Recommend your mascara!

I've been using l'oreal double extend mascara for as long as I can remember and I think they've changed it. I bought a new one about a week ago and it's awful. It makes my eyelashes hard and stick together and impossible to get off without eye make up remover. It's almost like its waterproof, but it's not. I never buy the water proof kind.

So any recommendations for a good mascara?

    I get waterproof glam back

I've never had enough money to buy an expensive brand, this is the best I've got!

  • I use Arbonne Long Story mascara.  It gives pretty dramatic length but is natural-looking and never clumps.  People ask me if I use falsies.

I've used Diorshow and really like it, too.

  • It's kind of weird. I usually use high-end brands for my face but for my eye lashes I have found that some of the lower-end stuff is better. This is coming from someone who has really used everything out there.

    Best I have found is:
    Lower End: Rocket from Maybelline.
Higher End: They're Real from Benefit.

Usually, I will do a light coat of Rocket (from Maybelline) and do another coat of Loreal Voluminous mascara after first coat dries or coat falsies with Rocket from Maybelline. I swear by this. Always use it on brides whenever I do make-up!
I love Benefit products, but somehow They're Real always smudges on my brow bone.  It looks great on my lashes, I let it dry, and then two hours later I'm smudgy.  What gives?

  • I don't wear mascara too much, but I did get a sample at Sephora of the Dior one, and I loved it! I also really like Bare Minerals' mascara.

And the funny thing is that Dior smudges on me. I blame it on my oily eyelids. I tend to go for dryer formulas. My eyelashes are long, but super straight so I almost have to do chemistry in order to keep them curled and dramatic.

    ETA: wording
Yeah, counterintuitively, I think it must be because They're Real has a good curling effect on my lashes.  So they're bumping up against my brow bone all the time.

  • It's blue....wait....I gotta look it up...

Maybelline Mega Plush Volume Express.  Here's a LINKY about the non waterproof version.

I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th tube.  I like how it doesn't make my lashes feel stiff and brittle, and it's a very natural yet volumizing.  I get it in waterproof Very Black.  It's always cheapest at Walmart.

    ETA words....they always fail me.

  • Covergirl Clump Crusher. Never clumps. Seriously my favorite. I have tried the high end brands too, and still always go back to this one.

  • For day-to-day, I use Estee Lauder Sumptuous. They're always giving away a travel size when they do Gift With Purchase so I've never actually bought a tube - I get one free when I go in during gift time to buy my moisturizer. For waterproof, I was recommended Lights, Camera, Splashes from Tarte for my wedding. I have pretty sensitive eyes, and this one didn't bother me AT ALL. It stayed on through the crying, the laughing, the drunkenness, and even through what happens when CP drinks too, too much. Most waterproof mascaras come off when I use my facial cleanser, but I actually had to use oil-based makeup remover to get this off. Totally sold on it. My lashes got length, volume, and didn't clump.

  • Yes to the Diorshow, and the Estée Lauder Sumptuous. Recently was given a tube of Makeup Forever's Smoky Extravagant (a Sephora award for spending more than I can afford) and I really love it.
  • I'm on Cover Girl Clump Crusher too.  I wish it gave me a bit more volume though, but those always tend to flake on me.  I did love "They're Real", but it is a PITA to take off.  If you use make-up remover, you should be ok, but I use Cetaphil and water, and it was almost like washing off waterproof mascara.  Not quite, but close.  I still use it for cheer competitions as more of a stage make-up though

  • I normally get drugstore brands; whatever the newest, flashiest Cover Girl or Maybelline is. I haven't been impressed enough by the various higher-end ones I've gotten at Sephora or in my Birch Box to justify the price. Just don't get Cover Girl "Flamed Out." It turns my lashes into horrible, brittle sticks.

Cover girl is hit or miss. When it hits, though, it hits with the beauty of 14 inch fluttery perfect hair.

I'm a psycho mascara whore because I have virtually no eyelashes they are so fine and tiny. One of my best friend's blog is Clumps of Mascara if anyone wants to read a review about basically any mascara on the market. She's amazing.

    My favorites:
Younique but I don't wear it everyday because I'm lazy. It actually goes over your mascara to get the little fibers to make bigger lashes. It's my "to die for" product. No I don't sell it.

Stila Forever Your Curl it has a super tiny brush so if you have super tiny lashes you can get to all of them.

NYX Doll Eye Mascara in basically any formula. I use waterproof quite often but the other two actually work even better. It just has an awesome makeup and feels good and goes on smooth.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Mascara. They come in an all wood looking tube or for waterproof a purple tube with a gold anchor. They have this really gummy feel that keeps your lashes alive all day long with absolutely ZERO flaking whatsoever.

  • I use Be A Bombshell - Lash Out. It never clumps or gets smudgey, and it is really easy to remove. http://beabombshellcosmetics.com/product/mascara/lash-out/
  • Blinc from Sephora or Loreal Beauty Tubes.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Another Diorshow addict here!
  • I'm been using Korres Volcanic Mineral Mascara and love it! It's a bit pricey, but makes my lashes look awesome. Plus... It's made with volcanic soil which is just cool. Haha :)

I have tried almost every drugstore mascara & the absolute best is the Maybelline that comes in the metallic green tube. It is amazing! I always buy the very black waterproof version.

  • Thanks ladies! I have a lot of options to try!
  • I've been using Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara lately, I love it!

  • High Impact - Clinique

Smooth, non-clumpy, non-drying, good separation, good for sensitive skin, no smudging... I am in love.

  • I've been on a mascara hunt as well.   I have 3 in my makeup basket right now, Maybelline Volume Express Rocket, Maybelline Volume Express The Mega Plush, and L'Oreal Paris Voluminous False Fiber Lash.  The L'Oreal adds crazy volume/length, but it's so dry!  Is that common with fiber mascaras?  The Mega Plus is also really dry.  The Rocket is more moist but it doesn't add as much volume as the L'Oreal.

  • I'm going to throw another one out there for y'all: Victoria's Secret Volume Lift. Love it!!!

  • I have sensitive eyes and I've found Maybelline Full 'n Soft works really well and doesn't itch. I'm having a harder time finding it lately though so I might have to switch to an online retailer. Maybelline's Lash Discovery is also great for my teeny tiny lower lashes because it has a smaller brush.

Try Clinique.. It's a little more expensive, but IMHO totally worth it. I have super sensitive skin and a wide range of allergies - it doesn't bother me at all.

Another vote for Clump Crusher! I was scared of the wand at first but the curve helps get all the lashes coated evenly.
