@peaseblossom55 That would drive me INSANE if I suddenly found out I was having a shower because someone sent me a shower gift. How could they schedule it without asking you for your availability first? Yay for presents though!!

@cocbellaf are lava stones big? That might work because the cat might not feel comfortable standing on them for bathroom purposes lol. For example, my cat ONLY likes Fresh Step cat litter, anything else, he doesn't like putting his paws in it, I swear he's a diva.

@swazzle I agree! I'm tired of hibernating!!!! Any ideas on what we can do?

@lmhollister, we would have time to paint, but we're thinking that if we can, we'd rather do the asbestos removal/remediation from the open tiles in the basement instead. Maybe just over half the tiles are covered with carpet already, and I don't remember seeing broken tiles - just missing ones. BF and I are pretty handy people, but asbestos removal is beyond what we want to do. It might be nice before we put everything down there to hire someone to remove what's already in place. If we can't, we're pricing out linoleum flooring (not ideal) and stick-down tile to cover what's already there. Not ideal, but way cheaper. We want to finish the basement anyway, and since part of that involves building a wall and extending the shower to a full bathroom, the worst-case scenario is that we mentally add the cost of asbestos removal with a flooring on top of it to the cost of that eventual remodel.

@buddysmom80 - yes, they are good sized. the cat only poops behind the bushes, so I'm going to make sure and put the lava rocks down everywhere, then cover them up in the front and just slightly in the back with mulch. I don't want red lava rocks, I have a dark brown mulch that I like.

@lmhollister, now I'm going to be wondering if any event I go to over the next few weeks is really a shower.... I thought it might be on a certain day.... now thinking back on a conversation with my parents on mother's day celebration but I have had plans for several months to volunteer for a big fundraiser event for the theater I work with and it turns out I'll need to be there earlier than expected. So no idea how any of this will shake out.

Is it bad that the highlight or last night was getting a new cable box so that we could watch baseball in HD? Seriously, just the baseball channels weren't working

FI is working all weekend but I'm playing in a concert so that'll be fun.

Why does everybody have a 3+ day weekend but ME?!

@blue - Holy cow 1 week!!!!

Tonight FI has a consultation appointment for LASIK - I'm hoping he decides to get it, but it's totally up to him. Is it bad I told him his appointment is at 6:00pm instead of the REAL time 6:30 to make sure he leaves work on time and we have time for dinner before the appointment?

Tell him to go for it! Lasik was one of the best decisions I've ever made! It was REALLY simple and quick.

That happened to my MOH! Her grandfather bought her first car because he had a premonition he was going to die soon. It sat in a barn for like two years, he gave it to her freshman year of HS. Her dad would take it out on the road to just blow the dust off of it, but it was like "are you kidding me???"

Her grandfather didn't die until ike two years ago so his premonition was WAYYYY off.

@BreMR - I have met @flygirlmeg IRL, but that's it. I am not in the area as a lot of other knotties. a lot of the girls here know each other from real life. @lmhollister and @southernpeach89 are sisters!!

I am married. my H and I met in college and were great friends for a long time. we dated a little, then broke up. we got back together and a few months later we got engaged. we got married 7/16/2011. we have two pups, no kids. I work as a computer programmer for the federal government but I'm trying to get out of programming and into something else. I also teach music lessons in the evenings. that's my story!

Bella is our black brindle cairn. she is almost 6.
Baxter is our wheaten cairn. we rescued him last year. he is almost 3.

ETA: I started to post on the knot in 2009.

CocoBellaF Thanks for sharing!! I love your puppies! I'm have puppy fever lately, we already have a daughter and she's 6 so she's at the age where I'm thinking "man, I can't start all over right now." So I'm lobbying for a dog!!

@BreMR- The only one I know IRL is my sister, @lmhollister obviously. @lalaurita lives in ATL where we live but we haven't met her yet. There are a few that live in FL that are close by (state wise to us).

H and I got married last November 2013. We were engaged last February 2013 and I joined TK a few months before that in December.

No pups or kids yet but we plan on getting a puppy dog this Summer when we get our house.

@BreMR, I think most of the folks here met on TK and have since become very good friends IRL (correct me if I'm wrong, y'all!). I was lucky enough to meet some of the East Coast NEYers in January and they are awesome!

For my part, I'm not just NEY, but I am single. I joined TK about a year ago when my BF at the time and I had been dating for about five years and were seriously talking about marriage. For various reasons, that relationship ended a few months ago, but I stick around for the frivolity, wisdom, and GIFs.

@BreMR - I didn't know anyone here IRL prior to joining TK. I've been fortunate to meet a lot of Knotties in the (almost) 3 years I've been around, though!

I met my H through friends in June 2007, we moved in together in October of that year. We adopted 2 kitten babies (Bailey who is an asshole and Hailey who is my princess) that same month. We moved twice and then we adopted a puppy (Lucy who is a pitbull that thinks she's a cat) in January 2010. I started posting here in May 2011. H proposed in August 2011 and we got married in May 2013. That's me in a nutshell!
