Re: Stamps on RSVP envelopes -- we messed up :o

  • I personally would have to go to the post office and spend .49 on a stamp in order to return it to you so I would try the freezer thing.. I never have stamps around because I barely mail anything that's not a package that I just bring to the post office and pay with a card.
  • i second the person who said give stamps out as favors. your guests would appreciate the humor. unless they're the most uptight people ever. in which case try the freezer thing.

Honest question: why do people think including stamps is an issue in the first place?
RSVP cards, according to forum regs, are a fairly new innovation mostly intended as a convenience to guests who don't want to make a phone call or write their own response. They aren't a requirement. They don't even come with many invitation suites unless you specifically order them. Traditionally, the guest was expected to reply with a handwritten note on his/her own stationery, and in that situation, the host certainly wouldn't have been providing postage!
  • Can you put an RSVP option on your website?  I think you said you had an insert card with the website so maybe people will look there and RSVP at the same time (those who don't carry stamps).  I put the web address for the RSVP page on our RSVP cards with the intention that not every card will get a stamp, only the older/less tech savvy guests are getting stamped cards.  I know it's probably not the most proper thing but most of the people we know will gladly RSVP online and our wedding is certainly not formal.
