Mailing Invitations Out

We are getting married on Oct. 12th and I'm dying to put my invitations in the mail. :)

We just finished putting them all together last night.

Is it too soon to send them out?? Do I need to wait a few more weeks?

Excited bride wants to know headcount! hehe

Re: Mailing Invitations Out

  • We're October 19th and I sent 'em out last Friday! Everyone kept asking for them and when I finally finished assembling them, I just wanted them out of my face ;). Plus, we never sent STDs so I felt like this was good timing.
  • I'm October 5th and we hasn't even gotten ours yet...we're shooting or an August 1st mail date.
  • I'm October 12th and we plan to mail them around August 24th. About 90% of our guest list is out of town and our reply card ask for RSVPs by September 21. So including mail time, that would give our guests around 3 1/2 weeks to get the RSVP back to us and that gives us a week and a half cushion to get back with people we haven't heard from. We have to have a final head count on Oct. 2nd. I actually just ordered mine about 20 minutes ago!!! Super excited and I can see why you want to go ahead and send them out! I'm just afraid people will lose them or forget to return the response card!

  • I'm 10/25 and will probably send mine out in the beginning of August (if my friend is done with the calligraphy that early). My shower is 8/18 and I'd like people to have them before then. I don't see anything wrong with sending them out early though.

I got an invitation at the end of last week for a wedding on 8/10, so just 6 weeks out! I thought maybe we were B-listed but according to friends that's just how the bride rolls. She didn't send out save the date's either.

  • We are October 12th.

The knot says "3 month mark" but I'm thinking 2.5 months is a bit more realistic in what people expect.  My goal is to send them around July 25th-ish. That's about 2 months and 2.5 weeks.

I would like them sent out as soo as possible as well - but am going to wait a bit longer.

  • My wedding is Oct 5 and I am aiming for The first week in August. This is what our Invitations person has suggested, as well as a few others.
  • I'm Oct 12 and I sent mine out a while ago.  I realize that it's much earlier than most timelines, but given the nature of my guest list, I figured sending them out early would be best.

    Quoting issue...sorry...
But have you started to receive rsvp's yet? If so, are the people who respond early generally yes-es or nos?

  • October 5th and they are set to be sent out August 1. My MOH just sent out the shower invites this morning for August 17th.

When you have a quote issue, you can click on the rich text button. It looks like a white page with red brackets in it...it brings up the formatting text. Then just put your cursor after . Makes life much easier. I am doing an online RSVP, so each guest got a password and I made sure the site was setup when the invites went out. We've already had about 1/4 of our guests reply. Most of them were OBVIOUS yesses--My mom, dad, sister, bridesmaid, his parents, etc. A few of them were "Yes or no" that I wasn't sure about. I have new ones coming in every few weeks. :)

We're on the same plan. Shower invites went out today (mom sent them) for 8/10, and I am planning on sending invites 8/1 for 10/5 wedding.

  • I was planning on sending them out at the end of the month (10/26), but I'm rethinking it. I know there are a few addresses we need to get updated, everyone got STDs and I've been keeping them updated when they ask questions (and directing them to the website). Since I'll be moving towards the beginning of August, though, I think I may send them before I move so they don't get misplaced. But if I don't, they will be traveling in my car with me, the cats, the dress, and any other wedding essentials. I haven't really decided yet.

Seems like everyone has great suggestions. I think once we get our final 3 addresses (should be this week) that I am going to just put them in the mail. I'm thinking people know if they are going to the wedding or not, might as well make it easier on myself to get the RSVP's in and done as soon as possible. Hopefully less phone calls to make later. :)

We did send out Save the Date magnets mid May, so lets hope they marked their calendars!
  • Hummmm I was thinking mid August (10/30) but now seeing everyone's responses I'm thinking sooner... Hmmm response is due back by 10/7... So any suggestions would be great; we did do save the dates so hopefully they know they are coming

  • @jenphotochick most of the other replies are from girls who are getting married at the beginning of October, so you should be fine with mid-August. Most of my guests are OOT, and we sent STDs back in Jan, so they should know but I've been getting a lot of questions on the exact date recently, so I'm probably going to send it earlier.
  • @jenphotochick - my date is october 26 and my plan is to send them out the 1st or 2nd week of August with an RSVP date of September 30. So I'm going to reach out to my single guests to see if they have a name they would like me to put on there at the end of July - update those envelopes accordingly and pop them in the mail. (There are a few cousins and friends that I'm not sure if they are in a serious relationship or plan to just bring a non-serious SO).

Don't feel like you are behind :)

  • We're getting married on 10/19 and I'm planning to send our invitations on 8/27 (my day off) for a 9/28 RSVP date.

  • I am getting married October 5th and I am planning on sending them out either the last week in July or first week in August.  I have an RSVP for September 1st because our venue needs our final head count on the 14th so I want to give myself some time to track down the people who didn't send them.  A couple of my BM are coming over to help me stuff them and get the postage on them in a couple weeks so they should be good to go for the end of the month.

  • Oct. 19th wedding.

Mailing early to mid-August for an October 1st RSVP date (venue doesn't need headcount until a few days before).

But then, I sent out STD cards, so I personally feel there's no rush to drop my invites in the mail as everyone at least knows the date; they just need the addresses and times.
  • I'm a bit of a planner, so when TK and and other places have said 2-3 months, I'm leaning on 3 months, so we'll send them out on July 12th.  We have a few international and a few opposite coast, it takes 4 days to get something from NY to Cali, so added cushion is always good in my opinion.
  • I've always heard 4-6 weeks before for sending invitations.

  • Wedding is on October 5, I am sending them out the week of July 29-Aug 2, with an RSVP deadline of September 6.
  • I've always heard/seen 6-8 weeks.

  • We are Oct. 12th and will be sending them out the last week in July.  Our response date is Sept 7th because we need a full head count by Oct. 1 so this gives us plenty of time to get those who never RSVP'd!!

  • We're 10/19 and will probably put the invitations in the mail some time at the beginning to middle of August.  We sent save the dates so I'm not too worried.

  • I'm putting the invites in the mail for our 10/05 tomorrow. Doesn't hurt to be a little early, hopefully this will help avoid so many calls as well get closer.
  • I just finished my invitations.   We're mailing them tomorrow (July 16)  for our wedding on October 16, with an RSPV by September 1.

  • We are October 5th and I send them out the middle of June :)
I have already got about 80% of my responses back and there is only 1 no.
I need to know all of my guests by September 1st so that I can email my venue my seating chart and everyone's meals.  They have to have all that a month in advance so they can order all of our food portions from their vendors.

  • yeah I had no idea they needed everything that early :( I assumed they just needed to know how much of each option that I wanted (veggie or Beef & Chicken) so I put the reply back date as September 1st.  By the middle of August I am going to have to call anyone I haven't heard of and unfortunately bug them because I didn't know I needed the seating chart done too and nee time to figure that all out! :( Thankfully I have most of them back and I have given some of my cousins a heads up through facebook. lol  So it's good and bad but not too big an issue.

I couldn't take it any longer! I just mailed out my invitations today! :)

I did count how many were going out of state and 40% of them are. So they will need to start booking their travel arrangements soon.

I just wanted to scream when I walked out of the post office! I was THAT excited.
