Friday!!!!!

Well I think half of us are on planes or almost on planes to Texas, details. It is 8 days till the wedding and I'm pumped!!

Today, I'm going to hopefully make stickers for our favor bags and maybe one more batch of cookies. FI gets home at like 3:30 so that's not too bad. No big plans except dinner and baseball tonight (we're taping the day game)

Saturday and Sunday, FI is attempting to get in at least 14 hrs of work. Any more means we can leave early on Wednesday so I won't see him much. Both his coworkers are working overtime this weekend so at least he will have company. His overtime will likely start after the wedding so yay extra money before house buying.

Saturday night, I'm playing in a concert for a retirement community.

Sunday is my besties wedding that I can't go to. So I'll probably be Facebook stalking her.

At some point we should confirm all our stuff fits in my car :) if not we will bring some to Orlando to my sisters car.

What are you up to?
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

Re: Friday!!!!!

  • Yayyyyy for wedding stuff! I can't believe your wedding is so close!!!

Tonight I'm making tacos for dinner, maybe some laundry too.

Saturday I have a wax, then FI and I are going to the outlets, then the jewelers. I'm meeting with my MOH to talk about some stuff. She's been making jokes and comments about my wedding and it's not funny and I just want to see if everything is okay or what's going on. Saturday night we might go to our friend's house to play CAH

Sunday I'm' cleaning Buddy's bedroom and relaxing.

  • @Blue I can't believe it only 8 days away how exciting!  What are you looking forward to the most over the next week?

Tonight I have a show I'm looking forward to it this weekend but I'm sad it's the last weekend.  Saturday we have pre-cana all day hopefully it's a lot more interesting than what we expect it to be. I have closing night on Saturday and a cast party afterwards.  Sunday there are no official plans but we need to go order our wedding bands and I need to do the last steps to get the invites ready to be mailed.  I may try to paint the mailbox too this weekend, we'll see.

  • THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY. This has been a ridiculous week, and even though it went fast, it was just too exhausting.

Today is just errands, grocery shopping, cleaning, that kind of thing. I have a date with a bubble bath and a book tonight. I work both days again this weekend, BUT I'm going to attempt to go to BFF's FI's gig on Saturday night if work isn't too bananas. If I can't make that, I'll at least get to come over to her house on Sunday and hang out with them there.

Tonight is gaming, yet again. I still owe my mom two scarves -- I'd better get on that.

Tomorrow is completely open. We talked about doing something yesterday, now what on earth was it? ... Ah well, can't remember. Must not have been important. Practice piano for sure. I passed my audition and am now in the rotation to play funerals, so I've got to keep up on it. If I get time, opportunity, etc., I'd like to go try out a piano a friend of mine is giving away. He said it needs tuning and one key is broken, but that's not bad for the low low price of free.

Sunday we're trying to get down to my parents' place contingent on my dad's cold. My mom and I are going to block a couple baby blankets and maybe her new scarves depending on whether or not she thinks they need it.

We talked about the house again last night, this time worried about any asbestos in other spots than the floor tiles. We know the attic insulation doesn't have it - that's white and fluffy. The basement sheetrock doesn't have it - the remodel down there is really recent. The only spot possible is upstairs, and we figure there's a decent chance that that's been replaced already (I really don't want to go into how we know that, but trust me. There's a really good chance.). Plus, how often do you really cut into sheetrock? We're calling city hall this morning to check on the remodel permits filed on this place, but right now we're moving forward with the purchase.
  • @Blue- 8 days!!!!

Tonight I may go to CrossFit if I have time and afterwards H and I will probably get dinner somewhere and head over to SC.

Tomorrow morning we will go set up Camp and make everything look ready before our friends arrive. We will probably spend the day drinking and playing yard games. H is doing a crawfish boil so I'm excited about that! The lake will probably be too cold to go swimming but I'm bringing my bathing suit just in case.

Sunday morning we will clean up camp and head back home for @lmhollister's FI's bday celebration. My family has this ongoing tradition to find bday cards that have anything to do with farts or poop so I found the perfect one for this occasion. I'm excited to reveal this!
  • I am in beast mode at work today.  Run allllll the western blots!!

This weekend will be pretty low-key.  DH and I are going to binge-watch Game of Thrones before Watchathon week is over.  Other than that, just laundry, cleaning, and groceries.  This week has dragged on forever since I had a lot to get done after coming back from a conference.  Two chapters of my dissertation are due to my boss today and I am so ready to hand them off and kick back.
  • @buddysmom80 weird about your MOH but I think you're doing the right thing by seeing if anything is up in her life. Its amazing how much lives just continue while we are planning weddings. I have 3 people who I literally can't ask if they're coming to our wedding - they all said yes but one was just widowed and another is hospitalized in the psych ward so he and his mom might not be able to come. I just want him to be ok.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @blue she does have a lot going on in her life, so that's why I'm not all chatty Cathy with her about wedding stuff. That's why I'm so confused as to why she's doing this. Like, maybe because her life sucks, she wants to bring me down as well? I usually talk to her about her issues just so she has someone to vent to, so it's like after having a sad converstion about her life at home, I never wanted to be like "so, should I have a band or DJ?"

I'm sorry about your friends, I hope everyone is okay.

  • @peaseblossom55 I'm really looking forward to hanging out with my amaaazing family and friends haha. Probably the most relief will be after we get the marriage license on Thursday (when we get it is contingent on when we finish our drive to Virginia so it's the only thing still kinda in the air and it's very important!!

@sakalicious I always kinda liked western days because it gave me time to chill and catch up on some of the finer points of my lab paperwork. How about you? I'm excited you're almost done though!!

@keptinstitches asbestos is kinda scary. Have you hired an independent inspector? They should be able to tell you what you're dealing with potentially

    HAPPY FRIDAY!

This week actually went by kinda fast.  I was surprised. Last night we went to see the new Captain America movie...it was amazing. Anyone else planning on seeing it? FI is a huge Marvel/DC fan :)

Tonight we are going over to a friends house for a get together, then afterwards we are heading to a karaoke bar.

Saturday afternoon are our engagement photos! Originally, we had planned on getting them done at a local pub and park, but when we visited the park we realized there just wasn't a pretty place to get pics done with, especially since the weather just now decided to kinda act like Spring (mid 50's so far), so the park isn't very pretty.  We are getting them done at a local covered bridge which is where we had planned on getting married at before we chose an indoor venue. I'm really excited. I'm not sure what, if anything, we have planned for Saturday night but I have some WR stuff I'd like to start.

Sunday is the first Sunday in awhile that FI doesn't have to play in the worship band so we are sleeping in and not attending church. Is it sad that I get so excited about sleeping all day?? :)

  • @blue, we'll move forward with an independent inspector for the basement for sure. The upstairs will be contingent on what we learn from city hall.
  • This has been a very long week. Plans for this weekend are a little up in the air right now because football schedule got pushed back because they didn't play the games last week because of rain... Wussies.

Cs mom is looking at a freezer for us today in st Pete, so hopefully we can get that picked up this weekend, which would mean then that we can go get a membership at Costco! Yes, it's sad that this fact makes me excited. No, I'm not sorry lol.

Other than that- I want to do a deep clean on the house. So much dog hair everywhere no matter how much I sweep and or vacuum.

Laundry on Sunday- but now no more walking dead, and that makes me sad panda.

  • 8 days?!! That's so close & exciting!! Are you taking off work before the wedding? My friend did that just to get all the last minute details done and of course to just relax a bit :)

I have to spend all afternoon at a criminal sentencing hearing (not mine--law student here!) I'm not really looking forward to it since I really feel for our client, but I don't think he's got a great chance. Definitely sucks.

On a bright side though, BF found out yesterday that he's been chosen for a promotion at work! He's only worked there about 8 months (since we moved) but he really likes it and has been really invested. It's a sustainable energy company and he's passionate about green technology, so it's been a good fit. The promotion will be effective starting Monday so I told him he can pick where ever he wants to go tonight to celebrate! So I'm excited to get out and do something fun to celebrate!

  • Blue, I hated westerns for the longest time because I had a lot of problems with the protein lysates.  They were too acidic to be accurately quantified and I had to develop a whole new protocol and ugh.  Now, I am much more relaxed about them haha and they are the last set of experiments I need (time course) for my dissertation.  I am so ready to be done and I can't wait for all the graduation fun next month.
  • WOOO weekend!! I'm not sure what I'm excited about since I'm working tonight & most of the day tomorrow, but that's okay :)

Sunday BF & I are going to Boston for my birthday present. We're meeting up with his brother & SIL for lunch, and then we're going to see Pentatonix at House of Blues Boston. I'm SOOOO excited.

If you don't know who Pentatonix are - they won The Sing Off a couple years ago, and are pretty much the most amazing a capella group alive. This shows off their talent the best, I think: LINK

    @Blue 6 more days!!!!!!!

Guys, I feel like 50 million times better today. Yesterday afternoon was rough and I took a little advil before going to bed and today I feel much much much more normal. I feel...bloated I guess but that could also just be my period. Or the entire chocolate bar I nommed yesterday as a special treat.

I've already had a busy morning. I ran Cinders to the vet because she's been digging at her ear all week. We had looked at it before but it was only a little dirty looking but last night it was super waxy and scabby so I took her in this morning. As it turns out she has a yeast infection. Poor pup. The vet also said we could start feeding her more food...about a half cup more per day. She's a little on the thin side but he said that's not a bad thing.

Tonight I'm taking FI out for dinner for his birthday and then we're going to a local brewery for a "tour"...aka...drink all the beer! Or at least he gets to drink all the beer...I'm driving so I can only have a tiny bit. I'm not sure what the plan is exactly for tomorrow. FI and my dad were supposed to go golfing but the weather looks nasty today and ain't nobody got time to golf in the mud. My mom and I are probably going to go to the outlet malls tomorrow and I think early tomorrow morning I'm going to go for a run with my running group. Hopefully it doesn't cause the onset of more cramping but I think I'm good now.

Sunday is my family's celebration of FI's birthday. It's supposed to be gross outside so we're cooking spaghetti and playing pool in the basement. We also bought a new game called Telepictionary or something like that. Most hysterical game ever! It's basically a blend of telephone and pictionary and I can't wait to play it with @southernpeach89!

Our save the date cards are supposed to arrive today too! So going forward I'm going to be super busy addressing them all and getting them in the mail. We're nearly at the exactly 6 months to go mark which I know is borderline for STDs but we have so many out of town guests that I don't feel comfortable not sending them out. Plus the picture I chose for them is super pretty!

  • So my parents were so supposed to come see my show tonight, my dad is coming but my mom can't come.  I'm real upset she missed my last show too, because she had to babysit my niece.  So beyond frustrated and upset.... /end rant

  • Woohoo--Friday!

Tonight we'll prep for tomorrow. H and I are celebrating his bday with some friends (@cu97tiger!!!) and family. We'll be going to a couple of local breweries and then H and his bros want to home brew their next batch of beer at my house. We'll also do the cake and presents thing with his family. I haven't gotten all of his gifts delivered yet. His actual bday isn't til next week and we'll celebrate one on one then.

Sunday I hope to sleep and sit on my big fat butt a lot.

  • EEEK!!!!! 8 days?! That's awesome! How exciting!

We have a full weekend ahead. I'm already counting down to NEXT weekend!

Tonight we're getting prepped and ready to go to DD1's soccer game. She is not a morning person at all, and we have to leave the house at 6:45am to get there in time. We are thinking of going blueberry picking afterward since there's a great farm not too far from the field we're going to.

Sunday we have a family photoshoot in the morning that Q is helping me with, and then DD1 has another soccer game in the afternoon.

At some point we're supposed to visit my family who are in FL at The Villages. It just sucks because there are games both days, and it's difficult to coordinate it, but we'll fit it in somewhere.

I hope all of the ladies going to the NEYTXG2G have a blast! I wish I could be there. Please drink copious amounts of wine for me!

    EIGHT FRICKIN DAYS BLUE.

@blue @sakalicious I still hate Westerns. When I'm running my gels, I'm usually prepping for next steps when I have downtime, so it's stressful. We also are all terrible about communicating when reagents run out, or when Western stuff is being used by someone else. Bleh.

My weekend should be okay. Tonight, my grad school cohort is meeting up for the first time in almost a year. One of our classmates left after 1 year, so we don't see her often. We're going to get drinks and snacks at a local cantina, which hopefully will not be too crowded because OPENING DAY!!!!

Tomorrow, getting my hair cut, which also means trying to get The Body Shop to let me exchange the foundation I bought that's the wrong color, and then hitting up Trader Joe's. My friend is having a birthday party across town, but I'm not sure if we're doing dinner with J's parents tomorrow night or not. If we're not, I'll go home after my hair cut and relax before heading up there in the evening. If we are, I'm going to head over early to hang out with her and help her set up before getting picked up and going to dinner.

Sunday, J and I are going to clean, do laundry, and plan meals for the following week. Gonna try something in the new SLOW COOKER OMGGGGG.

  • Hello Ladies

    Work has been busy :-(

Tonight - I guess I'm going to an arena football game.  I really don't want to go but FI does so much for me and wants me to go.

Tomorrow - Nothing is planned, just the way I like it

Sunday - We have tickets for Flashdance.

  • @severmilli12 I hope you have so much fun at your engagement photos!! :)

@mbross3 I don't work a "typical" job, lol.  I'm teaching an online course at the community college up in Virginia this semester (actually, FOUR online classes..details).  I'm also subbing down here, so I took off subbing this week and next week (we leave next Wednesday) and will continue teaching throughout the wedding/road trip home (I just have two hours of office hours I have to show up to - then maybe a day or two of grading.  Not ideal, but since we're not officially honeymooning till later in the year, it's okay.

@BriSox81 THERE'S STILL HOPE FOR THE PENTATONIX PONY!!!!  But really, seeing Pentatonix is amazing as hell.  I'm really jealous, haha, pony or not :)

@ollie08 ummmm is blueberry picking near me?  Oh..and like..will the blueberries still be good like...April 26th or so?  Or should I just wait till next year?

Also, I'm currently watching Grey's from last night (who watches Grey's anymore) and it's really grossing me out.  I keep closing my eyes, lol.  Why I am so attached to this show that is torturing me is beyond me.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • Doing the same thing as @TwoDimes, copy and pasting from Chit Chat because I am lazy and thought I was on the NEY board to begin with.

This week needs to be over immediately. I've been feeling sick all week and could barely drag myself out of bed today. It doesn't help that there's a committee meeting in our office today and they are SO noisy! I may go home at lunch.

Tonight BF and I plan to order in and watch a movie or 24 or something and I will probably fall asleep at 9 lol

Tomorrow morning he has hockey and I have cleaning and errands and stuff to do at my apartment. Tomorrow night we're seeing Captain America (!!!) with friends, and I might just make chicken pot pie for him and his parents; his mom seemed very intrigued with my recipe and BF looooves it. Sunday is church x2 and probably lunch with BF's family in between. It might actually be nice here on Sunday so hopefully we can go out for a bit too.

@Blue & White I still watch Grey's too, but I am way behind...I don't think I picked it up again after Christmas and need to get caught up before the end of the season.

  • @Blue - Idk of any by you (but there might be some!) There are two places here that are doing U Pick.

This one is starting April 12 and they usually go through most of May. It's in Windermere.

This is the one we're doing on Saturday in Mt. Dora. And I just realized they're still doing strawberries, not blueberries!

  • The asbestos guy called us back. He said we shouldn't really worry about the sheet rock upstairs unless we plan to take out whole walls (hahahahahahaha ... nope). The asbestos was in the old mudding compound, not in the sheet rock itself up here. The basement tile is still a problem potentially, but we knew that already. He can do the testing for a very reasonable price, and removal is reasonable as well for the tile. We're still waiting to hear back from city hall - they're pulling the remodeling records on the place. Cross your fingers that we get good news!

    @blue - 8 days!!

@mbross3 - Congrats to your BF on the promotion!

  • @keptinstitches sounds like things are looking up with the house!  good luck with everything!
