How much time did you take off?

Re: How much time did you take off?

  • We're getting married on a Friday morning. I'll definitely take the Thursday, and possibly the Wednesday (assuming I've found another job by then!). We can't afford to honeymoon this year, so we're going to do a weekend mini-moon. So that'll be at least 2 days off, possibly up to 5 (if I'm working retail).

  • Our wedding is December 12th (Friday). We're taking December 11th-19th off. The day before we have to bring the fur children to their bed and breakfast resorts and they are on the other side of the state from each other. Also I wanted that day off too if we decide to do a rehearsal. The rest of the time we'll be in Jamaica for our honeymoon.

  • I took a half day on Thursday and a full day on Friday.  Then a full week after.

I am glad that I took the time off that I did.  We had some OOT guests that came in Thursday evening and Friday morning so I had a chance to see them.  Also, Friday, my Mom and I spent most of the day together getting a mani/pedi, doing last minute wedding things and then of course we had the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.

Needless to say the half day at work on Thursday was a killer.  I was so excited and all I wanted to do was get the hell out of there!

  • Mywedding is Saturday, December 27. With my job, I already have December 24-26 off for the holidays. I will then take December 29-January 2. So total I will have 12 days off but because of weekends and the holidays I will only have to use 4 vacation days. I may end up taking December 22 and 23 as well but that depends on where I am at with my New Year's Eve event I have to plan before the wedding.

  • I will be taking two days before the wedding and two weeks after for the honeymoon.  It's the longest I've ever taken off of work and I'm so excited for it!!!

I was married on a Friday, so I took off Thursday, Friday, and Monday (hubby took off Fri and Mon). It was definitely enough time to wrap up a couple last minute things and to enjoy a post-wedding breather.
We delayed our honeymoon two months, at that time we took off an additional week and a half.
  • I'm going to take off the day before the wedding and then 7-10 days for the honeymoon.
  • Good to hear that many of you took off a few days before the wedding. That's what I was thinking of doing but wasn't sure. Even if I'm organized and ready to go and don't really need the extra day or two, I can agree with some of you that I would be worthless at work anyway!

  • Getting married on a Saturday afternoon... took Thu-Fri before off to finish up centerpieces/nails/rehearsal/etc. Then we'll be on our honeymoon Sunday through the following Monday (Spain, squeeee!), plus Tuesday off to recover from the jet lag/finish up thank you cards. So a total of 9 business days/13 calendar days (blissfully) away from my office.

  • FI and I are getting hitched on October 18th. We are taking the 15th-22nd off. I can't wait!

  • I took off 2 days before the wedding, and 2 weeks after.  Our honeymoon was 10 days so it was nice to have a few extra days to recoup before going back to work.
  • My family is driving up from Texas the weekend before the wedding (August 2nd) so I will be taking off 2 full weeks from 7/29-811
  • We kind of lucked out and were smart with our vacation time last year. We start our vacation time on 9/27 (Saturday) and we have the entire week off until we get married on 10/5 (Sunday). We are then going on our honeymoon and don't go back to work until 10/20. So its a little over 3 weeks for us.
