Wedding progress update

We had a good progress day yesterday!
  • met with our caterer and finalized our menu and linen selections (we are also using some of their votives with our centerpieces so I got that set up too)
  • filled out our information for the celebrant who is writing our ceremony
  • emailed our photographer to start talking about the epics and get that scheduled
  • emailed our ceremony musicians to start talking about music
We are also planning on going to the formalwear place to look for Scott and his groomsmen, and to the ring shop to look at bands this week. I have a floral appointment set up for Wednesday too.

Yay progress!

Re: Wedding progress update

  • We did house crap!

    Wedding stuff to come soon.

  • Hannah, busy wedding week for you! Nice!

Last Wednesday we had engagement photos taken, and it was a lot of fun.

On Sunday, we met with our pastor and started to plan our ceremony. We still need to choose readings and exact vow wording, but the general concept is decided. Also, our pastor thinks it will be 35 minutes. I had been thinking 1 hour, so this is pretty good news in terms of taking photos. I wouldn't have changed the ceremony just for the sake of photos (since the ceremony indeed is more important), but this was nice to hear.

  • Way to go on getting so much done.

Oh something we learned on the floral appointments.  Go with a budget idea on what you want to spend for each thing and they should be pretty good with working with you.  I had a very conservative budget and they are only $100 more.  I forgot to factor in stupid tax, so personally not bad to me.

I got the detailed wedding day timeline done, cribbed the template off WeddingBee and modified it as necessary. FI approved it. Decided on an afterparty location, the bar where we had our first date. Helped my little sister pick out undergarments and shoes for her dress. My elder sister is making awesome progress on my Etsy inspired beaded hair piece, and I got a little more work done on the second bridesmaid hair piece also. Makes me feel like I accomplished something! :]
  • I've done literally nothing wedding-related in weeks.

  • Awesome progress!

Mom finally picked out her MOB dress:  http://www.jasminebridal.com/ugC_Product_Detail.asp?hidP_kind=MOB&hidP_style=JADE%20COUTURE&hidj_line_order=2&hiddetaillist=01&hidP_Style_ID=K158009

When I got my dress in November it was a dress she found and wanted me to try and, as it turns out, her MOB dress is a dress I found and made her try on (she saw it on the hanger and was not super impressed, but it looked amazing on her!!!)

We received our printed StD's on Thursday, finished compiling the addresses and started getting the envelopes printed and posted.  FI offered to finish stuffing, sealing, etc, tonight while I have choir rehearsal, yay!

MOH and I are headed out to look at BM dresses Wednesday night since we have a reprieve from quartet rehearsal.  Hoping we can find something she loves and get to ordering ASAP!

Flower appt set up for next Tuesday with a Mom and Daughter team that do weddings on the side.  They come highly, highly recommended and only work by referrals.  My only concern is that they already have a wedding on our day, but they can take 2 weddings.  I want to ensure that the other bride wasn't promised that she'd be the only wedding that weekend, that wouldn't be fair.
  • Oh, I forgot to mention - the bridesmaid dresses are in! They were all shipped to my sister's house. Exciting!

  • @Stina - 5 months from yesterday! It was a kick in the butt for me to get moving, especially now that the house stuff is a little more settled.

We have to pick out tuxes, finish music, order the cupcakes/bday cake, assemble/address invites, and umm pay for everything else. This month is going to fly for us. I have every weekend booked up until the third weekend of June. Even that weekend might be full for me. The next few rainy days we have, I will be assembling all of our invites.

We finally have catering finalized!  Thank God.  I ordered inserts for the invites and they should be in tomorrow.  Next on the list is to print the invitations and put them together.

  • He picked up his ring today!!! My ring won't be in until the end of the month, but his is in and he has it and he sent me a picture of it on his hand and I, not kidding, teared up a little bit.
  • We decided that we are doing flipbooks at the wedding...getting some quotes now, but one who has already gotten back to me is having a special that if we book by 6/1 we'd get $400 off...hopefully they have my date available
  • Good morning everyone! (new discussion didn't work so I am just picking this one up)

We continue to knock things off the list...
    • We picked out what the guys are going to wear (black tuxes with grey vests and maroon ties for the guys, ivory for FI)
    • We looked at wedding bands, and I found out they do make one for my ring but it's custom order, so they are calling today with the price - of course they didn't have a photo either - UGH! Also - FI is starting to think about getting an actual ring instead of a $3 stainless steel ring off of Amazon, that makes me happy too!
    • I found the last piece for my centerpieces! (the tray for everything to sit on - only $2!!) Once we get into the new house and I have all the stuff at home I will put one together and post a pic!
We also learned this weekend that I am going to be an Auntie again!! So excited! (top secret though, my SIL's mom doesn't even know yet) - I am just so excited I can't keep it a total secret! Obviously I am not telling people that might let it out to other family. lol

  • Congrats on the pregnancy in the family and all the wedding progress, hannah!

I got the wish tree sign painted this weekend. Now all I have to do is paint the menu, ceremony program, and photo booth signs and I"ll be done. :)
  • Yay, hannah!
    Done done, cooper?? that's AWESOME!!

    • I put in my print order this morning with C&P! Eep!
    • This weekend I started the card box, and my veil. I have attached the tulle to the hair comb, but now I need to figure out how to finish off the edges, including getting the shape I want and attaching the ribbon to it.
    • I decided to go with the aisle runner... mostly because there's one at JoAnns... and I have a 60% off coupon. So... I paid $12 for the aisle runner (yes!!!)
  • Wow Cooper - that's amazing! I Am a little jealous you're so close to being done done. :-)

lp - yay invites! I am sure they are perfect!!

  • I like the usage of recycling an old post and making it current for this week!

This weekend wasn't super productive wedding wise, but we did cross of a pretty big item - we ordered on wedding invitations! Woohoo! And yesterday marked 5 months. Sweet!

Busy weekend for me with little time to do a lot of wedding related things. However...

We did finally get all of our StD's addressed and out in the mail.  Loved how they came out, highly recommend Smartpress.  I do a lot of print ordering for work, but I'm always super nervous when I send out files.

I also managed to find an hour to start working on my DIY shoes.  So far I have the lace applied to one shoe.  It still needs to be cleaned up a bit, but I'm happy so far.  Debating on the satin cross strap, either going to bead with white glass beads, crystals, or a combo.

  • I did absolutely nothing wedding wise this weekend!

But, my BFF/MOH got engaged!!!! I am soooo happy for her.

  • Simply, your shoes are beautiful.  Can't believe it was a DIY project, very impressive.

lplions, what are you doing for a card box?  I'm still clueless on what we are doing.  Thought about the bird house, but then we don't have a house yet.  My mom has an old fashion, or well old mail box she has offered me to use, but not sure.

FI and I worked on the ceremony layout, readings, music etc., and worked on a rough draft of the programs.  Not sure yet if we are printing them ourselves or going through something.  I got 4 of the cocktail centerpieces all done.  Have roughly 12 more to go, but they didn't take long just need to buy more vases, store only had 4 so I bought all they had.
  • All of a sudden, I have this urge to plan more, which isn't very good since I can't do much right now. Menus! Programs! Set up tasting! Talk to photographer about getting all files from engagement shoot. Plan guestbook! Buy RSVP postage!

  • I keep thinking there is more that we have to do.  I suppose after we finalize the program we can work on the menu cards, or at least the Thank you note that we are having on each table.  I do need to figure out the anniversary wine bottles though.
  • @libby18bell, I'm making a small version of the BBD for our card box.

FH wasn't in band, but I was (for all 5 years I was at school). So he can feel like his "after school activity" is included, he has a Glee Club Pete stuffed doll that we will be putting on the table next to the card box.

  • That's an awesome card box.  Love it and it's very unique.  I want something unique also haha.
