs. I have all my marketing stuff. I think now I just have to wait for Friday to drive down to the campsite. I can't wait to get the hell out of here for a few days.

I still flat out refuse to read the hunger games. I was almost talked into it and just couldnt bring myself to do it. I dont read that YA garbage. Blah. Id rather re-read every book ive ever read than read that.

Celtic - I can never buy any modcloth, nothing I like is ever in stock and ive heard that you get totally assfucked by customs if youre buying it from Canada (hundreds of dollars worth of dues) so eff that.

Gosh im pleasant in the morning!

I cant change my sig. Jon Hamm is working his magic on the non-believers to get them to tune in Sunday.

He is sending the mental message "Watch Mad Men, look into my eyes, you want to watch Mad Men"

    See.
  • It has the opposite affect on me, nebb. the only thing I've ever seen that made me want to watch Mad Men was a preview during TWD where he laughed. And I can't explain why other than he looked sexy when laughing.

And please to be explaining what you mean by "YA garbage."
  • Nebb, I'm about as cuddly as a cactus in the mornings, so don't feel bad.

And I can't wait for the Mad Men premiere. I had a dirty dream about Christina Hendricks last night.

sept, I definitely have a jealous.  We never ended up getting to do a babymoon.

mehg, I saw you post on FB about the spider.  Ewwwwie.

Happy carpet and appliances day!  Wahoo!  Derek is home today to supervise everything.  The carpet guys should be there any time between now and 10am, and after 9 I'll be able to check for the 4 hour delivery window for the appliances.

In preparation for carpet we had a slumber party in the living room last night.  We only brought the mattress down and I hadn't realized how much I rely on momentum to get me out of bed in the middle of the night.  When you can't swing your legs down it's a lot harder!!

I feel like ive been waiting for Sunday night all of my life. Nothing compares to my love for Mad Men. Anyone who doesnt, needs to start reading TLo's blog, they do AMAZING Mad Men recaps on mondays.

I cant explain it sesh, I just... have a strong aversion to anything called young adult. Its twitty to me. I think its weird and I have no interest in wasting my time reading crap made for "young adults" that adults happen to like.

I'm doing good! I've got about 6 more episodes of Season 4 left. I'm kinda trying to savor it so that I don't feel any deprivation in between now and the premiere.

Good to know. I guess I shouldn't call my next book YA anymore then, lest it be considered crap.
  • I don't know.  Maybe I interpret the meaning of "young adult" differently.  I just take it to mean that it's suitable for young adults, not that it's solely intended for young adults and therefore dumbed down or garbage...

  • Raynes - I have room for you in the suitcase, if you want. Seeing as how none of my clothes fit (mother EFFER!) you and baby Raynes will fit in just fine. I won't tell the airlines how far along you are, either. ;)

And speaking of spiders, as I'm driving to work today, a spider decides to eeeeever so slowly dangle itself off my sunshade and hang there. And it wasn't one of those little spiders, no, it was the SIZE OF A DIME. Hurgh. I almost drove off the road. I hate the bloody things.
  • I'm not sure I consider HG to be YA. It was pretty violent, I don't think I'd let a kid younger than 16 read it. I think there is some really well written YA books and some poorly written YA books, but the same goes for adult fiction (and non-fiction).

My BFF and I are going to see the midnight showing of HG. I'm so excited! I love going to midnight shows! Plus I have Thursday and Friday off, so I don't have to worry about coming in to work the next day.

More people have this opinion than you may think. I once had a guy ask me if the reason my last two books were written so younger audiences could enjoy them (taking out cuss words, overly sexual parts, etc) is because it's too hard for me to attempt writing at an adult's level.

It's pretty hard to offend me, but insinuating that a YA author isn't smart enough to write for adults? Yeah, that guy took the cake.

I don't know about this mentality, sometimes. I've got a lot of friends who are teachers of kids in the intermediate years and into high school and so many of them are thankful that there are series out there like HG that appeal to their students and to older people alike. I almost think it's harder to write for that age group (the younger set) sometimes, since so many of them have the attention span of a gnat. If an author can write a series that can keep a kid in that age range engaged long enough to sit and read (as opposed to playing HALO for 5 hours) then I think that's an accomplishment in its own right.
  • shay, I love a nice, pretty range hood.  We went practical with the over-the-range microwave.  In my forever home I will have an induction range and a pretty range hood.

sept, I've probably got some pants I can pass on to you if you want.  I've got some grey ones that I've maybe worn twice that I got at Motherhood, size L.  Shirts wise, pretty much live in my maternity cami's and flowy cardi's.

And the carpet guys have arrived!  Wahoo!!  And, appliances are scheduled for delivery between 9am - 1pm.

  • Mornin!

It's absolutely beautiful today :)  Too bad I work inside.  On Thursday I think it's supposed to reach 80 degrees.  This weather definitely makes me miss playing lacrosse.

Today is another average day.  I'm finishing up some loose ends and hopefully going to the gym tonight.  ALSO this horribly awful song that is super catchy is stuck in my head: "Call Me Maybe."  The video features a lot of Disney Channel stars and the Biebs.  It's so obnoxious, yet, I can't get it out of my damn head.
