This whole thread makes me want to quit my job and hop on a plane.

    AGREED!!!!

I'm trying to plan something for this spring, but it's going nowhere fast.

I would love to go to Belize. He wanted Hawaii. Both are pretty much out of our budget- so I looked at Mexico but it was a headache to find a good, affordable resort. So I think we decided on going to Lake Tahoe- we went for a day trip last summer and loved it, so we figure we can spend about a week there with a trip to Vegas in there somewhere. We'll plan a big trip to Europe or NZ or something for our 1 year anniversary- at this point we're overwhelmed with planning and spending money and want to do something simple.

  • We went to South Africa for our HM. It was my dream trip and I still can't believe we managed to do it.

We spent 4 nights in Cape Town where we took a full day tour of the area (getting to see Seal Island and Boulder Beach where the African Penguins live amongst other things), we went to a cheetah exhibit where we got to pet and spend time with an adult male cheetah, and we did a cage dive with Great White Sharks.

Then we flew to Hoedspruit for 3 nights and went on a safari. We saw all of the Big Five several times. The lions walked right next to our car and I could have reached out and touched them. On our last game drive, we came across a bunch of baby lions feeding on a dead wildebeest. It was the most incredible experience of my life and I recommend it's very chance I get. I hope we can go back at some point in the future.

Loved, loved, LOVED Cape Town! Spent two weeks there for grad school in '07 and can't wait to go back to SA when it can be for pure fun (…and to do safari!).

I think we'll likely just take a couple days to hit the Washington coast (FI really wants to take me to La Push), then will likely do a longer trip next winter.

Both DH and I have talked about safaris and we agree it's not high on our list. However, I would definitely go back to Africa to cage dive. I'm quite envious and hope to do it one day!!!

  • Ireland. Best trip ever.
  • FI and I aren't doing a honeymoon right away because of my work schedule (I work for a monthly publication and we go into production the Monday after the wedding). I could probably manage to do a couple of days, but since we want to go to Ireland, we want to plan for a time when I could get at least a week without missing the bulk of my job function.

  • Our Honeymoon was in Kauai.  We enjoyed it a lot but wished we would have island hopped for Kauai was small and after 3 days we did everything we wanted to do, lol.  But we enjoyed the relaxation and the fact that we were not at home or at work, so we were happy.

Our vacation wish list one day is a Caribbean cruise, an Alaskan Cruise, and we want to go to England and Ireland for sure and most likely throw some other European countries in the mix when we go.
