  • My instructor made me vault because it helped with my posture and weight placement.. so it wasn't competetive, just a training tool. But it was fun!

  • What video games do you play?  I love playing video games, but I'm not good at them either.

I'm with you on the guacamole.  Maybe it's because I'm allergic to avocados, but the taste is just off-putting to me.

What is the television show you feel guiltiest about watching?

The last console video game I really got into was Assassin's Creed 3. I also like playing the boring games like Harvest Moon. Handheld games are something I'm into right now too, like Pokemon, Monster Hunter and God Eater Burst. I also enjoy watching BF play video games. We call it my "movie time" because I'll just snuggle in and watch like it's a movie while he gets his video game fix. It worked especially well with the Uncharted series.

I feel kind of guilty watching shows like Say Yes to the Dress. I rarely get to watch them now, but over the summer my mom and I would watch them together sometimes. It was nice. I'm also kind of addicted to shows on the Food Network like Chopped, Cutthroat Kitchen, and Restaurant Impossible. Also Kitchen Nightmares.

  • I'm from Alabama, which makes people think that I am a redneck and don't wear shoes.

I really love red pandas and otters. They are just too adorable not to love.

"Ring by Spring" is something that is pretty popular where I'm from. It is where just about everyone becomes engaged/married, or is expected to, by their senior year of college. It's like of like going to college to get an MRS. degree. Girls, especially at my college, almost force their boyfriends to propose by spring semester of senior year (hence "Ring by Spring"). It's very annoying, especially when people assume that because I have a good and relatively lengthy relationship compared to my peers that it means I am going to force him to propose to me by a certain time.
I'd never heard of an MRS degree until my junior year of college when some 5th-year senior accused me of being out for one because I was a scholarship kid. Yeah, no. I tell myself I probably now earn double what that douche does, if he works at all. Anyway, I see red when I see/hear that term. I'm glad you're not into that, OP.

Hello and welcome. You seem like a nice, smart person. Just don't ever mention the guac thing in front of Swazzle again. ;)
  • bubbles053009 - Thanks! I saved up and pre-ordered the new Pokemon game. It helps that I already had a 3DS. I got X and BF got Y. It works out well because we can complete the pokedex by trading with each other. I admit, BF is much more into it than I am. I didn't even realize I couch a shiny Skiddo until BF was going through my pokemon and did a double take. I don't think he's ever going to let me live that one down!

Also, the Food Network is addicting. If I turn it on in the common room in my dorm, my suite mates always end up getting sucked into it. It's kind of hilarious.

leia1979 - Thank you very much! I really appreciate it! And I'm learning that I shouldn't mention that food around here lest I be mauled. :D I'm just happy that everyone seems to like me. After lurking for a year or so it was nerve-wreaking to finally come out of the shadows.

I've only played Assassin's Creed 1.  I'm really not good at that game but I find it really enjoyable.  Yay for Pokemon.  Even though I know every game is essentially the same, I can't help but enjoy playing each one.  I haven't played any of the new ones lately.  I love watching my BF play games.  It is like movie time.

I love Say Yes to the Dress, but I don't watch it much.  Competition food shows are awesome! There's so much creativity in those shows with how they utilize ingredients.

I suck at Assassin's Creed as well but it's so fun to play. I also have a nasty habit of never finishing a game. I always get half way though but never completely finish. I get too distracted by side quests and how I have to explore every corner of the game (per my personality). BF hates it. He can't stand watching me play. I love Pokemon too. It's so much fun catching all the pokemon and training up your team, even if every game is similar. I'm just not as competitive and into it as BF. So while he's already beaten the game, I'm just on the second gym, taking my time.

I am always impressed by the people on the cooking shows. It amazes me how quickly they can come up with and cook a delicious dish. I want to be able to cook like that, but I suck at cooking :/ So I live vicariously though the chefs on TV.

  • It was tons of fun and I liked a lot of the freedom we have on the map.  I'm horrible at side quests.  If I play a game through, I don't do many (if any) sidequests.  I have the bad habit of playing games through as fast as I can.

I can't cook to save my life and I wish I had just one millionth of the talent those people have.
    Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • Side quests are my deal. I can't run straight through a game. I have to do everything or I feel like I'm missing something. It's really bad in games like Skyrim that are basically just a million quests to do.

I'm with you on the can't cook thing. I can bake, sort of. But I'm afraid to cook. I'm afraid I'll mess something up. Eventually I'll get over it. Maybe when it's just BF and me living together and he's the only one who will taste it. Because if it's bad then he'll just cook good food for me :) But I seriously have no idea how people get so good at cooking. It's a talent.

YOU ARE CRAZY.  I saw it in a Martha Stewart picture from a magazine, tried it, and we loved it.  it is like a burst of sweetness to offset the jalapenos.  don't knock it till you try it!

check out all the yummy pomegranate guacs out there!  LINK

ETA:  maybe it's regional/ethnic - we also put mango and pineapple in our guac.  more traditional Mexican guac/salsa/pico is full of fun fruits (at least, where his family is from in Delicias and Oaxaca).
  • I don't like pomegranate... I think it's the texture or something.

  • that makes sense.  the mango is really good in guac, my favorite is when it's not QUITE ripe so it's still a little... crunchy?  I also LOVE LOVE LOVE putting crunchy nectarine in my guac.  OH YES.  pineapple is my least favorite, but H likes it.
  • I have had pineapple in guac before and that ish is delicious!

@cocobellaf I can't get behind the pomegranate seeds either. We just started adding jalapenos to @swazzle's recipe and it's good if you like it spicy

I love this idea! BF and I almost bought some mango for our fish tacos last night but I just couldn't get excited about it. I'll have to try mango or pineapple next time. It sounds yummy!

@FoxandBunny Why all the hate for guacamole? Is it a texture thing? Maybe you just haven't tried truly good guac yet...

  • Hobbies/Activities:
I used to ride horses, but as I got older I didn't have time to competitively ride anymore. I still ride when I visit family that has horses though, and I would love to get back into it. I am in my college's marching band (color guard specifically though I do play tenor sax). I love going to the zoo. Other than that I'm usually studying or hanging out with BF.
I may or may not be stuck in the box, but Hi! We can be friends! GET BACK INTO IT NOW! :) My son and I both ride competitively. Me for 23 years, him for 7 years. He's made it his goal to compete (and win) the Puissance at WIHS.
That's so awesome! I really really want to start back, but I have to wait until a least February before I can. Also, I'm not sure I have the money to do it, plus the money for gas it would cost to drive out to where I used to ride. Maybe I can find a new place or something. I used to ride hunter/jumper, but I was much better at the equitation than I was at the jumping. I really hope your son keeps competing because it's totally worth it, especially if he gets to that high of a level! I assume you both do jumpers?
Heyyy! I rode hunters/jumpers too.. with a little bit of vaulting..except I got engaged and have a wedding to save for and dont ride.. I have been trying to volunteer with a barn tho...
WOO! More horse lovers! Vaulting looks so interesting but I don't think I'm graceful enough. It seems like an awesome skill to have though. I tried to volunteer at a barn too, but there aren't any around that needed my help. I settled on the animal shelter near my college for volunteering.  I was a vaulter from age 7-17.  My body's all fucked up from it, but I miss it.  And last year some asshole broke into my storage area at my apartment and stole all of my ribbons and medals, old uniforms, everything.  I just have one warm up jacket that they dropped on the ground.  I was devastated.

  • lmhollister - It is a texture thing as well as a taste thing. And a look thing. And a smell thing. Nothing about it is appetizing to me. It's not that I hate it with a burning passion, I just prefer not to eat it. And it may be true that I've just had bad guacamole, but I don't know. So until that changes, my stance of not liking it is the same.

Viczaesar - That is horrible! I can't believe someone would do that. Of all the things to steal, they would choose all that horse stuff? And why the ribbons and medals?! That makes no sense at all! That would be so heartbreaking to me if someone came and stole all my horse stuff. I'm so sorry that happened to you.

I haven't tried it in guac but i make a pico with both pineapple and mango andwe have it with chicken or fish tacos and black beans YUUMMM

Welcome @foxandbunny.  Nice to see a new person that isn't nuts and on the defense.  I like that you stood your ground regarding guac and used gifs to do it...although I love guac and am in the "you need to give the good stuff a try" boat.

@leia1979: honest question - why would someone accuse you of being out for an MRS degree if you had scholarships? I had a full scholarship (tuition + room/board), and I was definitely in college for education. I don't see the connection between the two...
Because I was poor (well, middle class) at a school of rich kids. Obviously that's how one snags a rich husband. /s
