JUST remembered what we did Friday night. J shaved his beard, and I took pictures of him with a goatee and a mustache. For his goatee picture, he put on a dark suit and a black shirt and made an evil face. For his mustache picture, he put on a trench coat and made a creepy face. Needless to say, I'm not allowed to share the second picture on social media.

    What?! It's Monday again?! :-(

We had a pretty busy weekend. Q and I were at Disney for the most part. He had to cover some press events, and we were able to take the girls back with us yesterday which was cool.

We're more than likely adopting a kitty today! We're so excited to go meet him.

Also, we made it to the jeweler on Friday and BF is starting the designing process with him!

  • Uuuugh why must it be Monday?

I had a great weekend! Friday after work I went to my grand units for dinner with them and my sister. I even convinced my sister to play skip-bo! :) then I met C at Famous Dave's for the Blackhawks game

Saturday woody woke me up early to go outside... Bugger, but he hadn't been feeling well, so I couldn't complain too much. Lounged around, then C took me to see Captain America for my birthday. We were going to get sushi afterwards, but we ate too much popcorn, so we puttered around game stop, then went home. We were just going to kill time until the mayweather fight, buuuut I passed out on the couch.

Yesterday we lounged, went for sushi lunch, watched Blackhawks and did laundry.

It was a very nice and relaxing birthday. :)
  • @ollie08, yay kitty! I hope he's a nice boy!

  • @KeptInStitches - Kitties Rock!!!

@Buddysmom80 - You and your dress are beautiful!!

Friday night - Chilled at home.

Saturday - Nessie went to the groomer, sat home with Loki and watched TV with FI while Nessie was being groomed.  After that had to come into work.

Sunday - Slept in!!  Went out with FSIL and saw 'The Other Woman' - it was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it.  Had dinner with FI.

Today has been busy.  I had to get a filling re-filled, so my mouth is still numb (not cool) and I have a meeting in 15 minutes (also not cool).

  • @buddysmom80 your dress is gorgeous!

@LaPeanut1018 love your hair, the headband is really pretty.

@Ollie08 dear lord that is a cute kitten! I just want to snuggle him!

My weekend was somewhere between quiet and busy. Friday night I made soup and BF and I fell asleep on the couch watching tv. Saturday I did some cleaning (my kitchen looked like it belonged in a frat house) and went to see my sister. We did our Mother's Day shopping, and then went to dinner and Spiderman 2 with the BFs. Sunday was church, family hang out/movie, back to church.

Today I am extremely tired though, and it's making me cranky and unfocused. BF stayed at my place last night and was snoring SO loudly! I actually looked over at him at one point and said "I may kill you if you do not stop snoring"...I feel sort of bad about that now, but last night I was not happy at all!

@KeptInStitches KITTEH!! He is adorable! Would you keep his name Simon? Good luck and I hope you get him. This weekend was kind of boring.. not too much happened. Friday night we stayed in and just hung around. Saturday we took Tessie and my parent's dog, Dixie, to a conservation land near us for a walk. They loved it but it was a bit hot so we didn't stay too long. Then we went back and watched the Bruins kick ass! Saturday night BF made dinner for the whole family, Carne Asada. It was AMAZING. I told him he needs to make it again real soon. We called it "Tres de Mayo" since it was the third and we felt like drinking then. Yesterday we went with my parents to get our house warming gift. They bought us a patio set that came with a table, chairs, umbrella, base, two lounge chairs, two ottomans and a short bistro table. The set is very comfy. We then took Tessie for another long walk and then went and saw Spiderman. It was okay but it bugged me. I won't say why in case anyone else is going to see it. Then we just relaxed all night. Stupid TK won't let me add paragraphs!

  • @caseface5, it's @ollie08's potential cat, not mine. I only have Eleanor-cat. And soon Kade-cat (orange boy) when FI and I move in together.
  • @KeptinStitches I know how to read I swear, LOL. Sorry about that!

@Ollie08 are you keeping the name Simon? Hes adorable!! I want a cat so bad but both BF and I are allergic so it's not looking great, and Tessie has yet to meet a cat yet so who knows how that would go.

    Aww thanks everyone!

@Buddysmom80 - I've been warned. The good news is that our current kitty Layla is also an ass. So I'm hoping he's no worse than she is.

@caseface5 - We haven't decided if we will keep the name or not. Tentatively we will unless something else more fitting is in order! Hmm Maybe Ron? As in Ron Weasley? ;-) Also, I'm like deathly allergic to cats. I've been really blessed able to adapt to Layla's dander and stuff (she was Q's cat), and it seems like I am able to get used to them after a while. I still have swollen eyes etc if I touch the cat and touch my face, but I love them too much not to have them.

  • @caseface5 - I also used to be deathly allergic to cats. Like, my face would swell up and I couldn't breathe.

When I moved in with a former roommate who had a cat, I started taking Claritin, but eventually I just stopped, and I never had an issue. He slept with me every night too! When I got my own apartment and realized how damn lonely I was, I knew I couldn't get a dog because of my work schedule, so I went and adopted my Brady Monster - I've never had a problem with him!

  • That's amazing about your allergies you guys!!  I wish that would happen to me.  Claritin is absolutely useless.  I did just start getting allergy shots- cross your fingers for me please that it helps! I'm allergic to everything.  I scheduled my initial allergy test without thinking about the fact that I was wedding dress shopping later that day- I looked pretty crazy with my back covered in 50 welts!

  • I have bad allergies I think I may be allergic to cats actually, my allergies were never this bad before cats.  I have an appointment with an allergist in like two weeks so hopefully we will be able to figure things out  soon.

  • Good luck!  I already knew I was allergic to everything, but was still surprised at my results.  I was allergic to every single one of the 50 scratches that weren't food (4) and the worst, that reacted immediately, were grass, trees, dogs and cats.  She said I'm allergic to "everything in the environment".  Geeze I'm surprised I can even go outside.

    Little Simon is so sweet!

@ollie08 LOVE ginger kitties! I have one myself, named Pauly. He's a diehard Celtics cat fan named after Paul Pierce.

My weekend was a nice break from the first week back to work after vacation week. Let me tell you, the first week back was crazy. Friday after school I went for happy hour with a group of coworkers. Everyone aired their grievances and was able to kick back a bit. I left right before rush hour would hit, got home and FI was ready for dinner. So...we went out! We grabbed dinner on College Hill, went home and watched some TV, and then bed.

On Saturday & Sunday, FI worked. Periodically FI will work 21 days straight. It's due to overbooking jobs and having to borrow days from the weekend. So, I was on my own for the weekend! Saturday morning a parent invited me to a baseball game. I went for a couple innings- the kids really get spooked seeing me there on a weekend lol After the game I went out to lunch with a best friend and then came home to watch TV til FI got home. He watched some NBA on the DVR and I just lounged with him for the evening.

On Sunday morning, I did ALL of the Target shopping, it was glorious. I picked up something from every department basically. No regrets. Sunday is always a half sucky day. I always spend some of it working on school stuff. So yes, that's how the rest of Sunday went. Hoping this work week isn't crazy again.

ETA: How could I forget about the circus accident yesterday? Two of my students went to see the ringling bros. and are traumatized from their front row view.
  • I also had reactions to the pricks for dogs & cats! Doesn't stop me ;)

I reacted pretty bad to some of the grass & tree ones too. The whole experience kind of blew, haha!

  • @Ollie08 and @GoldenPenguin I've never though about that. Maybe we could try but I would feel awful getting a kitty to try and then having it not work and not being able to take care of the cat. I'm not that allergic but BF is. Maybe we can cat sit for someone to test it out! I miss my kitty so much! I had a ginger cat too, Simba.

@GoldenPenguin - OMG I was the SAME way! I normally can tell someone has a cat just by stepping inside a house. BF had a cat when we started dating, and when he moved in I said I'd give it a try (he was going to leave her with his roommate since I am allergic). It took a few months to get used to her. And now I only have a reaction when I'm being cocky and holding her all the time or rubbing my face after touching her. So far so good for the new addition.

@Caseface5 - It would be great to test it out for a little bit. I noticed a difference after about 2 months I'd say with Layla. I realized I wasn't getting as congested etc. We just vacuum twice per week and wash the bedding etc every week. It probably helps our couches are leather so her hair isn't stuck to everything.

@500days - Do you think orange kitties are the devil like @GoldenPenguin, @Swazzle & @Buddysmom80 do?

    Daisypath Anniversary tickers

  • Not directed at me, @ollie08, but FI's orange kitty is a giant teddy bear with a lot of maternal instincts. I think once Ellie-cat starts tolerating him all he'll want to do is groom her. And then he'll throw up grey-and-brown hairballs.
  • I'd be careful about that.  I always felt the same way (that if I was around an allergen I would eventually develop a resistance to it).  I got sick one day when I lived in Chicago and it got worse and worse for months- I was diagnosed with bronchitis, then pneumonia- in the end it turned out the entire thing was a lung disease caused by allergy.  This thing included coughing, fever, vomiting- I could barely breathe- and I had three fractured ribs from coughing!  They never found out what it was I was allergic to, I quit my job and moved in order to get better.  Sorry for the long story but my point is that I had no idea before that allergy could cause all that.  Now I take it much more seriously.

    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • I'm not saying kittysitting would cause all that, or even getting your own cat- just that prolonged exposure to a severe allergen can sometimes have the opposite effect of building resistance!

@ollie08 My ginger cat is really lazy. He does do some really strange things though. He will walk through the shower and sit in the corner, so I have a wet cat some times. He loves aluminum foil. Someone told me that cats hate aluminum foil and that many people place it underneath their Christmas tree so their cat will not climb up. So weird.

@500days I'm really glad you said that about the Christmas tree. He LOVES swatting balls across the floor and I'm sure the ornaments will be like an amusement park for him.

Note to self: Put aluminum foil under the Christmas tree :-)
