What are your favorite brands and flavors? Or least favorite? Mine, as of now and in no special order, are Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey and Phish food, breyers mint chocolate chip, and blue bell peppermint stick and Dutch chocolate. FI is a vanilla, peanut butter cup, or cookie dough kinda guy and just gets whatever is in sale, but I think the cheaper brands often skimp on flavors and mix-ins. If I'm splurging on calories, I'll gladly pay for quality!
The only flavor I haven't cared for is Ben and Jerry's red velvet cake. It was overly sweet and didn't taste at all like red velvet.
There are some flavors I miss dearly. When my family went to Maine every summer, there was a stand that had a flavor called mint summer nights dream:chocolate ice cream with mint, chocolate chips, some kind of nougat swirl, and almonds. The best after a day at the beach! Also, I haven't seen Ben and Jerry's Chubby Hubby in awhile ( vanilla malt ice cream with chocolate covered peanut butter-filled pretzels--need I say more?)--practically lived on that stuff one summer while rooming with a friend in NYC who had no air conditioning.
So what kinds will you be eating this summer? Are you more for fruity, vanilla, or chocolate? Any new flavors we should try, or ones to avoid?
Re: National Ice Cream Month is approaching...
I LOVE B&J's Milk and Cookies. Also, anything birthday cake flavored. My favorite thing at Coldstone is the birthday cake remix sundae.
I'm also incredibly partial to vanilla soft serve ice cream with chocolate sprinkles.
Salted caramel is one of the flavors I get if FI and I decide to each get our own small pints. He's not a fan of the sweet and savory combo--more for me! I bet homemade salted caramel is divine.
Anyways, tiger tail is orange flavoured ice cream with streaks/chunks of black licorice. It is amazing.
Now you're trying to seduce me.
