Parking spaces at my apartment complex are at a premium. Every apartment/townhouse gets one assigned spot, there is one guest spot per 4 assigned spots, and (the holy grail), a handful of covered car ports the can be rented at a certain amount per month. I have a car port, the last one available, and it is MINE. I come home for work today and SOMEONE IS IN MY SPOT. I'm so ragey, I paid for it and it is mine! I called the courtesy officer and left a message, but that was 3 hours ago, I got no response AND THE CAR IS STILL THERE. I really can't handle my anger right now. Talk me down from leaving a passive aggressive note / keying the damn thing!

Oh, I would be so pissed. That happened to me once. There were no spots left in my parking lot at all and I had to park outside the gate on the street down the block and walk to my apartment at midnight.

To they have the tow company number posted anywhere. I used to live in a complex about a mile from the ocean so we were very protective of our parking lot and they had the number for the tow company they contracted with posted somewhere on the property.

I had a similar sitch a few places ago... assigned, covered parking that was $25/month. Asshole next door (who didn't even really live there, but was staying with his mom) parked in my space, so I had to park in the one next to it. (that space wasn't rented, according to the leasing office when I rented my space) I was in such a zone leaving for work the next morning that I was on auto-pilot, and cranked my wheel at the time I was used to cranking it, but the pole supporting the car port that was normally on my left was now on my right and I crashed right into it. Totally irrationally blamed him for it. Ugh.

I'd keep calling the management office. I doubt a tow truck will show up and do something without authorization BUT I'd raise holy he!l with the office about 1, your inconvenience and 2, WTF are you paying for if they're not going to enforce policy?

Part of me is like, yeah, if they were parking there for a little bit, just a quick in and out, I kinda get it, especially when all the guest spots are taken.

But no, they're still there, probably staying the night, and when I pulled in the guest spots were still open. There's even a freaking sign that says "RENTED" above my spot! I was considering parking behind them so they couldn't leave, but I'd block in my nice neighbor if I did so

I'm leaving it for tonight, but I leave early in the mornings and this car is getting a politely worded note on their windshield if they ain't gone yet.

... I hope the office didn't double-sell my spot. Hopefully this person is just illiterate.

A quick stay with the cars hazards on I wouldn't be upset. Just parked there is unacceptable.

We have parking spots assigned to each condo. My spot is right next to the garbage room. So. Many. Times. A car is either parked in my spot or blocking me in because somebody drove their garbage to the garbage room or is digging through the recycling to collect bottles to return for deposit. Most people act like I am being a be-atch for asking them to move their cars.

We had a similar situation at our last apartment. H and I had 2 cars and only 1 spot, so one of us generally needed to find a guest spot. Most days it was doable. The thing that made me ragey is one of our neighbors parked a junker in one of the guest spots and didn't move it for the entire winter. The snow made it extremely obvious that no one was touching the car.

I would leave a note informing them that if it happens again, you will remove their tires. Then be prepared to follow through. I used to be in a state of constant rage about my neighbor having her guests park in my spot, but that neighbor finally moved out.

I have burgundy dings all along the side of my black car from my old neighbor's dipshit girlfriend parking too close and smacking her car doors against my car. My apartment building had 5 parking spots, one for each apartment. My spot was #3. I got home one day, and that stupid bitch had parked like this:

(burgundy dumb being her car) Spot #2 and spot #4 were parked in by neighbor and his friend. My spot was empty, and when I got home, nobody was in that guy's apartment, so I had to park on the fucking street. I left a post-it on the door that said "Please move the car that is blocking parking the empty parking space. ---#3"

So I end up going to bed, and wake up to my door getting beaten on at fucking midnight. It is downstairs neighbor, backed up by dipshit GF, drunk (on a tuesday!!! yay!) and all pissy about being asked to move the car.

I told them I'd rather they didn't get their drunk asses in a vehicle and having the potential of injuring someone who's life actually had some meaning. Landlord got a call the next morning. Dipshit broad still parked in the wrong spot all the fucking time, ON PURPOSE. Other things happened, and I was super happy to move out of there.

Still there this AM. Kept my cool, left a note on the windshield "THIS CARPORT IS RENTED PLEASE MOVE!" and now I wait. The office closes at 6PM and opens and 9AM, so I haven't heard from them. The courtesy officer is supposed to be on call 24/7, but I'm not holding my breath. I should get home before the office closes today, so if the car is still there I can bitch about it and the courtesy officer not responding to two calls. If the office doesn't do anything, i'm calling a tow truck, it's been 24hours!

When I moved out to the west coast I had never seen carports before. I parked at my friend's apartment complex under one and there were NO signs anywhere. A few hours later my car was gone. Not knowing the rules, I called the police and told them my car was stolen hahahah. They called me back an hour later and said it's at so and so tow lot. I was so mad that the person didn't try to leave me a note or warn me first because I honestly didn't know! I told the apartment complex they should pay for the tow because they don't have any reserved parking signs up so how was I supposed to know and they were like "everyone around here just knows". I'm like so what about people not from around here? You don't consider them? And they looked at me like I was crazy and just repeated "everyone knows".

At least yours says right on it RENTED!

I'd ask for a free month or some type of compensation from the rental office. If they don't respond to issues with a rented space, what's the point in renting it? Their handling is basically telling you that you could just park there for free and they're not going to do anything.

Oh hell no, this would piss me off to no end. I pay $90 a month for a garage, and there is a drive in front of the garage that obviously is my drive. One Saturday a couple of months ago I need to drive an hour across town to set up for a bridal shower I'm hosting and I go down at 7:30 am and someone is in my driveway. I immediately got on the line with the management company (luckily we have 24/7 call center service) and had them call the tow company. I couldn't freaking get my car out of my garage and leave! As I wait on the tow truck, down comes some teenager who clearly belongs to the car. I tell her to move her car immediately and the tow company is on their way. She didn't so much as apologize. I was freaking pissed.

If I were you, I'd call the office as soon as they opened and tell them they better have the car towed and my space be available when I get home. Someone parks in a space that's not theirs, too bad - you now get to spend a couple hundred dollars to get your car out of the tow lot. So rude!

I almost went all Charlie's Angels on some guy that was parked blocking my driveway because I was all nice " hey, can you move your car, I can't get into my driveway, that's my house." "... Doesn't have your name on it." My anger said MOVE BITCH BEFORE I RAM YOUR SHITTY TRUCK but my brain said "you have 90 seconds to move before a tow truck is dispatched". He moved, and to my surprise, I didn't wake up with slashed tires.

Tow truck. When we lived in an apartment complex we rented a garage, which had a parking spot in front of it and people parked there and blocked us in all the time. It was infuriating, especially if we were blocked in and needed go go somewhere.
