I hate those newsletters but the more donations, the merrier!
This may be an UO, but I don't think this should be stickied. We want to help the Knotties we've grown to know and love, but as a newb or casual newsletter reader I would be incredibly turned off by the pushiness. Don't we always rail against people sharing random GFMs on FB, and pressuring people to donate to people they've never heard of before? I understand the intent but I think WOM is a better way to go. Huh? There's nothing pushy about any of this. No one is asking anyone to donate. DAMN YOU AND YOUR BOX ISSUES, TK!
No not any of THIS, but having a sticky with a perma-link could come off as pushy. I'm all about
this right now and am totally buying a t-shirt. I just don't want new people to get the wrong idea that either they'll be asked for money all the time, or that it's ok for them to ask for donations toward whatever they support, etc. I just think it paints a spontaneous and wonderful gesture in the wrong light and I don't want that to happen.

  • I love the first tee shirt design. I also agree with lolo883 that making it a sticky could bite us in the ass. Next time a vendor/gfm/etc post pops up we will probably have our sticky used as a reason for why

  • I also love the first tee shirt design! And I think donating blood (for those of us who are able) is a fantastic idea.

These are great! If we use a site like Zazzle or Cafe Press there's no reason why we can't have all three options so people can get the design they are most comfortable with. Zazzle actually has a setting built in where proceeds can go to charity. The NCI isn't listed- we can always suggest it, however. Here is the list of charities they support- they include the National Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation http://www.zazzle.com/zazzlegiving What do you all think about using The Knot blue somewhere in the logo- or in the color of the shirts? And yes, once it is set up- I'll make a new thread.

  • No running (arthritis) and no blood/marrow donations (lived in the UK in the late 80s and have autoimmune issues) but I will buy a shirt or two. I prefer the 1st design but would buy the 3rd also.

  • I love all 3 tees! I am also interested in blood donations, we have a ton of blood drives at my job. I am O+ so my blood is always in high demand :)

  • I don't think I'll be donating any blood any time soon, but I'll def get a shirt :)

  • Whoever puts them up for sale needs to let me know so I can send them high-res vector files.

Me neither, and I'm O+ :/  I have had too many bad experiences with bad phlebotomists.

I will def get a shirt though!  GG everyone!

  • I like the idea, but I honestly would not be comfortable wearing anything with a cuss word, even a censored one like "eff" whatever on it. I think the designs themselves are gorgeous, though, especially the first one.

You can email them to me- laurenashleypg at gmail.com I'll post screen shots showing the charity donation set up when I post the new thread. I've looked into Cafe Press's Tfund and Zazzle Giving and feel that Zazzle Giving is a far better match for what we are trying to do. I can set it up so 100% of the proceeds go directly to charity and no money will ever touch my or any other Knottie's hands. I've already emailed them asking about the process to add NCI. I listed John Hopkins and Mayo as second choice charities if they are unable to give to a government organization.

If that fails, my vote goes for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. They have pretty high ratings on Charity Navigator: http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=3993#.U7sA9o1dWFc Plan B would be to set it up without a charitable component and simply write a check for the full amount raised to the NCI. But I feel everyone would be more comfortable if the donation is direct opposed to having to trust me or someone else to actually make the donation.

@Beethery maybe we can do a "Fight Cancer" version too?

Or would something non-wearable be a better option @lovesclimbing, like a mug? (Not that you couldn't just make a donation, if you were so inclined.)
