Who's out there in Knottieville tonight?

I'm home alone and I'm bored! What's up in Knottieville?

Had my second of two showers this afternoon and it was absolutely lovely. I'm overwhelmed at how welcomed FI's family has made me feel, and completely blown away at my friends' and family's generosity. Our registries are nearly sold out, including our full set (12 settings) of fine china! And FI's aunts spent the whole day gushing to my mom about how highly they think of me, which I totally wasn't expecting. I'm tearing up thinking about it.

After the shower I took my mom shopping for her MOB dress, and found her a gorgeous one. She's really self-conscious, and it was great seeing her SEE how great she looked in everything.

But now... I'm home alone cuz FI is out at his bachelor party. Drinking some beer his buddies left and watching How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days. Who's out there to keep me company? :-D

    ME.  Woohoo for showers.

DH is doing a wedding.  Should be done in a few hours I guess.

My DH turned into a Groomsmen-zilla today.     So he is in his sister's wedding in a few months.  Since last year they said he could where his own tux.  We would just get a matching shirt.   He ship the tux to his mom to be cleaned.  (whatever, one less thing we need to bring).

Anyway, tux looks totally different then everyone else.    It's a black tux, I doubt very much it's totally different, but whatever he can rent one.    But NO, he it totally freaking out that the pants will not be tapered.  The boy HATES non-tapered legged pants.  So now he is trying to BUY the tux so he can have it altered.

DUDE - you refused to wear a suit or tux at our own wedding. Which was fine with me.  I can't even remember the last time you put on a suit or tie.    Actually, I think the last time was at Brad Pitts Make it Right gala in New Orleans 2 years ago..  Which was about 6 months after you bought the tux (which was a good deal because we had 3 black-tie affairs in a course of 3 months).

WHY DO YOU NEED 2 TUXEDOS?  Just wear the rented pants.

    Grrr...

  • Hi! I'm here!!! (Unfortunately only by mobile--internet out today.)

So glad you had such a good time!! All of my friends/family are back on the east coast/the mitten, so FI's fam threw me one out here. I burst into tears at many random intervals, just because I was so overwhelmed at all of the love I felt from people who don't even HAVE to love me!

FI is cooking dinner right now; we went wine tasting this afternoon and plan on walking to the beach after we eat. We had a little stupid tiff earlier; hopefully a stroll under the stars and the ocean breeze will help soothe all that.

Oh heavens Lynda. Lol. They're just pants!!

FI had a similar attire freak out the other day when he realized he suddenly didn't want to look the same as the other guys. Ok dude, you were the one who wanted to match. But we'll buy you another tie, in ivory this time. And a vest. Whatever.

  • I'm glad you had a good time at your shower! I'm also VERY glad that FI's fam is happy to welcome you into their group, that is so good to see! You're under two months out, that is so exciting!!!

I went to a bar with FI and another couple tonight and saw this:

LADIE'S. Really for real. That's about all that's going on here. I'm tired, but I really need to do some laundry and general cleaning.

  • Slothie EXACTLY! FI was pretty convinced that these people didn't even like him so much (he's one of few non-doctor, non-lawyer types in that side of the fam) but they've been wonderful.

Oh what I wouldn't give for an ocean breeze right now!!!

  • I said can't you just deal for one day. He said "NO". Which I know is right because whenever he gets new chef pants they need to be altered. He will wear old pants with holes than wear pants that were not altered. The boy is a freak.

  • I'm here, sister-sister!

I'm glad you had such a great time at your shower :)

I somehow accidentally took a five hour nap today, so i'm going to be up ALLLLLLL night.
  • DH and I are watching BBT reruns and eating a late dinner (I made super tasty chicken scampi with broccoli on a big pile of angel hair). Now that the wedding is over, I'm no longer dieting and my dear mother can tell me I look pregnant to her heart's content!

  • I'm here!

Lolo, so glad not only that your shower went well, but that you feel so welcomed!  It means so much when a family welcomes SOs with open arms.  You've probably heard me say on here that my FMIL is a little crazy, but I love her to death.  It really helps when your in-laws are so loving and welcoming.

    LADIE'S and Thursday's NO NO NO.  I can't.

I had a royally shitty day today but Fi helped make it a little better.  I recently took a three-day bar exam practice test and sent in the essays to the bar review company for grading.  I've gotten a few of them back, all of them with mediocre scores (averaging 5/10).  In the "yellow zone."  So I am not happy about my essays, which I thought would be a strength, and was kind of having a confidence crisis.

So this morning I saw one of my essays had been graded!  I was so excited to see it was an 8/10!  Then I read the feedback.... and they gave me someone else's essay.  I was so crushed.  Commence half an hour of hopeless ugly crying.  It was really demoralizing to think I finally did something well and then find out it was wrong.

The worst part is we don't really have a human point person, just a website where we can submit questions and get answers within 3-5 business days.  So I emailed the academic director a VERY angry rant about my various problems with the class, tipping point being the fuckup on the essays.

Did I mention I've worked for this test prep company as a teacher and tutor for four years?  Oh yeah.  I was pissed.  I would never do that to one of my students.

So the guy called me back and talked me off the ledge a little bit.  He says my current scores would actually be passing if I took the exam now (yay!) But the grading scale in practice is pretty tough so you have high standards leading up to the test.  Gah.  I vented some of my complaints and his answers were... not great, but acceptable.

I was still fuming and pissed off so Fi kicked me out of the house to the gym (thanks, Fi) and made me take the rest of the night off.  I went to my favorite barre class in NYC, which really made me feel better.  We grilled up some dinner, watched the first episode of AHS Asylum (meh) and now we're hanging out on the couch.

    Yikes.  What a day.

  • @lyndausvi oh I know I shouldn't laugh, but I can't help it. FI is the same way. We're talking 'thinks holes in his crotch region in jeans he wears to work is ok', but god forbid his suit for his cousin's wedding isn't the perfect right shade of blue. I can't.

@lolo883 let's make a deal--you come here, we'll go frolic on the beach, I gk back to MI and we go to dinner in Greek town??

  • @slothiegal‌ YESSSSSS!!! FI went to Fishbones tonight and I'm super jealous!

Nope, it's Hillsborough. I walked in and was greeted by BuckCherry 'Crazy Bitch' and shrieking harpies. Ladie's was the least of the problems there.

  • The moving truck took all of our stuff away yesterday.  I'm sitting on our soon to be former guest bed that we are giving away.  In the morning I will run over to my best GA friend's house to drop some stuff off and say good-bye and let DS see his best (only) friend one last time.  Then we load up the car and head out.  I'm perfectly happy to be leaving GA but the thing that is getting to me is that DS won't even remember this girl. I have a few pictures of them together and I'll tell him about her someday, but he won't remember.

  • I'm here. Sitting on my couch. Watching TV. Color me (and everyone) shocked!!!

  • I went to a funeral today for one of H's aunt. It was a lovely service.

Though I, and apparantly other's, though I heard this from H later, were MASSIVELY side-eyeing a great niece who wore white jeans, dirty white flip flops, a tight light blue shimmery/ombre tank top with her sports bra very visible.

Now I'm reading through The Worst Muse twitter and sketching. Contemplating wine.

Hahaha nooo shut up!  My mom and dad ALWAYS call me to rub it in my face when they go there.  I get so jealous every time, lol.

@jcbride2005  Oh geez.  I would've freaked the fuck out.  Deep breaths.  And, if all else fails:

  • I was stressing at work over a stupid story that I HATE and did not want to do and I'm afraid it's not "deep" enough. (I'm a journalist).  So now, H is away for about an hour and I am de-stressing by knotting.

Please tell me you are moving to TN??? I need a knottie in my area that I can hang out with IRL. The TN board is so depressing.

lyndausvi, that's funny! We had a couple groomsman attire mishaps and the groomsmen were way more upset about it than we were.

    Yay showers and family acceptance!

I got pro pics back and I am ridiculously happy with them. I will make a post later, but FI and I are lol-ing over my nephew's attire. We can't figure it out. My sister has no fashion sense. At the wedding I sort of thought it was a poncho, but now looking at the pics, I think IT'S SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE THIS. Wut.

Now don't get me wrong, my sis is great and the kids are adorable and I don't care what anyone wears, let alone a little kid. But this is so something my sister would pick out, it hurts. She and my niece were also going to wear these crazy ass shawl things.

That's completely what it is. My dad is a retired Marine and we lived there for a bit. Family friends who have been stationed there all joke that if you're not military or military family, they don't know what you're doing there.
Yeah, it seems like everyone in the Navy passes through there at least once. That was actually DH's last duty station and now we are going back.

  • I'm here too...chilling at work overnight tonight and hoping my officers don't decide to start making busy work for me.  Next week I move to a new shift, the shift I was supposed to move to 2 years ago!  We finally have the manpower for the change...here's hoping no one else quits before my wedding so I can stay put!
