How many days off before wedding?

Re: How many days off before wedding?

  • I am a teacher and I can't leave my students for a whole week. We would be so far behind on curriculum and the subs here are horrible. So I am only taking off the Friday before my Saturday wedding. It is the weekend before Mardi Gras, so we have off that Monday-Wednesday at work, so I will only need to take off the next Thursday and Friday for my honeymoon.

I understand being a teacher. My FI is a teacher, which is why we decided not to have it in May like I always wanted. I also work for a school district (same as FI, but we met in college) but I'm not a teacher. I work in the central office so no issue with getting time off in the summers :).

it is so hot here and I wanted to have an outdoor wedding, so a summer wedding was a no for. I went for the Mardi Gras holidays!

  • I am admittedly blessed in this regard because we are self-employed. FI will be very busy and take off as little as possible, but I will be able to take more time in the last week or so--we will need it with so much out-of-town family coming in.
  • I get ample vacation time and normally don't work fridays, so I am taking the whole week before off. I also travel for work as a consultant, so if I were to work, it would mean I was OOT the week before my wedding.

If I can get my client to give me remote work, I may try and work a few days, but I certainly don't want to be out of town in case something comes up and I need to drop of checks, make last minute decisions, sign for something or anything.

  • Wedding is on a Sat. I will need Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun off. This is for greeting out of town guests and family & bridal party members. I am also asking for Mon off because with seeing everyone off on Sun or even possibly Monday...I would like to recoop before going back to work.

I have 6 days of vacation left so I plan on using those on the days leading up to the wedding, plus my regular 2 days each week off. So I think I'm set. My vacation days reset in May.

Not going on a honeymoon. Might do a mini one in the summer but will wait to go anywhere nice.

  • Wedding was local for me, but all my family traveled. My step dad arrived on wed first so it was an excuse to take off. I was lucky though. I took like 3+ weeks off for our wedding and honeymoon.

  • I took no days off before the wedding - was at work the day before my wedding!  But that was because I was taking three weeks off work for our honeymoon and I wanted to be sure all of my work was caught up before I was out of the office and unreachable.
  • I am taking the day before my wedding and the two days after. My FI has a set scedule and will only need the day of off.

See you sound like me. I have Fridays off in the summer, but still work 40 hours just in 4 days. I was thinking leave Friday and take off Mon-Thurs then the next Mon to drive back on. We're doing our honeymoon the week after since the week of is july 4th.
