How many weddings have ya'll been to?

Hey knotties,

I'm 25 and I've been to two weddings. I always thought that was normal, but now I'm seeing that it's 'RSVP season' and I'm wondering, how many weddings have you each been to? And as of right now, how many weddings will you be attending this coming season? Hope all is well!

Re: How many weddings have ya'll been to?

  • I'm 23 and I've been to 6 weddings. I've been invited to more than that but I couldn't attend all of them due to schedule and budget issues.

This summer there will probably only be one wedding that I will be attending.

  • Too many to count - I've been a BM countless times as well.
Both me and FH have big families so that bumps up numbers
  • I have been to a lot of weddings, I have lost count. Last year alone we had 6 weddings including our own and I stood up in 4 of them.

18 that I can think of off the top of my head. 5 in the next 5 months including my own. I've declined 4. I'm 30.

  • I'm 24 and have attended 6.

  • I've been to 11 weddings (plus my own) and I'm 28. I have one on Thursday and another in December.

  • I'm 35 and have been to a dozen or so. I've only stood up in one- my sister's.

    Too many LOL!

I am 29 and I have been to about 20, including mine.

    Out of those 20 I have been a BM/MOH in 3.

ETA:  That these 20 weddings occurred in 8 years.  I went to my first wedding when I was 21 and that was my sisters.

  • I'm 29 and have been to maybe 5 (including one when I was 4 and one at 15). I seem to have avoided the dreaded Wedding Season, where a whole slew of people get married at once.
  • I'm 23 and I have been to about 7. I was a BM in my brother and SIL's wedding and stood with the guest book at another. I have at least 4 in the next 8 months though (not incuding my own) and I'm in 2 of those.

  • Wow, people have been to a lot! I didn't go to my first one until I was 20 years old and I had a terrible time. It was my ex's sister so my ex was in the wedding party and they had a head table so I sat with strangers at a 300 person wedding and it gave me a shitty first impression of weddings!!

I have only been to about 6 more (I'm 29 now) and they were all friends of ex's or ex-coworkers, where again I didn't really know anyone. All my friends kept saying how fun weddings were, and I was like "why am I not having fun at any of these?". I never had a best friend or close friend or cousin get married so that's why. My brother's wedding last year was the first one where I actually knew the entire guest list and it was really fun.

Even though I'm almost 30 most of my friends are still not married. Had one last year, one this year, and one next year, that's it.

no idea.    By the time I was 18 I had been to at least 12.  I have a lot older cousins.  They when I got to my mid-to-lates 20's i was averaging 4 a year.  One year  I had 8.  Then by my mid-thrities it's slowed down to about 1 a year.  Some years more, some less.

ETA - I also worked for a resort that averaged 100 weddings a year. Actually 2 resorts.  Then another city hotel which had weddings every weekend.   So I've witnessed a ton more.    Oh and my DH is a chef and as cooked for countless wedding.

A little secret, guests obsoletely complain about poorly hosted events. Never to the couples faces, but yeah I heard plenty of complaining from guests as a staff member.    Luckily it wasn't often as our couple hosted their guest pretty well.  But I've seen some clusterfuck weddings were as a staff member I was felt bad for the guests.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I am 29, and I think around 20? All friends, I've never been to a family one yet. I have 4 this year, including mine! :) Last year I think I had 8

  • I'm 27 and I've only been to 4 weddings. I don't have any coming up this year except for my own!
  • I'm 26 and have been to about 12 weddings. I don't have any this season, though.
  • I'm 27 and I've been to 5. One was only a reception (they had a DW we couldn't make it to so they had a reception back home as well). Plus I catered one for work. One was my sister's, one was my friend's, the rest have been FI's friends.

  • I'm 27 and have been to 5 as an adult. I was in my aunt and uncle's wedding when I was 3, but that hardly counts! So far I only have 1 to attend this summer.

I have so far avoided a jam packed wedding season, but that being said there are 3 girls in my group of friends who are in serious relationships. It's entirely possible that I could have a year full of weddings coming up soon...

  •  I'm 26, and including my own wedding, I think I've been to 9 or 10. Unfortunately, I've been invited to more, that I was unable to attend. I do *love* them though! :)

I'm 26 and I've been to 12, the first of which was when I was about 22--not including family weddings, most of which were when I was in high school and younger (I've been to 5 of those). I've only ever RSVP'd no to one wedding, and that was because I would be on a family vacation that had already been booked.

This year, we will be attending 5 weddings, not including our own (we have one pretty much every month starting in May). We also just found out another close friend and another family member got engaged, so we'll most likely be invited to those too.

ETA: Of all those weddings I've been to, I think 5 of them were in the same summer, and some of them were back to back--as in 2 weekends in a row, we were out of town at weddings. That was a bit exhausting, and expensive.
  • I'm 22 and been to only one wedding in my life, so I know nothing with weddings until I came here.

  • I'm 30 and have been to 3 (1 when I was 5).

Only a handful of my friends are married (I've been to 1!) A couple people that I know are getting married (1 already got!) this year, but I don't think I'll be invited.
  • H and I are super excited because 2014 (so far) is the first year in 8 years that we don't have a wedding to attend.  And we don't anticipate any popping up in the near future.

  • ??? I have absolutely no idea. I'm 36 and have a hard time remembering what I did last weekend, let alone 10 years ago. If I had to guess, I'd say around 20. Have one next month that's sure to be a shit show, but that should be it for the year.

  • I'm 30 and have been to over 30 weddings, including one year where I went to 6 weddings, I was invited to 8 that year but had 3 on the same day. I have been BM/MOH in 6 and was a reader in 1. This year I have 4 weddings including my own.

I have been invited to over 40 but haven't been able to attend all them due to conflicts. The weddings I've been invited to and/or attended have been a mix of friends and family pretty evenly. This year the weddings we have been invited to are my FH's family.

  • I'm 32 and I've been 6 weddings.  My friends don't like to get married apparently.

I'm 26 and have attended 6 weddings (4 as an adult). 2 were my family and 2 were fiancé's family. I think I'm starting to catch the wedding season bug; we were invited to 3 weddings in 3 months this year. We attended the one earlier this month and will attend the one in June (to which we had to RSVP by 3/15 so don't get me started on that one). We had to decline the one in May.
  •  Including my own, I can count 16 that I've been to (I'm 22).

I worked for a catering company for awhile, so I got to see oodles of receptions (the good, the bad, and the ugly. And there was a plethora of ugly....).

  • I'm 28 and I've probably been to about 20 or so. But that counts growing up going to family weddings because my dad's family is gigantic. Last year, FI and I were invited to 7 weddings, which was the most I've ever gone to in one year. It was an expensive summer! This year we will go to 3 weddings (counting our own!)

  • I'm 27 and I've been to about 18 weddings. I have a huge family so most of them have been the weddings of relatives,

Wait, does that mean you're not coming to mine?! (Kidding, kidding!)

I've been to... dozens. I've been going to weddings since I was a kid. Traditionally, Chinese wedding invitations are issued to entire families and everyone is expected to go. I was always the little kid who got dragged up with the DJ/band to sing and dance for the older aunties and uncles, which would have been super uncomfortable if they weren't also handing me red envelopes with money (an offering of good luck in our culture). As an adult, I've been to... maybe 10 or 15? I can't keep track anymore.
