High waisted bikinis: Yay or nay?

Re: High waisted bikinis: Yay or nay?

  • Tan lines. No.
I'm a ginger. I don't tan for fear of immediate skin cancer.

I love one pieces but they never ever fit. I need those bra type tops with actual sizes in order to be happy with my top.

I like it, but I'm scared of it. I always adapt trends like 10 years after they're trendy.

Same! Ok, not a ginger but I'm as pale as many. I just have black hair instead. Besides, I look better not tanned.

  • I think it looks awesome if you can pull it off. If I can get back to my ideal weight (need to lose about 5-8 pounds and get rid of the little love handles I'm developing) then I think I could rock it.

At first I was like oh hell no, but then I found this ruched one and think it could actually be pretty universally flattering. Kinda tempted: clicky

Well I bought one! It's not very high waisted, it's just below the belly button. I'm sorta tall and I'm not like thin but I have a nice figure. I think I could pull it off, and if I can't, I'm going to wear it anyway.
I think that if you feel confident in it, you'll rock it. I'm a big believer in attitude being at least 50% of what make an outfit look good. If you can tell the wearer doesn't like the outfit or feels self-conscious in it, that makes you feel self-conscious for them.

  • I wish I could pull off the high-waisted look. One of my friends has the perfect body type for it and rocks it all the time.

I'll just stick to my strapless one-piece suits for the beach. I have a ruched one that is very cute and flattering.

That's cute! I don't the tank-top-that-make-it-look-like-a-one-piece, though. It it supposed to look like two pieces or one piece?

I have a suit that is pretty similar to that one, actually, but it is a one piece that is supposed to look like a tankini, I guess.

Yeah I really wish the top was just a regular bikini top.

  • I have never worn a bikini in my life but I might have to try one of these. So cute!

Usually I wear swim dresses. I know, totally old lady, right? Nope! I have them in like 6 different colors and FI loves all of them because they look like tiny sundresses that show off my butt.

I want one just to cover up my terrible got at 17 tattoo.

I have no boobs so buying and wearing swim suits are anxiety producing for me. However pool season is here and I have kids so I have to find something.
  • DF likes my black skirted bottom, but he likes any swimsuit I wear.

I honestly think almost every woman looks better in a two piece. Even if it's a tankini top and high waisted bottom for full coverage. The fit is so much better and it seems to be a huge confidence boost. But, swimsuits have the same bra issue. The fact most aren't wearing the right size. I'm big boobed. I swim, dive, play water volleyball in a bikini and have never slipped out at all. Because I'm wearing a bra that actually holds everything in place. If you slip out, your top is too small.

UMM that's pretty close to what I got. I got a ruffly top in neon green and the bottoms are a blue/teal.

  • I don't think I can pull it off. Maybe after I lose another 10 pounds. But I am a small person with a short torso, so I just think it would make me look terrible. I do think it looks fabulous on some, though.

  • I might have to try this look to hide my stretch marks   >.<

I wear high-waisted everything already because it sucks in and smoothes out everything. Usually you can't tell, though, because long tops cover it.

Yeah I grew super fast and have a bunch of white marks on my hips. Hopefully it'll cover.
