What is your favorite part of planning?

So what has been your favorite part of planning your wedding??

For me it has been choosing my dress, of course, and then the cake! Oh, I love cake so much! LOL

Re: What is your favorite part of planning?

  • Ummm did I stumble back over to snarky brides????  Geez....
  • Lurking on the Knot boards.... lol.  I haven't found planning really that "fun", more just something I have to do.  Spending money like this is very stressful actually.

I am looking forward to the food and cake tasting, and looking for my dress was fun. That's probably about it.

  • This is my second time around and honestly, I'm enjoying all of it. We're having such a laid back wedding, it's basically planning itself. Private ceremony, only a MOH and BM - nothing over-the-top or fussy.
I'm really excited for dress shopping.
  • Trying on dresses and the food tasting were the highlights of the planning process

I liked planning the wedding but it wasn't something that I was super excited about either.  It did give me a good reason to break out my crafting hobby and bust out some cool invites and other DIY things.  I was mainly excited for the day to finally come.  I wanted to marry the man I love and I also really was excited about wearing my dress.

This. Having been through it before, I knew what I enjoyed and what to avoid. I really enjoyed planning something that had a loit of meaning to us as a couple- minus the drama of the large traditional wedding I had the first time around.

Yes! So much less drama! Add being 10 years older and it's just such a different experience. Also, no bridal shower to sit through and no penis themed parties :-P
  • Picking out my dress, picking out the bridesmaids dress with my bridesmaids, and picking out the invitations! Other than that I wasn't a big fan of the planning...
  • Meeting with the mixologist to sample cocktails and mocktails!  Yum!  Ooh and picking out invitations - that was super fun too.  I love stationary.
  • All of it.  I can't pick just one thing, it's all been so much fun.

This.  It's had its ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade it for anything better.  Considering my FH and I have been planning together, it's been a learning experience.

  • I like it when we get to put deposits on the big things like the venue and the photog and meeting with our caterer/coordinator...

  • The food, the food, THE FOOD!!!   We're doing our whole day at a high end restaurant and their food is out of this world.  We've gone up at least once a month since our menu tasting just to eat more and more.
  • Everything!  Well, except the nightmares I was having during the florist consultation process.  Once I chose one, the bad dreams went away!

  • Cake tasting.  I could do that all day long.  And needing a "planning" trip to Hawaii for our DW.  We didn't really need a planning trip, but we took one anyway and it was awesome.  Any excuse to go to Hawaii is fine by me.  :)

  • Having my fiance totally on board with the small wedding idea. We've been able to enjoy our engagement with minimal stress.

Registering has probably been my favorite actually. I love the idea of having my own household to run with my own new things.

  • I don't think there was anything I did not enjoy (except going to a bridal fair--that was a little overwhelming for me, lol).  Dress shopping was the most fun--both my dress and the day we did bridesmaid dress shopping.  And pretty much all the details bringing them to life! My husband and I made the cutest little car escort cards and it was the one thing we both got into together so that was a fun memory.

  • The food. Having our wedding at our favourite restaurant means we (well, I) have even more reason to go back there as often as possible! Designing the stationery has been really fun too, though I'm a little nervous at the thought of DIYing it. Thankfully I have a crafty-mom who will be helping me put everything together once it's all finalised. I haven't really done much else though, 'cause we haven't set a date yet - we just have a range of dates that would suit us and it's going to come down to when FI's uncle is available to do the ceremony. Once I know that, I can plan the rest of my outdoor ceremony and semi-outdoor reception...

  • Mine was flowers. It was my hardest too though. Still is my hardest because I know too much about flowers :/. My florist actually offered me a job since I knew so much about flowers, of course I don't live in the state I'm getting married in or I probably would of accepted the offer lol

  • I've loved most of it (guest list/invite stuff aside) - but I think my favorite thing has definitely been co-writing our ceremony with FI and our officiant.

But what I'm *really* going to miss when it's over is the hours browsing the internet/Pinterest/magazines etc. for little detail inspirations! I'll have so much free time when this is all over!

I also loved the planning process! I loved meeting with the decorator & florist, and planning things to bring our vision together! Basically anything that brought us closer to how the day was going to come together, was awesome! :P

I loved designing our cake for the baker, and deciding on the food & liquor, choosing colours, decor and lighting, etc etc! I loved the DIY too, & having a sense of accomplishment when getting something completed! My husband & I did a lot of the DIY together, which was a lot of fun! It was exciting to work towards the wedding together! :)

After all of the excitement of planning, I definitely thought, post wedding, I would feel this *huge* void in my life! If anything, it was a relief! I look back, and have awesome memories of planning, & it was *definitely* worth it, (even the taxing & stressful moments)! When you marry the man of your dreams, and see all of your hard work come together, it's so worth every second! It's been awesome to just enjoy marriage, and be back to our regular lives & routines! I don't have time to miss the planning, it's on to the 'new!' :)

  • - picking out our menu
    - doing our dessert tasting (it was all chocolate truffles - about 50 types. Yes, I was numb and could hardly move afterwards, but it was sooooo good)
    - writing our own ceremony and vows
    - listening to first dance songs together and choosing "the one"

We did almost all our planning together and I absolutely loved it.

I'm still in a little bit of bridal magazine withdrawal - miss stalking the magazine racks at Target and the bookstore for new magazines!  And playing the "Who can find the worst wedding idea" with H.
  • We've been engaged since March 2012 and are finally getting married in May.

I find with having a longer engagement, things I originally wasn't excited for (flowers, favors, and invitations) are exciting and fun.  I think its more because when I got to finally do wedding stuff I couldn't help but get excited.  It meant that it was getting that much closer.

  • I'm loving thinking up what I can do as DIY and how to go about it.  I don't want a bridal shower, I want a crafting party.  My dress shoppin was painfully simple and only my roommate has seen me in it.
  • another vote for the food tasting
  • My favorite part of planning is having people meet their deadlines with ordering their dresses.  I'm so loving that right now!
  • All of it!!! I am an event manager, and my hotel does a LOT of weddings (The Battle House Renaissance Hotel in Mobile, AL; check it out, Alabama Brides!). I love that instead of carrying out someone else's dream, I get to create my own. I ususally do very formal weddings at work, and mine is more fun and creative since my wedding is going to be outside. I also got a lot of the big-ticket items out of the way early, which has given me more time to work on the fun, creative stuff like decorations and entertainment.
