NWR: Vacation

image

This is the view from our room. Which is the only one on the third floor.

I could get used to this.

Anybody else taking vacation this week?

Re: NWR: Vacation

  • Sort of?  FBIL is getting married down the Jersey shore.

The reception itself should be really fun.  The rest of the weekend feels more like family obligation at a time when I should be studying or relaxing.

But I'm going to look hot in my dress.  And it's open bar.

Plus, you don't have to study for a couple of days! Hooray! Get drunk, look hot, have fun!

  • Not this week, but I think we're going to Bar Harbor towards the end of the month. FI needs a break, and we're both looking forward to it.

  • Ah, I wish!!

We were just talking about vacations next year. I need something to look forward to!

  • I wish,I have to wait until first week in Nov.    Well I am going to a wedding in NYC in Sept.  But I don't consider it a vacation.  Too much work.   Mexico will just be us, maybe one other couple.  But no family.  I'm over spending my vacations with family.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Nope, we are moving in a couple of weeks so no trips right now.  We will have a couple of weeks between the move and DH having to report to his new duty station so we may hit up our respective parents during that time.  Between the new baby coming a potential deployment on the horizon we probably won't be able to visit them again for a year to two.

  • Not this week, but DH and I are going on a weekend cruise the end of August for a quick get away.  Then we are planning a week long cruise in Jan/Feb to celebrate our first anniversary.

  • No planed vacations until October for my birthday and our anniversary.

That view is so nice! I wish I was there!

  • No vacations for us this year. Between buying a house in March and getting married in September, we have WAY too much going on to go away, plus no dollars to fund going away. Hopefully we'll get to take a delayed honeymoon next year and go somewhere tropical!
  • Not this month, but we are actively planning our 2 week HM after we get married in August.  We are so excited for that!
  • So jealous!

No vacations until the HM in September.
  • I'm sad that this is the first year since FI and I have been together that we aren't going to Wilmington and Southport for fireworks...

No vacation until our honeymoon in December...

  • No vacation for us, unless you count spending alllllll day tomorrow at Bandimere Speedway watching the "jet car nationals" a vacation (...I don't. FI is giddy excited, though, so I'm taking one for the team).

  • Have fun on vacay!! I don't think we will be taking any major vacations this year. No weekend plans, either. And apparently now I am battling a cold. blech.

  • We took a vacation in January, so nothing else for us this year.  This weekend we are headed to my parents' lake house for typical 4th of July celebrations - Beer, BBQ, and Boating.  They have crappy wi-fi, which makes it even easier for me to tell work to shove it and that I'm not bringing my laptop with me.

But, next week I go to NYC on business for client meetings.  It sounds fun and glamorous, but I only get to see the hotel, the office, and maybe a restaurant or two.  But I get frequent flier miles and a comfy hotel bed all to myself!
  • V and I are going to visit his family/friends in early August. I'm nervous and excited at the same time! We might find some hiking, I'm not sure though. I've never been to Georgia so this will be interesting!

FI wants to take me to the Syracuse Nationals car show in a few weeks. I am less than thrilled but I know he'll probably pee his pants in excitement once we get there. So to a car show I will go because I love that man.

Oh man that looks breathtaking! Yes, I'm going on vacation too, but my view will be of the side yard and pool equipment from my parents' guest room. Lol, but I'm hoping to get to Laguna Beach for at least a few hours while in OC. Super bummed out that my best friend and beach buddy is working all weekend.

What we do for love, I tell ya! I have absolutely ZERO interest in the race/car show/whateverthehellitis...but the people watching should be supreme! And they apparently put on a good fireworks show, so just throw some (lots) of beer in there & I'll survive ;)

  • beethery We are going to V's hometown Rhine Georgia. He said the population is 500 so it will be the smallest place I've ever been too. V says its about 2 hours away from Atlanta. And sure would love to hear recommendations!

  • Looks so relaxing!

We're driving 8 hours tomorrow to visit FI's grandparents in the middle of BFE, so I'm hard pressed to call it a "vacation" but....we'll get fed really well for the weekend, so I'll take it!

I have some ATL recommendations for you!

Day trip (bring a cooler): Sweet Auburn Curb Market. Lots of good stuff, and some places to eat. There was a burrito place in there that was off the damn chain. Also, the aquarium!!!! And World Of Coca-Cola! Also, Vortex in L5P if you're not going to eat at market. SO GOOD. Get a dragonberry iced tea.

Whoops its three hours ha. That all sounds very fun! We love food  those places sound great and aquariums are a lot of fun. Thanks! We might be there for one or two weeks, we aren't sure yet. I'll try and drag V's butt there. He doesn't like all the traffic and construction.

oh lord one or two weeks, you're going to want to do some day trips. Go to Savannah, go all over the damn place. I'll see if I can dig up some more sight-seeing shit around the town you're visiting. I'm not super familiar with that area because I'm from Senoia, but I'll see what I can find.

Thanks! I will gladly take all of your suggestions. I'm really looking forward to it. V visits his family twice a year so he tries to makeup for it by staying for a bit. V jokes that where he is from is a tiny Europe because all the surrounding owns are named after towns in Europe ha. His mom is so excited to meet me too. She had stuff made and the fireplace fixed up for our visit. I hope I don't disappoint.

  • We are going to Napa in a couple of weeks for our 1 year anniversary (and we're going to pick up our wedding license too!).
  • Beautiful beach!  @inkdancer - where is that?
