It's eveningtime

I have minimal concept of what day it is for some reason. It feels like Sunday, but it's Saturday (but hey one extra day of weekend than what I thought!)

I'm sitting around and peeking on craigslist for places for rent around where we're likely moving.  I need to do dishes, but other than that it's wine and TV until H gets home.  I'veonly been away from him since Wednesday but I've never missed him this much.  I'm guessing it's because it's been such an emotional week.

What's everyone else up to?  Any fun bday night plans Anna and Edie?

  • Hey chels!

I'm so bored. Like always, pretty much. I'm watching wheel of fortune right now and the one girl's hair is pretty terrible. Ha.

I had trouble with the day too, especially because, for some reason, my mail wasn't delivered today. So weird.

  • hey. Good luck on the apartment hunting, chels! You should check with the college and see if they have a listing service? (you're moving to Point, right?)

I'm here. Pouting and avoiding H so I don't unnecessarily b.tch him out. He had a few friends over today to haul a TON of rock. They were going to be here like noon-6 (with us feeding them dinner.) Around 5 he asked me, in front of them, if they could all stay and watch the fights tonight.  No. I'm tired and I don't feel well and I don't want to play hostess anymore. Theyr'e here, but I really hope they don't stay until midnight.

Other than that, not much going on. I should really be cleaning or doing laundry or something.
  • Yuck Steph! Can you watch tv or read in the bedroom?

  • They're downstairs, and I'm upstairs. Really? it doesn't matter, and rationally I know that. But now I can't walk around the house in a sports bra. and be whiny. ;)
  • Yep moving to Point, Steph!  That's a good idea, but I don't want to end up in a duplex/apartment/townhouse near a bunch of other college kids.  We still have to figure out the dtails of H's job, so I'm not hunting TOO hard yet :)
And sorry about all of his friends in the house. I don't blame you for being frustrated.

Hike, that's weird on the mail thing. Maybe you guys just didn't have mail today?

And now I'm pissed at NY&Co. I went there today and got a BUNCH of stuff on clearance and tried to use my teacher discount but the manager tried to tell me I couldnt use it with clearance.  Which I knew was crap and I told her I had used it before with clearance w/o an issue.  She still wouldn't let me.  I jjust checked their website and sure enough, clearance isn't against the discount rules.  I'm just trying to decide if the extra $15 is worth a trip back in at some point tomorrow.
  • I'd go back Chels.

Who knows about the mail? So weird. We've never not gotten mail.

That's exciting about the move. Moving has always been fun and exciting to me.

  • oooh that sounds delicious Duds!

My granmda makes this AMAZING oreo ice cream thing (I need to get the recipe) and she made some today for the big family lunch we had. Oh man I had too much of it.  But it's so yummy.
  • Hi!  I feel like I haven't posted in forever.   I'm chilling out, doing laundry/watching the Olympics/looking for furniture online.  Exciting Saturday night for me ;)

Duds, salted caramel ice cream sounds like heaven in a cup, or on a cone.  As does homemade Oreo ice cream.  Damn, I might have to go downstairs and see if we have any ice cream now.

Chels, good luck apartment hunting! How far away are you moving?

  • Good Evening!

We just got back from the market and picking up supplies for a lazy dinner.  My stomach is so sore from eating all that fair food today!  So dinner is going to just be sandwiches and chips.  But they had rainbow bread rolls so I'll be having a rainbow sandwich with my blue doritos and a big glass of rootbeer from my pony-keg of 1919.  Delish!  We're going to switch to PJs soon and spend the rest of the evening in bed watching movies.  Inglorious Bastards first and then Contagion.  Which I'm really excited for.

We called in a Tee time for tomorrow so it looks like Sunday will be golfing day.  I'm trying to figure out if I can sucker my H into carrying my bag though.  Maybe he will because it's part of my birthday?  A girl can hope.
  • Hi LP! How are things?
We'd be moving roughly an hour away.  BIL and his wife are moving to the same town at the end of this month (we actually got jobs in the same district! woo hoo!) which means we will be closer to them too (and H's godson).  And closer to home. And closer to the cabin where we hunt. Win win win all around!
  • Anna, what are rainbow bread rolls?
  • Chels, that's awesome!  So you got a new teaching job for next year, then? Congrats!  I'm sure that feels awesome after all of the stress with your old school.  I hope your move goes smoothly!

I'm doing good, just really busy.  I love my new job.  We are finally starting to make more friends here, so we've been socializing a lot lately, which is nice.  And we are under contract for a house now :)  We close the first week in October and it can not come fast enough!

  • Anna, fair food is the best. Sounds like a great way to spend a birthday!

I'm sitting around watching Puss N Boots and writing. I had a pretty good day, went to Hobby Lobby and got some stuff for my booths. A table easel (which I repainted), a candy dish shaped like a Native American canoe, and some other miscellaneous stuff. I still need a book rack though, which I'll probably order online.

I started reading a new book and I'm annoyed by the punctuation 3 pages in. The author needs to learn how to use a damn hyphen and semi-colon.

Anna, sorry your tummy hurts.  But fair food is worth it :)  Our state fair isn't until October and I'm already looking forward to it.

Inglorious Bastards is amazing.  Have fun with your movie marathon!

    ETA: And Happy Birthday!!

  • How exciting LP! What is the new job?

Yes I got a new job too! I'll be teaching French at the two middle schools in a town in central WI (actually our high school rivals lol).  It's only a .8 but it's still MUCH more secure than my old job.  Not to mention my old job wasn't going to happen anyway.  She emailed me a couple weeks ago saying numbers were too low and gave me her blessing to start looking for jobs. Undecided Right. Like I was waiting for her "go ahead" to start looking for a new job. Crazy lady.  She did give me a glowing recommendation to the new district though, which aided in me getting hired.  So that part is good :)

And WHOA is anyone watching the olympics? That guy that just ran who is missing both his legs?! Incredible! What an inspriation!
  • Pretty! It kinda looks like sherbet
  • Ha, yeah it's a good thing you went ahead and started looking for jobs before waiting for her "approval"!  Glad everything worked out so well.

I am a social worker/therapist for Deaf clients  There are definitely difficult moments, but the rewarding moments fat outweigh them.  I love what I do.

And thanks for the congrats on the house.  I am so excited, but also slightly overwhelmed by the amount of furniture that we will eventually need to get.

<div>Yep!  It's just food coloring swirled into the bread dough but it's a happy memory from when I was little.  My grandma always use to buy it for me.  just tastes like regular bread, but it's pretty.  Mine is more purples and pinks with yellow.</div>

Rainbow bread looks intriguing.  Does it taste more like regular bread, or is it more pound cakey?

ETA: Nevermind, you answered that as I was typing the question.

    Hi!

Chels - I love you for spelling 'sherbet' correctly.
That bread looks fantastic, Anna.  I want to make cheddar apple beer bread tomorrow.  Or more zucchini cheddar bread.

I'm so sore.  I did a group bicycle ride this morning (18 miles), then DH and I spent the entire rest of the day in the backyard.  We cleared weeds, moved dirt, capped sprinklers, made a tree ring, and chopped the juniper from hell back a bit.  (I hate juniper).  It's not even 7 yet and I want to go to bed.  But I need to start laundry and take a shower first.

Les, juniper is the worst. One of H's old customers had a whole backyard of it and it sucked to weed through.
  • Misty May and Kerry Walsh are amazing.  I will be sad in 2016 when they aren't at the Olympics.

  • Les did your H make up for missing your anniversary?
  • Les, sounds like a busy day for you! Can you share the recipe for apple cheddar beer bread?

  • That damn thing is about 7 feet tall, 15 feet long, and 10 feet wide, Sesh.  Builders put it in because it's cheap, but it's such a nasty, unruly plant.  At least some of the sections of trunk I cut are large enough to use for firewood.  DH says I'll enjoy watching it burn.

  • Evening all. Anna that bread looks so cool. I need to try that when I babysit the nieces. We found out today that we did not get the house we wanted to rent. The guy in front of us finally paid his deposit. So back to the search. I'm ready to find something and move already!

He took me to lunch on Wednesday because he felt guilty he forgot.  I'm not going to beat him up over it - he knows I was hurt, and knows he should try harder to remember the date.
