Shawnee Inn

I am looking at Shawnee Inn for our wedding next spring. I have heard great things about the weddings at Shawnee, but I have heard mixed reviews of the accomodations. Can anyone give their opinion of the hotel rooms? Most of our guests will be staying there because it is out of town for them so this is an important part of our decision. Any opinions at all on Shawnee would be appreciated. Thank you!

Re: Shawnee Inn

  • I recently stayed at the Shawnee Inn for a wedding in April (the wedding was held at a nearby location, but we did have the rehearsal dinner there).
The Inn itself historic, the view of the river is beautiful, the giant stairs leading into the lobby are right out of a movie,, there is a huge porch with rocking chairs for relaxing (we often commented about how it reminded us of Dirty Dancing), and the lobby itself is gorgeous!!!  That being said, if you look closely, there are areas where the property could be 'spruced up' (i.e the carpet leading up the stairs was faded and ripped in areas and the whole building could use a coat of paint - I'm sorry, I notice things like that).
Our wait staff and bartender were friendly, polite and very accommodating (small child with food allergies).  All guests were able to use the golf course (chip & putt was free) and at sun-down there was a bonfire with marshmallows!!  I don't know if there is a continental breakfast - but there is a restaurant that serves breakfast and a small coffee/pastry shop in the lobby (which also sells incidentals since the front desk does not provide them!)
The hotel room was alright for my standards.  The wall behind the bed was covered in mirrors (yeah, a little cheesey and out of date, but not 'kinky').  There was very little room to change near the closet and the room could use a bit more lighting.  The bathroom is rather small, but what I found most odd was there was no rack for the hand towel near the sink (again, I notice little things).  The bed and pillows were SUPER COMFY and the linens were clean and smelled amazing!
    Hope this helps!

I haven't been there recently but used to do events there for work like 2 years ago. The porch on the back is nice but the room we always booked (upstairs looking over the parking lot) was nothing special. I know they have other  rooms and a spa. I don't remember their food so being bad I think it was decent. I do thing that the building is in major need of a facelift. I do think if they repainted it then it would be a nice place to get married as the previous poster said they have the river near by and you can do outdoor ceremony there. They also have a brewery or something of that nature in the building that is before the inn.
