Thursday Chatter!

Re: Thursday Chatter!

  • @weewittlewizabeth - I know, right?!  There's no way I've taken 757 steps this morning :-P  Apparently it resets the count at midnight, but unless I was doing some sleepwalking - down the block - I don't think so!

The elliptical came with a HRM, but there is one available that pairs with the vivofit.  Which one did you mean is inaccurate?  Or (likely) both??

  • @kelani23 I feel like 757 steps is pretty achievable by this time of day so maybe you have? I mean I'm barely walking due to limping still and I've probably got 200-300 steps under my belt just from getting ready this morning. @southernpeach89 did you know your sisters name is (gasp) rather uncommon? She was the ONLY one when I was registry stalking yesterday lol. I expected like twelve. Do you have any tall Jenns from Florida in the family? If so, she might be in my sisters upcoming wedding lol
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @kelani23 757 steps could be accurate. I meant calorie counting on the cardio machines is really inaccurate. The polar watch is accurate because it bases calories burned on your heart rate. Basically anything that monitors your heart rate will be accurate. I've never heard of a vivofit, but I'm assuming it's similar to FitBit or something like that. I would look into how that particular device counts your steps... for example, is it based on wrist movement? But regardless, trust a device that monitors your heart rate over anything else.

  • @Blue -LOL! Her name is about to become really common! Our maiden name is unique but I've met people who I'm not related to who have it. Her new last name is really popular though so stalking her is going to be quite difficult haha.

We do have family in FL but not with our maiden name. They are on my mom's side and they live in PC and Miami.
  • @Blue & White sending house vibes your way that they pick you!

  • @southernpeach89 I know two different families in Naples and Sarasota with your maiden name ;). My maiden name is not even close to common especially with our spelling. In other news my parents' garage door is broken and my dad didn't have a key to the house until yesterday lol. How has he lived there since 1998 without a key!? Even I have a key!

  • @Blue -Too funny! He has been lucky that the garage opener hasn't died on him all those years lol.
  • I'm also alone at work. I've been cleaning the lab and avoiding that fish fossil. I'm going to leave early today. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. My parents are visiting and we are going to lunch. Afterwards v and I are going to the Salem fair!yay!

No idea what we are doing saturday or Sunday though. I'm going to try and workout. I've lost 3 pounds and I want to keep it going.

  • @Swazzle - I want to go to RK Bridal in the morning (maybe 10ish?). Need to wait to hear back from my mom and sister, but if we're definitely going I'll let you know! You are ALWAYS welcome to come dress shopping with me :-)

  • Hi everybody! Hope you all are almost free from work!

Today I'm at home because no clinical this week for the holiday! But I have to work night shift, so I'm just doing busywork until I have to go to sleep. >_< BUT, I'm excited for night shift because 1) money, 2) I have an orientee, so unless we have a MILLION crazy patients tonight should be a breeze, and 3) study time/job-hunting time/vacation planning time. It's all good.

I'll sleep most of the day tomorrow and then probably go see fireworks with friends. But to be honest, I really just want to curl up on my couch and watch Independence Day. I haven't seen that movie in years.

This weekend is just studying and working again.

  • My entire facebook has been nothing all week except rants about Hobby Lobby and rants about that Texas cheerleader African game killer.  It makes me tired just looking at my facebook feed.  Can we just go back to pictures of cute babies?

Luckily, there hasn't been much about the HL thing on my FB feed. I would probably lose my mind and go on an unfriending spree otherwise.

I don't think I heard about the Texas cheerleader thing.

And not all babies are cute!

  • Oh my god. I should never have looked that up. Now I want to cry.

  • I have people who feel both ways about HL on my Facebook feed. I basically want to smack half of them.

@Kelani23 I would probably freak the eff out with screaming terrors in that restaurant if that happened to me. @carliealissa the only people on my fb that are saying anything about Hobby Lobby are the ones who are upset by the result, and I'm okay with that. I haven't seen anybody coming out in support of it, otherwise it might annoy me more. I actually have plans this weekend! Tomorrow we will be watching the fireworks in my town, but during the day I will probably take my daughter to the beach. Saturday we have plans to go to a carnival with rides, beer, and a parade! Nothing no Sunday that I know of... probably massive amounts of homework :( STOP EATING MY PARAGRAPHS TK!!

  • @swazzle - YAY! Can't wait to see you :)

@tuarceatha - You've seen me in the dress, it's the one I found when you and I went shopping. I'll def AW a pic of it after Saturday, though. Also, let's now wait until late August to see each other again!

I always feel like I get to these so late because of the West Coast time difference
     :(

Anyways, I have a long day ahead of me, with a meeting that will possibly last until 10 pm tonight with Asia (yuck). But, 3 day weekend! BF and I are going to our friends' new house tomorrow for their BBQ/Housewarming party in the afternoon, and then watching the fireworks over the bay from our roof. Does anyone have any good housewarming gift ideas? This is my first housewarming party and I am a bit clueless. They like pretty much any form of alcohol, but we normally brought that with us to their dinner parties in their old apartment anyways, so I was hoping to come up with something more creative. She loves to cook, so I was also thinking of a gourmet food basket of some sort? What do you ladies think?

BF and I might go to the local fair on Saturday or Sunday, but we might just chill out at home too. We haven't really decided yet.

And then next week, we fly to Albany NY for my friend's wedding in Saratoga on Saturday! @GoldenPenguin I will have to see what Friday looks like in terms of visiting my family, but maybe we should do lunch if you are free!

I'm sure it doesn't help that a large number of my friends are people I met in or through law school.  Any time anything happens, everyone I know goes crazy + has a lot to say.

I actually think I only have about a dozen facebook friends in total who are on the far opposite side of my political views- I admit that they usually drive me too crazy- so most people are usually posting things I agree with.  But then THEIR friends argue with them, and being strongly opinioned myself, I either get sucked in or I just get a headache.

This is just not all anything I feel like dealing with when I want to waste time scrolling through facebook :)
