    Uuuugh.

I had a meeting with my PI yesterday that I'd been dreading for a while. It went better than expected, but mostly as expected. He was very understanding and supportive, since he (obviously) was a grad student once and knows how overwhelming it is. We've agreed that I have an official start time at work now (10am), which honestly was the kick in the pants I needed. Like the first day of a new diet, I managed to get in perfectly on time (10 minutes early), the first day is usually pretty easy!

Of course, I didn't sleep much last night because that would have just been too easy. Amirite?

J went to see his regular doctor today, and they took more x-rays and gave him a new brace. He has an appointment on Monday with an orthopedic specialist. Unfortunately, he won't know until Monday what the x-rays showed, and the specialist might have to order an MRI (which we are not looking forward to paying for). They did tell him that it is VERY good that he came in, so that's a relief.

How is it not Friday, by the way? I'm confused about why it's not Friday already.

  • @Niccirf - Pshh 8 weeks is nothing! My stylist would sigh when I'd call her after 12-14 weeks. But oh man! Enjoy that.

Also, my stomach has been SO loud this morning. It's like "yo, pay attention to me!"

I spent my morning cleaning up the garage, it has warmed up to a pleasant 20 degrees here, so what better time to be in the garage?   I'm excited because I've been wandering around blind for awhile, and I'm finally going to the eye doctor to get more contacts and a new pair of glasses.  The world will be so much safer on the roads!

  • @phira - I was convinced it was Friday until I got in the office today. Straight pissed me off to learn otherwise!

@Ollie08 - I used to be a 4 to 5 weeker (90% white will do that to a girl), but I begrudgingly started bringing the overall color lighter over the past few months so I can hold out longer now. My pocket book thanks me, but heart rate doesn't when I pass by a mirror and am frightened by the white stripe.

  • @Peaseblossom55 - Those vases are GORG! I'm so glad the site was helpful. They have wonderful prices and some fun, unique items too. Your wedding is going to be stunning!
  • I have been stressed to the max the past couple weeks. I won't go into detail, but work has been pushing me to the limit recently. I've been working 10-11 hour days and still can't seem to get it all done. My boss just keeps asking for more and I know he recognizes my work, but his bosses are pressuring him for greater results and I just don't think I can deliver.

Emotions are running super high with H, BIL and MIL right now. I think they're all finally falling apart from FIL's passing. I expected this, but it's not making things any easier. I feel like everyone is just fighting right now...about everything. Small things, big things. Everything is emotional and I don't know how to help.

H and I are going through a rough time because we're both stressed at work and at home. We just need a break. I want to do a getaway weekend and completely take ourselves away from everything for a couple days but I don't think he can manage it with work right now unfortunately. I'm tempted to take him hostage and force a weekend away. Nothing expensive or flashy, just a break from home and all these other responsabilities. I really think we both need it.

A storm is brewing, I see it coming...and I just feel like there's nothing I can do to stop it. Hopefully everyone will just get it all out soon and we can then move forward.

    \outl0\strokewidth0 \strokec2 @ollie08, dude, it's ridiculous.... It's like I have no weekend!!! Spring requires so much traveling.... But the games are quicker, but still!! I adore the kids C plays with- they're awesome little dudes, but maaaaan would it be nice to have my weekends back. I still haven't redone the flower beds!!!}
  • @IrishDreamer - :::sigh::: the life of a parent. It's really great that you guys are so involved though. And before long C will be grown and off on his own and there will be plenty of time for flower beds.

  • Well bf is the wide receiver coach for Cs team. The kids love him. Even if he is a hard ass, because they know when he does say they did a good job, he's sincere.

I video record every game and help out when/where I can. Our crowds aren't very big compared to fall, so I like to cheer the boys on. :)
  • I'm having the period from hell this week, so all I want to do is lay around in bed.

For Lent, I'm focusing on healthy eating and exercising, since my job is much easier when I'm fit, but doesn't allow me the diet for it (pizza and soda 24/7?) or sleep for it (4 hours avg on a summer trip?). Today was day 2 of morning yoga. And H yelled at me last night for eating cookies when, according to MFP, I still had 800 calories to eat. I was so fucking hungry.

    I still am hungry.

H is taking a beating at work this week, mainly with his job search. @brisox81 has been absolutely the best ever. Everyone should give her great internet cheers for her willing and helpful heart!

Now to get dressed since I've got a stupid lunch meeting in an hour.

Suggestions on healthy mexican food options?

@Niccirf I've been thinking my salon is going to laugh me out of the store when I go in on Monday to touch up my highlights. It's been 6 weeks and even though my hair has grown out around 3/4inch ish I thought they would be all "Why are you here?". Glad you think 8 weeks is a long time and 4 to 5 seems more normal. I've never maintained highlights before so I'm still trying to figure out timing, I just know I wanted a touch up next week because my FI and I are taking our engagement photos next weekend.

  • awww @audrewuh!! I heart you so big!! I'm always here to help :)

  • I am just flat out exhausted. I am run down and have been playing a game all week to see how late I can stay in bed and still make it to work on time. I need Friday!!

@Niccirf I cannot find the motivation to work this week. We have been swamped for weeks and I think I have just stopped caring and checked out this week. Le sigh.

@Ollie08 BF and I were in Florida 2 weeks ago and I was truly hoping our flight home would be cancelled! I am done with winter and coats and boots and just want spring already!!

@audrewuh, this is my fav "healthy" mexican. But the healthy depends upon me not adding a zillion calories worth of sour cream. I'm getting better.

I second this recipe. Seriously so NOM

  • @audrewuh - we eat TONS of Mexican/Latino food in our house.

one of H's favorites is Arroz con Pollo, if you'd like that recipe.  we also do a lot of carnitas (tacos, tostadas, salads, etc.).  I have some enchilada and enchilada casserole recipes that he likes, too.  a lot of authentic latino food is actually a meat with sides and drizzled with salsa.  oh!  and I have a white chicken chili recipe that is wonderful, too.  and H actually prefers my latin rice over his mom's (SCORE FOR ME!).  I'm still perfecting the beans... not quite there yet.  or the flautas.  but then, they aren't healthy unless you bake them.  I do know how to do that.  and huevos rancheros!!
  • @audrewuh- I have a recipe for Skinny WW Chicken Fiesta Enchiladas. It's pretty good, I've made it once before and they turned out great! The only thing is that they do have a little bit of cream cheese in them so that is the downside but it gives the WW points along with it in case you decide to have them.

  • @allusive007, I'm sorry things are stressing you at all angles right now. :( You can only do what you can do, and I'm sure your boss recognizes that; hopefully he'll go to bat for you if needed. Crossing my fingers that you get some time to steal your H away for some quality time; I'm sure it would help both of you deal with a crazy time in your lives.
  • All the yum recipes!! I went to a lunch meeting at a mexican food restaurant and had fajitas, minimal sour cream and guac.

@twodimes I've tried that recipe before and totally love it! I need to add it back in.

@cocobellaf H is mexican and loves to eat the food his parents make, but he hates my enchiladas. :( His dad makes MEAN fajitas every Christmas, which is the main reason why I ditch our Christmas Eve services and go spend time at his family's house 3 hours away.
