Blue and Star are making me really interested in this Lynn place. I've lived near big cities before but never had to drive around an area because it's so bad. Or maybe I just didn't know better?

Boston is a fun city and is really pretty in spring/summer/and fall (I am just not a fan of brown snow all winter). I can see people being excited to visit the area. Do they STAY in Lynn or just work at the office there?

We might just be wicked snobs. But there are a few places I refuse to drive through. Lynn, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, Haverhill and Lawrence are a some of them.

ETA: Plus, Lynn is on the northshore on the water surrounded by some really beautiful towns. Its a God Damn shame they let it turn into the shitthole it has become.

Hike, I'm sure you can find plenty of Lynn-like areas in Jax. It's the weirdest city ever. One street, mansions and tooty-falooty people. The next street, crackheads and whores.

I am with you on Mattapan, Lawrence and Haverhill. I sometimes drive through JP to get to Hyde Park (family cemetery).

I love Boston, we've taken a couple of vacations there, and honestly the Lynn office is on my list of locations that I'd be willing to transfer to, just so I could live in Boston. But maybe I should re-think that lol.

I'm not sure where they have people stay. I'm thinking Peabody? does that make sense? that's the only other city name I can remember hearing them talk about in the area.

I had to go to a wedding in Lawrence at the old mill on the Merrimack. We literally had to drive through the center of town and there were hookers all over the place.

HaHa. I think I'm just naive. I probably drove through some questionable areas in DC and Pittsburgh and thought I was fine.

I would love to go to Salem. Michael and I had talked about doing our summer vacation in Boston this year, but we've got so much shiit going on, I doubt it'll happen. I wanted to go to Salem the last time I was there, but we didn't have a chance. It's on my list of interesting places to see.

I used to live in Salem. I love it there. I wanted to get married there (Star did!) but the place wasnt big enough so I had my shower there. Its a great place to visit.

My sister lives in Boston so i am up there somewhat frequently. I used to drag them to Salem at least once year but they finally got sick of it and refused to go. It's been several years though so I may try to go again next time, especially since FH has never been.

Flights from Baltimore to Boston are ridiculously cheap but I doubt we'll make it there this year. I usually see her at our family's cottage in CT during the summer.

Probably Regency. It wasn't that bad when I first moved up here, but holy crap has it gone downhill. Last time H and I went to the movies there (2 years or so ago) some crackwhore came up and banged on the window asking for money.

If you're on 95, The Avenues isn't that much farther and it's nicer (and 2 stories!). And, it's pretty close to me, in case you need a shopping buddy.

LHT - I know it sucks, but I'm wishing you the best on your H's upcoming deployment. If you ever need a shoulder to cry on or someone to vent to, I'm always open. Lord knows, I've so been there. I think we're on our 8th or 9th deployment in 2 1/2 years.

Dot - Who would have thought we would wind up where we are now, huh? It seems that I have a tendency to have friction with the people I grow closest to. I should work on that.
