@Ollie08 Your girls are adorable! Your pics remind me of when my sisters and I used to go strawberry picking. We always picked A TON. I love strawberries though so it's ok. Hope you find lots of yummy things to do with all those strawberries!

  • @BriSox81, yay for sparklepony soon! Penguins are awesome - I'm jealous of your trip to the aquarium.
  • @BriSox81 yay penguins. I love penguins I wish I could have one as a pet....

  • Oh I just have to add another thing that happened this weekend. My cat has his own bedroom because my dog likes to eat cat poop. We converted a guest bedroom into a cat room with a litter box, food and water and a futon. The litter dust gets on the floors and usually every six months I'll deep-clean the room.

I clean the whole room Saturday, even put shine stuff on the floor. Guess who decides to have a bad bout of diarrhea and shit everywhere in his room? My cat. I felt so bad for the poor guy, I gave him a whole can of food when he usually gets half and I think it messed with his stomach. So I got to clean his room TWICE this weekend. Orange cats = evil!

  • @Buddysmom80 - I think a lot of dogs eat cat poo. Groses me out. Actually, Remi used to. I purchased a small pet door and installed it in the laundry room so the cat could access her litter and food...but the dog couldn't. It's worked great for us because she's a big fat whiner if she doesn't have full access to everywhere in the house.
  • @allusive007 we have a baby gate up so that the cat can jump from his room to the rest of the house. His favorite thing to do at 2AM is to meow, jump over the gate, meow again and jump the gate for like 15 minutes. It's loud.

  • @Buddysmom80 - Why do cats whine so much? I've never had such a whiner until I got Kiki (she's a tabby). I swear, she will wander the halls 30 minutes-1 hour before my alarm goes off just meowing. She has food, her litter is clean, she's not shut in a room...I don't get it. I love my cat, but when she wakes me up BEFORE my alarm goes off I want to punt her across the condo. GAHHHH!
  • @allusive007 at my old apartment I would keep the window open at night and I don't know if my cat heard the barn cats down the road or whatever but he would be whining at all hours of the night! He hasn't done it here (yet). He's a chatty cat, but it's like "why must you do your exercises at 2am?"

  • @buddysmom80, @allusive007 - I commiserate on whiny cats. Princess Eleanor has decided that she's too good to only eat kibble in the evenings (she gets one meal a day for weight control) and she must have wet food as well. She whines for a minimum of three hours before dinner time (she knows when dinner is), she whines after dinner if I don't go to bed immediately (don't I know that's her time to pounce my feet?), she whines if she doesn't get morning snuggles ...
  • @buddysmom 80, @allusive007, & @keptinstiches - Brady is also a huge whiner. He's SOOO obnoxious sometimes.

Violet is also a poop eater (not just cat poop, but other dog poop, and her own too, if she gets the chance, VOM), so we have a gate that blocks off my bathroom - but it has a little door in the bottom, so Brady can get through, but Violet can't. Maybe look at getting one of those, @buddysmom80, so he doesn't have to jump? It was fairly inexpensive at PetSmart.

  • @brisox81 you know if I bought one of those gates like you have, Buddy would STILL jump! Just because he's an ass!

  • @buddysmom80 - Brady is getting close to not fitting through the hole, so he may resort to jumping too. haha. I bought him weight loss food, and he's not very happy with me - hence the incessant HOWLING.

  • @BriSox81, oh gawd the weight loss food is the worst ... I think I'll be able to up Ellie's portions once we move into the house. The apartment is just so small she can't run decently.

  • @allusive007 @buddysmom80 @KeptInStitches @BriSox81 Gambit knows when it's time for food and heaven forbid I am 3 minutes late; he'll whine as if he hasn't been fed in weeks! He'll actually jump between me and the computer screen if I'm doing something instead of feed him at night. He is the most obnoxious little beast but damn he's cute.

Do you know how many times I almost broke my face climbing over that thing in one night?  My legs are ridiculously short.  You should call it the Sak-gate.
  • Each of our cats whines for a different reason.  It can be annoying the worst is when they all cry and whine and I am prepping their wet food to feed them in the mornings.

They also like to stare out the back window and wine and cry too.  I think it's because they may see other animals. The worst is the whining right befor the alarm goes off

  • CAT TALK - since I'm too lazy to list everybody out.  My cat walks around from 12(midnight) - 6am 'signing me the song of his people' - it's a HORRIBLE song.  I don't know why he does it, the only thing I can think of is he no longer has as much fear of the dogs.

As far as where the cats can go and the dogs cannot - on the first floor of my house I have saloon-style doors (or cafe doors >>like these<<) that I added a latch to, so the cats can get under but dogs cannot.  Then to my basement I put in a cat door - so the kitchen the dogs are allowed in there if I'm in there, and it's kind of a neutral zone (the dogs know it's the cat's area and they will be the ones booted if they act up.

I like having a bird. The other night, he was up late with me while J was trying to sleep. We'd been out all day and night so we both wanted to give him a chance to play before he went to bed. Of course, birdo gets all screamy because he wants attention. I keep trying to quiet him down so I don't have to put him to bed, and he pauses and goes, "I'm a GOOD BOY." Then, back to screaming.

  • @keptInStitches - THESE are the actual doors I have, the other ones are just because I found a picture of the doors hanging in a kitchen - in my years of dog ownership these have raised in price $50!!  The dogs have broken them a couple of times, but nothing that couldn't be glued back together with minimal show.

Uh, well, you should have crawled through the cat hole. You're little enough.

  • @BriSox81 you guys would've woken up to my ass stuck in the cat hole and had to pull me out.  Next time.
  • My BF gives me praise for the time my dog (who is the same size as the cat, so those lovely gates with cat doors are pointless) woke us up by puking up a big pile of cat shit under the bed ( where the dog goes when she has to puke, which sucks to get at to clean up). He had to leave the room while I cleaned it up. He says this is what made him decide I will be a good mother.
