@grumbledore I'm in the same boat. Once FI and I had come up with a guest list that fit our budget we started venue shopping. We found a venue that fit our numbers and our budget within a few weeks and from there everything was ridiculously easy. We had all of our major vendors booked by March and now I just have small things to really worry about...and even then I really just don't need to even start caring or thinking about them until July/August when it's closer to the time for us to mail invitations.

The B-List I just don't get. Come up with all the people you want to invite within reason and base everything in your budget around that. There's no excuse for "Oh, my venue can only hold 150 people but I have 200 people I want there so I'm sending out more invites as I get declines". Why didn't you just find a larger venue in the first place? You don't have to have the fanciest venue in town or gourmet food if the really important thing to you is to have as many of your loved ones there as possible. If your priority is to have a wedding in a super-expensive location because that's been your dream since you were five that's fine...just own that decision and live with the consequences. Don't make it the excuse for why you have to b-list.

That's how we did it. . . it just seemed like it was common sense.

  • I honestly don't mind the PPD aspect of it as long as I knew beforehand. If it was local or not that far for me to travel, I would go but if I had to travel out of town, pay for a hotel, and you aren't family, I am staying home. But if I found out I was B listed just because you needed to fill a quota, I would be hurt and rethink our relationship.

Why was this user banned? And why are her posts still showing up?

Hmm, that's odd.  I don't think I have ever seen her post anything outrageous.

very strange.  I was even going to post that I really liked her WP pictures.  I'm not even not a huge fan of jeans and cowboy boots at weddings, I think it worked really well.

  • I swear to sweet baby Jesus, people are so out of control when it comes to weddings.

I am getting married in a little over 6 months.  We are more or less DONE planning.  Our guest list was made, budget was set, venues booked, caterer booked, dj booked, bar planned for, dress and suit purchased within weeks.  This just isn't as hard as people make it out to be.

And if it is, you're doing it wrong and getting hung up on things that just don't matter.

    It's one day.

Think about how fast today will be over.  Your wedding day is no different for almost everyone else on the planet.
Our guest list grew after we had our venue booked. I thought we had our guest list set, but we forgot about people. But we also left wiggle room in our venue and budget for more people. We planned for it. We didn't pick the venue first. We had all of our vendors booked a year out as well. But that doesn't mean I'm still not stressed :P The little stuff (we're about 3 months out now) seems almost worse haha.

It could be like that time I got banned 3 times in two weeks. Because my IP address happened to be the same as a spammer (even though I was on different devices and different wifi each time).
  • I have no clue why I was banned it happened overnight. Fun Fun.

lyndausvi I loved how everything turned out at my wedding. It was nice that everyone already owned the boots and the guys normally dress in boots and jeans. I think maybe a couple of my BMs bought new boots, but only because they wanted the excuse to. LOL

I'm from the  DE/PA boarder area.  Cowboy boots are pretty unheard of in my social group.  Then I moved to the islands.  So again, no cowboy boots.  I kept going to TX and started itching for a some boots.

T-day a year and half ago while in TX DH bought me a pair of Old Gringos.  Life changing.    I LOVE those boots. Wear them all the time.   NYC, Indy, Philly, I don't care.  They are so comfortable.  Everywhere I go, including here in Aspen I get compliments on my boots every time I wear them.

Okay, that is the end of my completely unrelated to the topic love of my cowboy boots.

  • Hahah @grumbledore I was just coming here to ask which one of you is her! Also why do 80% of the people posting over there sound like they didn't pass the 10th grade?

Hahahaha how true.  You are definitely asking the wrong person - I got banned after a few days and all I did "wrong" was give honest answers about what is and is not proper wedding etiquette.  Nary a name was called, but apparently annoying a few snowflakes was enough.
