Ah. So. This morning I went to Yoga (ugh, so unflexible, so out of shape) and then I drove to the fancy mall to get one of our knives sharpened, and go to C&B, to get the knife block from our registry so I can FINALLY get the knives out of the drawer. I also went to the grocery store and picked up some stuff and wings, so we're eating wings tonight.
While at the mall, I stopped by Nordstrom's Rack. I found these beauties. They're Sofft, leather uppers, super comfy, and were only 35 dollars. Pardon my AW.
I love Nordstrom Rack! Their discounts are unreal. I got the dress I'm wearing now from there for like 1000000% off it's real life price.
chibiyui - I LOVE those shoes! And they look comfy!
SapphireCounselor - That is so sweet of DH! I've heard that counseling is highly competitive, one of my friends is actually trying to break into that field, herself.
@pinkcow13 Oh! What kind of counseling? I'm in California, so our counseling/mental health world is really competitive, but it is different in different places in the country. It really depends on your specialty too. I'd really love to end up being a high school counselor. I'm hoping some of the schools I've applied to recently will at least give me an interview.
SapphireCounselor - She wants to go into drug abuse counseling. She completed an internship, and is now trying to get a full time job. She tells me that the competition is stiff here in NYC, which I definitely believe!

I believe that too! The whole internship thing with counseling is so frustrating! I definitely understand the need for that kind of trainee role for new therapists/school counselors, but a lot of times that means you are required to either work for free or for peanuts for a few years if you want that mental health license! At least this is true in CA. Not sure about NY.

As far as I know, it is the same here. I wanted to become a psychologist, my interest was in clinical psychology, but it would require tons of school, plus years at an internship level which in most cases, would be unpaid. I believe my friends internship was unpaid, and she had a job at the Home Depot on the side.

Wow! I didn't know this about your background. Yeah, I'm not sure how the structure of the mental health profession evolved, but it is rough until you get the license.
SapphireCounselor yup, that was what I went to undergrad for. I had a business minor though, and decided to go that route. I sometimes question my decision. A lot lol!

My undergrad was in journalism. I loved it, but that is a dying field in which no one was making any money. I question my decision sometimes too, but hope it will ultimately pay off.

Originally I wanted to go for journalism!!! But my school didn't offer a journalism program, so I chose psychology, which I loved. My plan was to transfer out after a year but I ended up loving my school so I stayed. That decision I don't regret!
@kasmith1, fun! I'm considering starting up salsa lessons again soon.

See this is exactly what I try to tell my students that try to plan their lives to the nth degree. Some choices you do control, but with others life just happens and you adapt.

Lol. No I did not make friends with him. My co-workers are determined now though so I have a feeling that is not the last I will see of the opossum.
Pete. Pete the opossum.
