Ugh, I'm the bug killer in this house. Twice last week I had wasps! Hate those big black ants, but the wasps really had to die ASAP. Kiki is a bug chaser too, so it's dangerous!
Do you have the stink bug invasion in your area yet? *shivers*

@LaPeanut1018 -Maddux wanted to eat the baby bird that couldn't fly out of our backyard a couple weeks ago... luckily Sean wouldn't let his hunting instincts go crazy!
People who complain about all the "illegals" in our area. Unless you are Native American, then don't bitch. My senior just went on a 10 minute rant about the "illegals" here. I think it's ridiculous. Hell, even my dad's family came here illegally (through Canada) when they came here from Poland and that's why they changed their name. My last name is not Polish at all!
She bitches that they're a drain on our resources, but we're already paying taxes. Also these people do the jobs that no one else wants to do, yet she thinks that every immigrant here is sucking off the teat of the government. I hate to tell her but no SSN = no benefits...
I hate this shit. Everyone should get a chance to come here and stay unless they commit a heinous crime then gtfo. Some of the kids that come here escaped gangs, traveled thousands of miles and basically were at the mercy of a "coyote". It's not an easy trip to the US, everyone makes it seems like you can just walk across, NBD and I think thats where a lot of the prejudice comes in.
So I missed a ton of this thread while on a plane yesterday.

@Buddysmom80 I definitely agree with your rant. I live in an area with a high population of immigrants and there are a lot of people around here that are very hateful about it. I'm all for contributing members of society, legal or not.
There are a few things that bother me just from personal experience, I worked with illegal immigrants at a job because they were hired from a contractor who was legal but paid cash to illegals, and there was a group of them who sent their paychecks to Mexico every payday for their families. Which, yes super nice they do that.. but it's irks me a little that they are getting tax free money and then not even putting it back in our economy.
Other than that, I think it's amazing that people can come to this country with nothing and build themselves a life they may have never had in their home country. I'm all for that.
@bremr I seriously wanted to punch a wall with her rant. I agree with you too, in regards to putting the money back into the economy but FWIW the guys that we've hired they are usually in the states for a short period of time and head back home but I guess it's different everywhere. I just hate it when people lump them all into one category.
Where I live it's all different people. Some people are ashamed to even get benefits for their kids here. I had a lady on the phone crying to me (with an interpretor) when I told her that if she didn't get her baby medical assistance that we would have to collect $50,000 (yes, my job is that shitty). She was so ashamed and said she didn't come to this country looking for a hand-out. Good for her, because the next phone call I make is to a US Citizen and she's asking me "when do I get a check from the state for this damn baby?"
That's the thing too, I think a lot of people focus on immigrants because they're an easy target... but there are a lot of people who drain the resources from our country. My dad is a republican and I'm am not and we argue all of the time because he gets mad at the immigrants and the people on welfare, and I tell him "There are people from welfare to Wall Street scamming the system, I'd prefer to give my money to the TEN families that cost as much as one shady guy on Wall Street"

overall, I agree with your comments. however, just because a person isn't a legal citizen doesn't mean they don't have a SSN... there is a huge trafficking of identity theft among the undocumented people in the U.S. H's identity was stolen (OK, his step-dad sold it for drugs, but whatever) and used by an undocumented Hispanic worker for who-knows-how-long before we caught it... and we only caught it because the IRS sent H a bill (while he was in college, working part-time) saying he owed taxes on $50,000. the guy had been working and using the SSN but not paying taxes, and trying to pass it off to H. now we have a hell of a time with taxes and H's identity. thankfully, the guy didn't take out any credit on H's name.
I personally know of several undocumented Hispanics (and I only say Hispanics because they are the only group of people that I have contact with) that use dead relatives' identities or stolen identities. sometimes they pay taxes, sometimes they don't. most of them do take welfare and food stamps, free healthcare, etc. it is very frustrating to the documented/legal members of H's family, to see their brothers/sisters/cousins/aunts/uncles taking from the country without giving back, especially when they had to work so hard to gain legal status.
the area in which I live has a HUGE illegal Hispanic population, and since H and I pastor a Spanish-speaking congregation, I have really been able to get a good inside look at things like this. it's a lot messier than even I could have imagined. thankfully, it seems (at least here) that anyone who is eligible for the DACA is taking advantage of that. it's a huge relief to those young adults who were raised here and who want to work and live here, but didn't have the right documentation.
@LaPeanut1018 - I am very sad to hear about the baby bunny...but for some reason the way you phrased that made me laugh right out loud. So I am apparently sympathetic to a bunny killer.
True story: my ex's and his parents live in an older part of town that still has big backyards and huge trees and a creek and all that. So there are lots of animals around. One night we were driving through his neighbourhood and about 40 feet ahead of us a raccoon wandered into the street. As I was thinking "I wonder if there's a baby behind her" (It was late in the spring), a little baby raccoon came running after her. Now I THOUGHT that I very calmly said "oh watch out for the raccoons", when in actual fact I freaked the hell out and pretty much screamed "Don't kill the baby, NOOOOO!!!!". I didn't hear the end of that until we broke up...

My FMIL does this ALL.THE.TIME. (some of my family does too but I rarely see them) and it drives me nuts, I want to punch her in the ovaries. I regularly interact with people who are on welfare and are working a lot harder than FMIL ever does, just to provide the basic necessities for their children. But I see how it's easy to see people as just part of "the problem" if you don't know the names or faces of anyone who's in that position.

This is definitely a complicated topic and I think people feel very strongly on either end. I see both sides. I also agree with some PPs who have mentioned there are many legal citizens born here who take advantage of the system so badly it makes me sick.
I live in an area where there's a big Irish population. A lot of Irish people come here, they're not legal and work without paying taxes. It makes me angry in one way but on the other hand- they may be doing a job no one else wants. What really irritates me lately is the illegal women having babies in local hospitals and their whole hospital visit is paid for. Yet if I didn't have insurance I'm pretty sure I'd be responsible for the astronomical bill that comes with giving birth in a hospital.
That's the thing too, I think a lot of people focus on immigrants because they're an easy target... but there are a lot of people who drain the resources from our country. Yeah, most often the people I know who have these issues have had their own time of milking the system. I mean, my dad busted his ass most of his life, but suffered a job loss, but he stayed on unemployment as long as possible, even taking jobs for cash only so he could keep it. I guess that's different though (eyeroll)
@keptinstitches Sorry! Meant the prospective dress thread. I either missed it entirely or don't remember what happened.
I recommended she look at BM dresses since most dress shops don't have a huge selection in shorter dresses.
....that wasn't the issue AT ALL. This is my beef with you: you continue to miss the point.
No one cared that you suggested bridesmaid dresses. It was that you said the dresses she liked weren't "bridal." That comes across as pretty insulting to a BRIDE looking for BRIDAL dresses.
But that is not what I meant. As I explained at the time.
I'm glad I can't keep track of all the insults I have taken here!
Okay, I slept on this reply to see if I would be less angry this morning.
You've taken insults? You said the dresses I was looking at were not "bridal!" That is HIGHLY insulting to me - even though I ended up not picking any of those, I'm still taking inspiration from the looks because that's how I want to feel/look as a BRIDE. And you never apologized! You want to say you apologize when you're called out? Show me where you apologized to me. I tried to be gracious and rise above, but you know what? No.
So I missed a ton of this thread while on a plane yesterday.
@phira, would you mind if I ask what the treatment is for you? I am having a similar problem now with sex, but haven't had a UTI and had all sorts of tests done by my doctor, and she couldn't find any reason why sex would be so painful for me. I always feel so bad afterwards, like I am letting BF down. It only became a problem in the last few months.
Also I am knotting from my phone for the first time; sorry in advance for any formatting issues that might happen.
TMI unless you're like me and are entirely unfazed by talking about sex and sex parts and the like.
I never got a real diagnosis from a doctor, but all of my symptoms matched something called vaginismus, which is basically where the vagina goes NO NO NO whenever anything is inserted. It's an involuntary muscle contraction, and it's not fixed by "just relaxing" because it's entirely out of your control. I ended up purchasing a set of dilators (from Amazon; where else?) that range in size from about the length and width of a tampon to the length and width of an average penis. They're easy to use; you start with the smallest one and you insert it and then just hang out (I'd watch a 45 minute TV episode). I did about a week with the smaller sizes and then a couple weeks each with the middle and larger sizes.
The problem with vaginismus is that it's entirely psychologically based, but because it's involuntary, there's no way to convince your body that, "No, really, it's actually going to be FUN to put a penis in there" is to slowly acclimate it to larger and larger insertions. I found it pretty effective, although I still do have some pain within the first 30-60 seconds of sex. After that, my body goes, "Oh yeah, we're doing sex," and then everything's fine.
I could NEVER seem to get a diagnosis from a doctor, which was unbelievably frustrating. They kept thinking I had bacterial vaginosis, but when I'd make an appointment, they'd be all, "Oh, no infection," and I'd point out, "Hey, did you notice how PAINFUL it was for me when you used the speculum?" And the response would always be along the lines of, "Yeah, that's weird, just try to relax, you should go see a specialist up in [insert town that's not accessible when you don't have a car]."
@CocobellaF I think it's pretty common to varying degrees. I feel lucky that I'm seeing progress ("seeing progress" = getting laid). And yeah, I think the hardest part about it was the diagnosis! When I was researching it, a lot of information included how difficult it was to get a diagnosis. Which is why I was glad the damn dilators were available on Amazon.
@phira everything is available on amazon but they need to bring back free shipping to $25 cause I say so.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
@Keptinstitches I feel your pain! I get 99.9% of my books on my ipad (kindle/nook/ibooks) so I don't order a ton from amazon
