Usernames

I'm curious as to how everyone chose their username. I have no story behind mine other than its a combination of first/middle/and last names. And 12 is my favorite number.

Re: Usernames

  • Mine used to be my nickname + Red Sox + my year of birth, but I didn't like my name being out there so I changed it.

I have a Golden Retriever and I fucking love penguins. Hence, GoldenPenguin.

Short for "Sapphira," which is an internet/forum identity I've been using for over 10 years. It's pronounced "FEAR-uh."

I worked at a Girl Scout summer camp where we had to pick our "Camp Names" that the children would call us. Many years ago, the Girl Scouts decided that calling counselors by their first names was too informal and not respectful enough, but calling them Ms. LastName was too formal for camp. Hence, camp nick names were born and each counselor gets to pick their own! I have always loved Sleeping Beauty, and no one had Aurora yet, so I picked that. It is not at all similar to my real name, but I do answer to it (after having little kids call me that for many summers!), so it is kind of a nick name for me. Roses are my favorite flower, and my birthday is on April 1.

I've been saying it wrong all this time. I pronounce it "F-EYE-ruh" or however you phonetically spell a long I

Same could be said for my sn. @swazzle always calls me "ah-lee", but it's pronounced "oh-lee"

  • I don't have a good reason for mine. After all the shizz happened with someone's personal information accidentally getting shared on the e-board I decided to change it just because.

  • Dignity is the name of a Bob Dylan song - most specifically it came from the lyrics:
'Somebody took a picture and I just laughed, Dignity had never been photographed' because I HATE having my picture taken.

The 100 is just 'cause it's easy to remember

  • Mine is the word "rainbow" in Gaelic, because rainbows.
  • Mine is one of the nicknames FI gave me a while back. I'm thinking about changing it though because it rather obviously incorporates my first name.

  • Allusive was the SAT word of the day back in HS when I set up my AIM account. 7 is my favorite number. Don't remember how I added the 00...but some form of Allusive has been my name ever since.
  • I have a dog named Pepper and a cat named Ally.
  • I had just watched a cute video about a hummingbird...

@Ollie08 I'm guilty of thinking it was pronounced ah-lee as well :\  I'm sure there could be different pronunciations of mine though, too.

  • @severmilli12 - Yeah, perhaps! See, when I first saw DD's nickname written out via text by her babysitter (that gave it to her), it just kind of stuck. Prior to that, I pictured it being "Oli" to sound like Oh-lee. Maybe I should change my SN to "OhLee08" :-D

For some reason--and I really wish I could explain why--I always read your username as "cute tiger." As if 97 = TE, which obviously it doesn't.

  • @ollie08 I WILL ALWAYS PRONOUNCE YOURS AH-LEE!

Mine is Blue & White, which most people know are two colors.  They happen to be the colors of the most amazing football team called the Indianapolis Colts.  Then I like to pretend they are Yankees colors.  And at the time, I was going to Penn State, which also does the blue & white thing.

But really, I just love Peyton.  And Luckster is growing on me.  I told H yesterday I was bored of baseball and wanted football back.  I'm surprised he is still married to me ;)
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @ollie08 you just made me realize that a person born in 2008 is SIX YEARS OLD.  Holy hell, I'm getting old.  Thank you for that :)
