I'm hopeless at giving dating advice

Why do people always ask me and Fi for dating advice, like we have any clue what dating is like?  I've been in a steady relationship for 11 years.  I'm like a cavewoman in dating terms.  Ask me for relationship advice, sure.  Dating, not so much.  I'm flattered my friends seem to think I know what I'm doing, but I pretty much tripped over the perfect man when I was 15, and I was smart enough to recognize what I had.  No idea how to date.

My sister is texting me from a date right now.  Apparently the guy is nice, but "so short."  She's asking me how she avoids kissing him.  Ummm.... just don't kiss him?  I don't know FFS!

  • LMAO.  I get asked for relationship advice more now. Especially when it comes to relationship issues, friends have always told me about their issues - sometimes it's a bit TMI and I'd rather not know certain things esp when I know both parties. Just the other day, my friend from work was having relationship issues and I bumped into her and she was all "Well you're engaged. What do you think of this?" I'm no relationship guru though ,so I thought it was funny she said that. Like being engaged now makes you an expert on things.

I think most of my friends are settled down so I don't get asked for dating advice. If I do, it's from a guy and he wants a female perspective, and that I can give. I would think I would give good dating advice though, I look at things with a blunt perspective, so that's the advice I would give my friends.

  • I often get asked for dating advice, and I'm always like, 'Uhm....'

I have always been a serial monogamist. I basically spent my twenties going on one date and then being in a relationship. General dating I'm rubbish at.

Relationship advice I'm better at, except the friends who ask me that always follow up by telling me how their situation doesn't apply to the advice I've just given.

In typing that out, I realise I have a lot of friends who will be special snowflake brides. I should work on that.

Ha, I am surrounded by snowflakes. I was telling my friend from work that I wanted to get a wedding binder for myself (I tend to be disorganized, therefore I feel that I need to have a binder in order to keep track of vendors, appts, dates, etc), and she suggested I also get one for my MOH. That way she can have one to plan the bridal shower, bachelorette, etc.

Speaking of my MOH, she was telling a mutual friend of ours that I am the "chillest" bride she knows and I still have not demanded anything. Then she was like "Well TP,  I hope you're prepared, because when you're my MOH I'm gonna be just like Monica (from friends)." I do hope she was joking.

FMIL was saying how she needs to set up and then take down decorations at our engagement party. She then said she will be doing all the set up and take down with my bridal party because "that's what they're there for." Um no. I can help set up for our party, I will not be demanding that our bridal party do anything.

  • I get asked for dating advice all the time and I never know what to say. I'm great at how to get over a break up advice but dating advice alludes me. My cousin has been asking me to give her advice for dating my FBIL. I would really rather not. Lol.
  • I'm pretty good at dating and relationship advice. I have a huge and varied dating history, so I've been through quite a lot of situations!
