Re: Play along

  • haha, I could see Any kicking ass with a racket.

The thing that bugs me about Survivors is that they have no system. They just run around and never learn. After like 5 days of that you would have rules (no one goes out alone, no women and children go out at all, etc.)

They also worry a lot about being moral. After I realized it was dog eat dog, I would not care. I would steal and kill whoever tries to kill me and I wouldn't be able to hang with a group that is constantly questioning my tactics.

  • Thats what has pissed me off about walking dead, all the morals. WE DONT KILL THE LIVING. You do when they are bit by zombies and will eventually turn. Good lord.
  • Dude, I am fierce with a racket. You don't even know.
  • In Survivors, there is one guy who is the 'muscle' of the group. He saves all of their lives at least once an episode by shooting someone and then they get all butt-hurt about it. It's like, umm, can he get a 'thank-you'?

  • hahah he didnt HAVE to save you, idiots. I dont want to be survivors with people like that.
  • We have axes galore because of our wood stove. I think that would be my first choice. Guns run out of ammo.

  • My FI and I live in a second floor apartment. I would knock out the staircase so they can't cluimb up and stay inside. I would however, shoot from the windows to perfect my aim, as my FI does have a rifle in the house. We don't have a lot of food in the house so we would have to venture out at some point, mainly just steal food from my now zombie downstairs neighbors, and get more ammo.

And they make too much noise which attracts zombies.
  • Yes they do. I think I'd reserve my gun use for hunting in the woods.

  • Great question!  I love this kind of stuff.  First thing, try to secure the premises and get the gun prepped.  We live in the biggest city area in the US (NYC), so I think that the best thing would be to try to get out of dodge.  You are going to get the most density of zombies in the metropolitan areas and you will only be able to hold them off for so long. it would simply be a matter of time unless you can get out.

The problem is, getting out of a city during a major disaster is a nightmare.  Lived through it on 9/11 and the 2003 blackout.  Streets would be totally jammed going out of the city.  I almost wonder whether it would be better to try to get out on bikes.  Not sure in a zombie situation. If we could get out and surive the journey,  I would  hightail it to upstate NY near my sister and/or go to a camp deep in the adirondacks.
  • Getting out of NYC does sound like a smart idea, though in "the stand" (not zombies, but apocalypse) it was HARD getting out of the city. So it sounds like youre right about that. I think as long as you were well prepared and on foot you might do ok.
  • True dat Nebb.  My husband and I talk about this all the time.  What would we do if we have a nuclear attack, etc?  He is starting to become one of those nuts who wants to buy a hideway in the adirondacks were we can stock the place full of food and, uhm, armaments, in the event of something like this. And he is the city boy! I feel like you have a better chance in the country.  Zombies have less to feed on and have to survive rural areas and try to find more "food" with their fried zombie brains.
It is really hard getting out of the City for a holiday, let alone a major catastophe. Also, we work in different locations and I wonder how we would even find each other.  On September 11th, the cell phones were not working because of overuse and because the towers on the WTC went down.  We decided that if we can't get ahold of each other, we have a secret location in upstate NY that we would both try to get to independently and find each other.
I am strangely fascinated with this kind of stuff!
