  • I'm betting that they did the bait and switch because they wanted people to attend the ceremony, which some might not have done had they known about the gap.

Gotta ask, was the reception in KC? I ask because hubby came home telling me about a wedding of a co-worker an hour away, but the reception here. I was like no way, how rude! But add to that no cake. That's just wrong.
Not in KC. It was in mid-Missouri, ya know where they pronounce it Missour-uh.

And sophhabobopha- yes. 2 couches for 175 people. Not even a water fountain. At least once they let us in the ballroom, there was a seat for every butt.

  • Switch gap. Then gap. Then cake.

I'd happily give up my serving of cake if it means no gap.
In fact...You can have the cake, the favor, the centerpiece and appetizers, if there's no gaps and we eat immediately! The only thing I hate more than a gap is a cash bar.

Part of me wonders if "Reception to follow" was on the invitation template (a lot of those online invitations have it on there). Then, they probably herped the derp and thought that, well, yes, the reception DOES follow the wedding, not realizing it means the reception is right after the wedding, as in no gap.

I've seen other homemade invitations that say, "Reception to immediately follow", because obviously those brides don't get it either. Now it's just redundant.

    Ugh.

Anyway, as much as I HATE gaps, I'd rather know in advance so I could plan to visit something local, get some food, and talk shit about the B&G with other wedding guests.

Attention Snowflakes - yes, it DOES happen. We will talk about you while eating and drinking and standing around in uncomfortable shoes, unable to do much of anything because we're in dress clothes. Screw you, Gap People. The longer the gap, the smaller the check you get because I just had to entertain myself and feed myself during your precious picture time.
  • How on earth do you run out of cake?! We had 11 people, including us and my cake fed 35+ people. Granted we expected a few more people to come but there would have been cake o'plenty. The husband and I had champagne and cake for breakfast the morning we left Vegas and so did our friends.

  • Yeah, we didn't run out of cake either... but then again there were 35 guests that RSVP'd and didn't show up. Yeah... that wasn't cool.

  • But, part of our favors include a vanilla cupcake with raspberries and lemon curd filling with a lemon glaze (my parents wedding cake flavor) and a carrot spice cupcake with cream cheese goodness (in laws wedding cake flavor). Plus other snacks. So, maybe we won't need more.

I love this idea - using your parents respective wedding cake flavors for your wedding favors is an awesome idea!  I already planned favors but I may have to try to steal this one somehow...maybe dessert for our rehearsal/welcome dinner.
