My husband brought a kitten home. He's been doing a lot of sweet things lately, so I thought he bought one. He said that he found her on the side of the road and wanted to get her to a safe place before someone ran her over. She has a collar and tag so Randy called the owner and she said "I don't care. I don't want her...and you should have left her on the road to get run over." Oh I could've flipped when he told me. Randy wants to keep her and put up the puppy dog face. I told him we'll have to see how it works out with Annie, beause Annie IS our pet and if she's not comfortable then we can give the cat to my sister for her birthday. I'm off tomorrow so I'm just gonna run her over to the vet and I guess make a trip over to Petsmart to get supplies for her whether we keep her or not. But really? Someone wanted her to be killed?! She's just a baby!

I hope Annie gets along with it! How cute. I really hope that lady gets some sort of reprimand for this. At least a fine.
[QUOTE]I hope you can keep her! What are you going to name her?

I hope we can too! She's so funny. What should we name her? I mean...I just don't know! The little girl across the street called her Bella but we have that as a potential name for our baby (if it's a girl that's what her name will more than likely be)
[QUOTE]If you have her number, I would totally find someone to report the owner to. That's horrible.

Uuuum, yeah. That.

[QUOTE]That owner is a monster. I understand that she might not have wanted the kitten any longer (actually, I don't understand that, but I love baby animals), but to just put it in the street and hope it gets killed? Disgusting.

Glad that you [and everyone else] agrees! I just don't understand how people could hurt an animal...domestic or wild, baby or not. And this little kitty...she just loves everyone so far!
[QUOTE]Your FI should have told her "someone should throw YOU in the middle of the road and leave you there to get run over." Edit: Can you guys report this woman to the local animal control/SPCA society since you have her number?

Yes, we can and are. Randy's on the phone with them right now.
And someone please tell me if it's a truth or myth that you shouldn't handle kitty litter when pregnant?
The story allegedly was that his wife already had a dog that she claimed she found. They were having marital issues, so he brought her the puppy as a gift. Well they kept fighting so that's why he kept throwing the puppy out hoping it would get run over because his wife would be upset. Then he found out that she was cheating on him and her other dog was a gift from her boyfriend. So he came home and shot the dog in front of her, then shot the wife. So yeah...I'm glad we had the dog at that time because he probably would have shot him too.
[QUOTE]I would report her. I wouldn't keep the cat because I dislike cats, but I would take the necessary steps to make sure she was safe. And someone please tell me if it's a truth or myth that you shouldn't handle kitty litter when pregnant?

I've never had cats, so this is all new for me...
If you can keep her, that would be wonderful. To me, she looks like a Stella, or an Abby.

[QUOTE]That's how we got our dog when I was a kid. All of a sudden, this puppy showed up in our yard to play with our other dog. We took him door to door to find out whose dog it was and our neighbor finally found out. It was a house the next street over who kept putting him out in the alley or on the street hoping someone would pick it up or run it over. The story allegedly was that his wife already had a dog that she claimed she found. They were having marital issues, so he brought her the puppy as a gift. So, I just had to pick my jaw up off the floor. That's absolutely terrible!

True. Toxoplasmosis can be caused by a parasite and can be present in used kitty litter.. It's really unlikely and rare, but why would you risk it? Wear rubber gloves when changing litter boxes or better, have your H change them.

You can always toilet train the cat. I did with mine.

Dana - she's adorable! I hope it works out that you can keep her and I'm thrilled you're reporting that evil woman.
[QUOTE]She looks like the baby of my cat...whose name is Bella. I'm glad your H saved her and I hope her previous owners get what they deserve. Karma. <-- name her that! You can always toilet train the cat. I did with mine.

Sounds lame, but how did you manage that?
And I'm going to be heading out for a little bit...so sorry when I don't respond right away

I'm so glad she has a new home (with your or your sister) I hope your Annie likes her (when we got kittens after we already had a 5 year old cat it took about a week of hissing, and now they love each other) so it might just take a few days. Also when we got the kittens (they were also strays) they had fleas...so I'd be careful of that.
And I'd say the kitty looks like a "Frisky"
