Re: What are you excited/not excited about?

  • Not excited for the amount of work I will have to complete before leaving for the wedding.

I am so excited in 23 days we get married and in 25 days we go on our honeymoon!!!
Congrats! The time will fly by.

  • Yay!!! San Diego is awesome! FI and I only went for a day (we were visiting friends in Cali and took a day trip to SD), and we absolutely loved it!

  • Awww! I have the opposite problem. I have hair that will not stay straight. It wants to curl so badly, and not in a cute way otherwise I would just let it be. It just tends to get big and frizzy. I am also really lazy when it comes to products/straightening though so that might be part of my issue.

Awww, I'm sorry your curls didn't hold! I'm sure you still looked beautiful though. What kind of Gala was it? Sounds posh.
It was a work things for FI's company. It was nice, although there was a prom going on in the other room so there were some interesting bathroom conversations going on. And I guess I must be an old prude or something because those girls in super shot dresses with side cut-outs and low backs looked kind of trashy to me!

  • I'm not excited to go back to the pit and dig out more fossils. Its hot and humid and I hate it ha. I'm excited to go back home and see how V rearranged our living room. I'm excited for football to start sooo go seahawks! I'm looking forward to meeting Vs parents for the first time too! Basically I just want to leave the damn

I feel so judgy of those girls when I see them like that, and sad for them too. I am so proud that my youngest SIL who is 15 is the exact opposite of them. She is smart and classy and athletic and is just all around awesome. I love her.

I grew up in So Cal but have spent very little time in SD. I am excited that you give it a thumbs up. :)

Yay! OP, San Diego is awesome. I live there (here?). Let me know if you are interested in recommendations for anything in particular. I'm excited to have some "me" time. I'm kicking butt in yoga and getting stronger. It's my 10 year graduation from college this month and I have a reunion trip planned for next month with my BFFs. My brother just got engaged, and my best friend is getting married this fall. Lots of exciting stuff.

Awesome! So glad you have so much to look forward to. I think my biggest questions are about where we should eat. :) Any resturants we have to make sure to hit?

YES! Sadly, San Diego is not really a foodie-city. There are some good spots but it's very hit/miss. (I am admittedly a food snob). Are you staying in the downtown area? Are you looking for upscale, or less expensive, or a mix?

We are staying in the Gas Lamp District so I think that is close to downtown. We would probably be looking for a middle of the road place that isn't too expensive.

  • I'm excited to see my mom next weekend. I'm also excited for my first dress fitting (also next weekend). And I'm kinda excited to dye my hair again, even though I'm just going back to black.

I'm not excited to have to go to the tax office this afternoon. And I'm not excited for my sister's wedding in 3 weeks, which we're all fairly certain is going to be a cluster.

Have fun at your fitting! I love hanging out with my mom too! Tax-related issues are never fun.

  • My hair is super straight and has difficulty holding a curl (I used to get perms as a kid, and they'd grow out in 2 or 3 weeks). I tried curling it last weekend for a gala (it was rainy then too), and it held for maybe an hour? I was very sad.
I feel your pain- mine NEVER stays either =(  My stylist, of course, is amazeballs and when she does it, lasts for two days.  I don't know what kind of sorcery/witchcraft she's got going on, but I need some!

  • I am excited for a Monday off with FI (barring that he doesn't have to go to Prague last minute for work).  We've both been having a super hectic week with work, so I can't wait to sleep in and then head to my Aunt's for some Memorial Day shenaneganeries (oh, and my lovely cousin is turning 21!)

Also, I'm excited because I put together our box spring myself last night (and of course FI walked in the door just as I was finished).  But yeah, we order EVERYTHING off of Amazon, so the gigantic box was waiting for me when I got home (and taking up half of my steps).  I love to construct things.

There's a whole host of things I'm not excited about, but I'm good just thinking about what I AM excited for, for now =)

I am with you on the Niners.

I am looking forward to taking tomorrow off and having a four day weekend. I need to stock up on wine.

My DH is a Niners fan and they sort of stomped on his heart last season. :( I need to stock up on wine as well. I love Riesling! What's your choice?

  • Excited to get away with FI this weekend to a B&B in Missouri wine country.  We only have 2 weekends before his kids move back with us so we're enjoying our time now.  :)

Not so excited to move my stuff next weekend.  Lots of work to be done on my old house to get it ready to list, and my neighborhood has gone to complete shit.

  • I posted already but my mood has changed. Yesterday, I was ready to murder FI's son for eating my chocolate cake. I got an apology, a promise of a gigantic ice cream sundae with FI (FSS not included as punishment), and I got no argument about what tv we watched last night. Though I think that might have been more of a response to FI seeing me cry over chocolate cake...

Today is looking good. I didn't cash in my sundae (got home too late for it to be fun) so we're going tomorrow night. I get a date night! A movie of my choice (we always compromise), dinner, and ice cream! Woohoo! We usually end up canceling date nights for some reason or another and we never go on the rare weekends we have FSS (he's with us during the week but only 1 weekend a month). However, his ex has been canceling most weekends lately so we have no alone time. FSS has been a complete beast lately and I've been stressed so FI's fussing over me a bit.

Next week is also going to be super-exciting and crucial to the development of our company. I can't wait but am incredibly anxious!

Whatever red is the cheapest at Trader Joe's. I do drink 2 buck chuck. I have no shame when it comes to wine.
  • I am so excited for life! I know that sounds silly, but I'm probably still in the honeymoon phase (got married on May 3). We didn't live together before the wedding, and until a couple of months ago were kind of long distance and only saw each other on weekends so waking up together and seeing each other every day is just bliss.

We need to clean up our house though because we might have an overnight guest tomorrow (yay! love having guests! another excitement!)--we both are away from home 12+ hours per day and we're really bad influences on each other and just want to hang out and talk and watch tv and not do housework.

Also we will hopefully have central air put in our house next week, which YAY! We've had to suffer through a couple of random 80 degree days and it's HOT in there without air.

Hey I love two buck too. Some bottles are really good and some are not so good, but it's all cheap so what the hell. :)

Awww! So glad you guys are having so much settling into married life! It's so nice, isn't it? :)

ETA: DH and I have been lazy too. We have so much yard work to do and zero desire to do it. hot weather + no air conditioning = suckiness. Hope you get air soon!

Um, no idea why my computer got so excited to post... Oh well. I am NOT excited for work, at all. I'm going to renew my CNA license so that I can go back to working in healthcare. The stuff I'm dealing with now is starting to get bad. I'm working with a board that has the goal of getting my boss (who is great at his job- and I'm saying this from an unbiased perspective) out of here, and attack me because I make my boss look even better at his job. On top of it all, I don't get benefits, am hourly (so when budget is short, they just cut my hours), and couldn't even take sick time when I had to go to a funeral last week- getting the time off was a struggle. We got a grill, so that is super exciting! I've wanted one for a long time, and have been grilling everything that past few nights. ETA: Sorry for the lack of paragraphs! :(

Gas Lamp District is in the heart of downtown. My favorite restaurants in the mid-price range are Cafe Bleu (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! A-MAZING food for the price. Mondays they do half off bottles of wine.), Cafe Chloe, Cucina Urbana (must have reservations in advance - even if a week day) and Azuki Sushi.

Oh and if you do happy hour you MUST check out Cafe 21. $10 pitchers of Sangria and inexpensive tapas. Really yummy. I don't do dinner there because it's more $$ but the happy hour and tapas is dinner for me and it's priced really well.
